During the early 2000s in an article in the UK's Gay Times, Evans stated that people would approach him in gay pubs to tell him that they could not believe that he's gay. In a subsequent 2002 interview with The Advocate in the U.S. he said that although his (then) part (in Taboo) was that of a straight man "everybody knew me as a gay man, and in my life in London I never tried to hide it".

By his late thirties, he was less willing to discuss his sexuality with the press, asserting his private life to be private. He deliberately shields his family from the press. He stated in response to a question about the opinion that Hollywood might have of his sexuality that his private life was not connected to Hollywood, and that "Talent, success, what you do in your personal life – I don't see how one should have an effect on the other." Although known as openly gay since the Gay Times interview, he is rarely labelled so. Evans was in a relationship with Colombian actor Victor Turpin in 2018, as well as with Argentine art director Rafael Olarra from 2019 to 2020. Bomer publicly came out as gay in 2012, when he thanked Halls and their children during an acceptance speech for his Steve Chase Humanitarian Award. Also in 2012, Bomer was given an Inspiration Award for his work at the GLSEN Awards. He is an LGBT rights activist.

March 2010, Martin publicly came out as gay via a message on his website, stating: "I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man. I am very blessed to be who I am. "Syrian-Swedish painter Jwan Yosef shared a photo of himself and Martin on Instagram on March 30, 2016, with the caption: "Obviously we're starting a band." Soon it was rumored that Yosef is Martin's new boyfriend. Martin confirmed their relationship on April 18, 2016, and they made their red carpet debut as a couple at the amfAR Inspiration Gala.

Harris publicly came out as gay in November 2006, saying, "I am happy to dispel any rumors or misconceptions and am quite proud to say that I am a very content gay man living my life to the fullest and feel most fortunate to be working with wonderful people in the business I love. Harris attended the Emmy Awards in September 2007 with his fiancé David Burtka, later confirming the relationship. In an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show,Harris said his relationship with Burtka began in 2004. On August 14, 2010, Harris announced that he and Burtka were expecting twins via a surrogate mother.

Scott is gay. He first commented publicly on his sexuality in an interview with The Independent in November 2013. He stated, "Mercifully, these days people don't see being gay as a character flaw. But nor is it a virtue, like kindness. Or a talent, like playing the banjo. It's just a fact. Of course, it's part of my make-up, but I don't want to trade on it." Scott was ranked at No. 22 on The Independent's Rainbow List 2014.

Pace's sexual orientation became a topic of public discussion after he was accidentally outed as gay by Ian McKellen, who worked with him in The Hobbit films, in 2012. McKellen's "outing" was described in the press as a blunder and an accident on his part, as Pace had never addressed the subject.

During his adolescent years, Tovey's family had difficulty accepting his sexual orientation. Although he says he came out to himself when he was 15 or 16, he came out to his parents when he was 18.

Quinto publicly came out as gay in October 2011. He explained that, after the suicide of gay teenager Jamey Rodemeyer, he felt that "living a gay life without publicly acknowledging it is simply not enough to make any significant contribution to the immense work that lies ahead on the road to complete equality." Prior to his coming out, Quinto had long been an active supporter of gay rights and organizations, including The Trevor Project.

Bailey is gay. Although cautious of discussing his sexuality as he thinks it "becomes a commodity and a currency", he is keen about representation stating, "there's absolutely no way I'm not going to be visibly out", and "if I can fill spaces that I didn't have growing up, then I feel like that's a really brilliant thing."

Scott is gay. He has said he had issues with his sexuality when growing up, but since becoming an adult, he is confident about it.

In 2023, on the subject of his sexuality, Armitage revealed that he came out to his parents at the age of 19.However, it was only recently that he felt comfortable enough to come out publicly. He told Radio Times: “[Coming out] happened when I was 19 – to anybody who mattered – and I was always waiting for that question to punch me in the face, and it never did. I thought, ‘Are people being polite, or is it that they don’t want to know?’

Ocean wrote an open letter, initially intended for the liner notes on Channel Orange, that preemptively addressed speculation about his attraction in the past to another man.Instead, on July 4, 2012, he published the open letter on his Tumblr blog recounting unrequited feelings he had for another young man when he was 19 years old, citing it as his first true love. He used the blog to thank the man for his influence, and also thanked his mother and other friends, saying, "I don't know what happens now, and that's alright. I don't have any secrets I need kept anymore... I feel like a free man.

Macfarlane came out as gay during an interview with The Globe and Mail on 15 April 2008.

In 2007, Miller denied to InStyle magazine that he was gay. However, he came out as gay in August 2013, when he posted a letter on GLAAD's website declining an invitation to attend the Saint Petersburg International Film Festival because he felt "deeply troubled" by the Russian government's treatment of its gay citizens (referring to the Russian LGBT propaganda law, enacted the previous June, which banned "propaganda of nontraditional sexual relations").

In August 2005, he publicly revealed he was gay during an interview with the British tabloid The Sun. Feehily had recognised his sexual orientation when he was 14 or 15 years old. His family, bandmates and close friends knew his sexual orientation. Westlife's manager Louis Walsh, however, was unaware of Feehily's sexual orientation when he began managing the group. As the only gay member of Westlife, Feehily had kept his sexual orientation private. Unlike his bandmates, Feehily did not discuss his private life in interviews, although he had dated women prior to his coming out. In yet another interview, he told The Sydney Morning Herald that despite the fact that the majority of Westlife's fans are female, there had really been no negative reaction.

James came out privately as gay to fellow band member Simon Webbe in 2012. In an interview in 2014, James specified that he still has sex with women but identifies as a gay man, clarifying: "Regardless of whether I sleep with women or not, I'm still sleeping with men so I'm gay. So I'm still attracted to women, I could still easily sleep with a woman". In July 2017, as he appeared in public for the first time with his new boyfriend at that time, James said that coming out was the "best thing he ever did" after years of "living a lie". In May 2019, in response to a question about what being gay meant to him now, James stated, "It shouldn't really mean anything to people these days. You are who you are. We should lose the labelling, really. Being who you are is good enough, and whatever you are, people should be fine with that. Let's just all get along and let's all be happy." In July 2019, James publicly released pictures of him with his current boyfriend, Rodrigo Reis, adding that he is "proud to be gay". In October 2019, James featured in two episodes of First Dates Hotel in which he had his first public date while openly gay, with 38-year-old Portuguese native, Joao.

Groff publicly came out as gay when asked by a Broadway.com reporter during the National Equality March in October 2009. He later shared his experience with coming out, discussing the pain of being closeted and the knowledge that disclosing his sexuality could have negative ramifications on his career. He has also expressed how much he values being a role model for young people as an out actor, and has advocated for the importance of sharing coming out stories.

Cohen is the first openly gay host of an American late-night talk show. In December 2018, he announced he would become a father in 2019 with the help of a surrogate.

Domingo is openly gay, and has been married to his husband, Raúl Domingo, since 2014.

He is openly gay, having come out at age 19.

Parker is openly gay. He came out in an interview with The New Zealand Herald in 2008.

In October 2013, Jackson announced he was dating actor Jason Landau on his official Instagram account. They announced their engagement in February 2014 and married in Encino, California, in September 2014.

Watkins came out as gay on April 26, 2013, in an interview on Marie with Marie Osmond. In that same interview, Watkins announced he had become a single dad in December 2012 by welcoming twins Catchen and Curtis via surrogacy. Since 2019, he has been in a relationship with actor Andrew Rannells. The two met the year before while playing a couple on the Broadway production of The Boys in the Band.

Platt is gay. He told his family when he was thirteen years old, and publicly came out in 2019, before the release of his song "Ease My Mind". On January 12, 2020, Platt began a relationship with Noah Galvin.

Aldridge came out as gay during an interview with Attitude magazine in 2021.

In 2011, he told Out magazine that his rough upbringing in New York City, during which he hid his sexuality so as not to become a target, ultimately made him a better actor. He said: "I went to school in the Bronx. I learned to constantly try to cover up the fact that I was gay. That façade of being somebody I'm really not just to protect myself definitely helped with acting." He was named one of OUT Magazine's 100 most influential gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender people for 2013.

Bennett is gay and in a relationship with former Amazing Race contestant and current Celebrity Page host Jaymes Vaughan.In March 2022, the couple got married at the Unico Riviera Maya Hotel in Mexico.

Jeremy Sheffield is gay, but rarely gives interviews on the subject as he feels it's irrelevant to his career, stating: "I don't feel anybody should have to wear their sexuality on their sleeve, but 99% of the time people make a projection onto me that I'm straight, and I feel that if I just allow them to run with that projection, then it's sort of as if I'm lying. It's a strange position to be in, because I shouldn't have to say anything, but I often do feel like I have to get it into the conversation. It's a shame, but that's how it is."

Bartlett came out as gay early in his career, saying, "I didn’t feel like I really had an alternative; I just never felt I could ever be anything but myself."

Six months after Burtka's first How I Met Your Mother appearance, allegations arose that the actor had received the part because of a romantic relationship with one of the show's stars, actor Neil Patrick Harris. Speculation around this story eventually led Harris to acknowledge publicly that he himself was gay in a cover story in People Weekly Magazine.

In October 2021, while promoting his memoir You Can’t Be Serious, Penn had announced that he and his partner of 11 years, named Josh, are engaged to be married. In regard to his sexual orientation, Penn said he "discovered my own sexuality relatively late in life compared to many other people." However, he believes that "there's no timeline on this stuff. People figure their shit out at different times in their lives, so I'm glad I did when I did."

Doyle is openly gay. He directed 2019 independent film Almost Love with openly gay actors in the leading roles.

In December 2004, Berkus and his then-partner, photographer Fernando Bengoechea, were vacationing at a beach resort in Sri Lanka when the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami hit. While Berkus survived, Bengoechea was missing and presumed dead. Berkus appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show on January 17, 2005, to talk about the ordeal and the loss of his partner. After nearly a year of dating, Berkus became engaged to fellow interior designer Jeremiah Brent in April 2013. They were married on May 4, 2014, in Manhattan.

Hickey is openly gay. Since 2003 his partner has been screenwriter and television producer Jeffrey Richman.

Bomer married publicist Simon Halls in 2011; the marriage became public through the media only in 2014.

Dallas is gay. On 5 July 2015, he married musician Blue Hamilton, his partner of five years.

Haynes has struggled with anxiety all his life. In January 2016, after years of public speculation concerning his "secret gay past", an off-the-cuff response he made on Tumblr regarding a comment on photos that appeared in gay lifestyle magazine XY a decade before was taken by many media outlets as confirmation of his coming out. Not yet ready to speak openly about his sexual orientation, the renewed attention led Haynes to seek treatment for his anxiety for the next three months. He later publicly came out as gay in an interview in Entertainment Weekly in May 2016. Haynes revealed that he had concealed his sexuality based on advice from entertainment industry insiders who told him that being open about the topic would hinder his career.

On October 7, 2017, Amboyer publicly came out as gay and announced that he had married his long-term partner, Eric P. Berger.

After one year of dating, he became engaged to fellow interior designer and television personality Nate Berkus in April 2013. They were married on May 4, 2014 in Manhattan.

Berlanti has been in a relationship with ex-LA Galaxy soccer player Robbie Rogers since mid-2013. On December 31, 2016, Rogers and Berlanti announced they had become engaged. Their wedding occurred on December 2, 2017. They have two children born via surrogacy, a son in 2016 and a daughter in 2019.
