The Trap

With a desperate attempt to get his son back from the Others, Michael was willing to betray his friends as part of a deal. He lead them to believe that they could rescue Walt by forcing the Others to release him.

The Button

The Hatch contained a button that needed to be pushed every 108 minutes or something bad would happen. This would pit John Locke and Mr. Eko against each other over whether the button should be pushed or not. Desmond's last minute arrival gave Locke the confidence he needed to challenge Eko.

Libby - She decided to visit the Hatch to get some blankets for a picnic with Hurley and was a witness to Michael murdering Ana-Lucia. She had to go.

Ana-Lucia - Toward the close of the season, Ana-Lucia was wrestling regret from her life before the island. Unknown to her, Michael was sent to help Ben escape from their custody and killing Ana-Lucia was the only way to do it.

Shannon - After starting to see visions of the MIA Walt, Shannon went for a walk in the woods in her crazed state and was mistaken as an Other by Ana-Lucia. Bang.

Goodwin - He was uncovered as an Others spy and after a fight, he fell on Ana-Lucia's spear.

Dr. Arzt - Haha, Arzt died in the season one finale when he mishandled dynamite.

A note from me.
One of my favourite things about Lost were the various missions and divisions that took place throughout the series. There were times when all the main characters would be divided into certain groups (by choice or not) with a particular goal that they had to achieve. The larger missions would usually take place in the season finale for the first 3 seasons, whereas the last 3 seasons were more about the divisions that split the survivors apart.

I created these lists to monitor the everchanging group dynamics and the loyalties that evolved over the 6 seasons of the show.
