186FleetStreet's rating:
Chloe Moretz as George Fayne, one of Nancy's best friends. This time, she's staying over with Bess.
In the game series, she's a phone-a-friend character, but maybe the phone calls with her could be done as a split screen thing like they used to do on "Lizzie McGuire."
186FleetStreet's rating:
Bridgit Mendler as Bess Marvin, one of Nancy's best friends, and George's cousin.
Ditto the split screen conversations.
186FleetStreet's rating:
Skandar Keynes as Frank Hardy, famous teen detective, Joe's older brother, and one of Nancy's friends.
He and Joe invited Nancy as a guest on the train to Copper Gorge and (later) Blue Moon Canyon.
186FleetStreet's rating:
Asa Butterfield as Joe Hardy, famous teen detective, Frank's younger brother, and one of Nancy's friends.
He's a goofball.
He'd probably have to dye his hair blond.
186FleetStreet's rating:
Dianna Agron as Lori Girard, the Paris Hilton-like socialite who planned the train trip to find out what happened to Jake Hurley, the train's original owner, and his mine.
She disappeared from the meeting in the dining car early on, but it turns out it was just a stunt to see who was smart enough to find her in the locked caboose first. It turns out, she's not quite the dumb blonde she seems to be, and planned the whole trip to try to find Jake Hurley, his mine, and the letter President Lincoln sent to Hurley on the day of his assassination.
186FleetStreet's rating:
Daniel Baldwin as Tino Balducci, a detective from Chicago.
He's rather incompetent, and only got his fame for solving a really big recent case by dumb luck. It turns out, he and Lori used to date, and they end up getting back together partway through the game. Also, he threw the train's emergency brake and framed John Grey, so he could make an arrest and try to reclaim his one-time glory.
Baldwin used to play Detective Felton on "Homicide: Life on the Street," and now he's one of the commentators on "World's Dumbest" on TruTV. Somehow, this dreamcast seemed like a logical progression.
186FleetStreet's rating:
Phil LaMarr as John Grey, a TV paranormal investigator.
He's on the train to investigate the supposed hauntings by Camille Voulet, the wife of Jake Hurley. It turns out, his original paranormal investigation show was cancelled, so he's working on setting up his own TV network dedicated to the subject. He's using his invitation from Lori to investigate the train as a re-launching point for his career.
186FleetStreet's rating:
Diana Scarwid as Charleena Purcell, a historical romance novelist who specializes in the Old West.
She had helped Nancy with research in "The Secret of Shadow Ranch," but at least claims not to remember. Lori invited her on the train because she's a huge fan of the writer. It turns out, she used at least one plotline that Lori sent to her, without giving Lori compensation for the idea.
186FleetStreet's rating:
Selena Gomez as Fatima Buell, the owner of Buell's General Store and Mining Museum in Copper Gorge, which was originally owned by one of her ancestors who knew Jake Hurley. She wears a ridiculous miner costume. She's also a huge Charleena Purcell fan.
186FleetStreet's rating:
Jeff Fahey as the train's engineer. It turns out, he was in on Lori's disappearing act.
Voice-over cameo appearance.

186FleetStreet's rating:
Frank Oz as the Oldtimer, the son (or grandson? I don't remember) of Jake Hurley's train engineer, in which case, he must be ancient, if his father (grandfather?) was the engineer just after the Civil War. He hangs out at the diner in Copper Gorge a lot. Frank overheard him telling his friend Elaine stories about Jake Hurley's mine.
Cameo appearance near the end.
