The queen of typecasting...She,herself,desired more serious roles, but the studio, unfortunately, saw her only as a blond sex godess, with quite limited brain capacity. The image she created, with the help of the studio, unabled her to take her talent to its limits... And she did have quite a talent.

The divine Garbo always played women with cold looks, yet quite warm harts, often torn between desires and duties... The first Anna Karenina

"When I'm good, I'm very good. But when I'm bad, I'm better." Mae West will always be percieved as a witty blond maneater :)

The best Robin Hood ever in the history of cinematography :) did not drift in his career too much from what he was like in real life- adventure loving, handsome to die for, witty Don Juan... Thank God :) This is probably the only typecasting here I approve...

Similar to Mae West, Rita, thanks to her roles, created the image of extraordinary seductress, but slightly more feminine, I would say... " The Love Godess" once said that men went to bed with Gilda( her famous character)and woke up with Rita.

The good girl of Hollywood and Errol Flynn' s girlfriend... Olivia did get 2 Oscars, but she will always be known as the other half of the most famous love pair in the early cinematography. She herself admited that they had an amasing chemistry, althoug nothing ever happend between them. " He never tried his wicked ways with me."

Should I say more than " singing nany " :) I adore Julie and I admit that she did make an outstanding mark in the histoy of film with various performances, but, in the two films she is most famous for, Julie plays the above mentioned type.

Typecasting that ruined a career... She was never as successful as when she was a golden-hairdo moppet tap- dancing. Though, she is considered one of the most popular child stars in history.

Simone Signoret, french actress and " Monroe for men wth brains" often played women with suspicious morality and quite interesting lives. Ironicly, her husband cheated on her with M.M. They did stay together.

Ahh,sweet 70's... This decade is not actually known for typecasting. Infact, some of the best actors ever in movie history surfaced around that time. I managed to find one ecample, though :-)

Is it just me, or did the 90's bring some of the most famous typecastings, alongside some very good films? It must be because of those romantic comedies... Sandra is a very funny actress, with an amasing timing for comedy, which her playing the same role over and over made a little bit less iritating than the same thing with Meg Ryan or Julia Roberts.

Now... This typecasting isn't realy that obvious... But, when you think about it, Leo is always playing handsome misfits, sometimes very socialy awkward.

This is one typecasting I'm so sick of...Sexy,tough girl, very often with a licence to kill... I actually once thought she was a good actress

Jane March is very well known for her naked, quite vivid sex scenes in two films, where she is playing sexy lolitas men can't get enough of. I do like her and "The lover" is one of my favourite movies.

This is a list of actors and actresses who, throught their careers, suffered some serious typecasting, meaning, they very often played same characters, more or less, and some of them were quite displeased about it. The list is open for suggestions :)
