Ravenous

Ravenous is a fast paced dark comedic thriller with a riveting performance from the delusional Robert Carlyle. Guy Pearce tells the disturbing tale of cannibalism during the Mexican-American War. The ending sequence is a bit creepy, but this film is a must see.

A cowardly soldier (Pearce) is stationed at an isolated military outpost with a bunch of misfits in Sierra Nevada following the Mexican-American War in 1847. When a dazed survivor (Carlyle)of an unfortunate expedition shows up at the outpost, it isn't long before he reveals himself to be a murderous madman with a taste for human flesh. An offbeat, blackly comic and extremely bloody effort from English director Bird (PRIEST).

Movies I watched in March 2019 (30 movies items)

" Date: 3/3/2019 Viewed: Amazon Prime (Rental) First Viewing Note: I remember seeing the advertisements for this movie back in 1999, but never saw it until now. This movie is pretty awesome because I love the themes in this movie. This movie deals with people losing their humanity after eating human flesh and the horror of war. I was surprised to see this movie having comedy because this movie is mostly serious. I also love the gritty atmosphere that this movie has as well. I recommend to che"

Fall Horrorfest 2018 (40 movies items)

" Watched September 24th Rating: Hm... not sure if this was me being a little uninterested, or if this movie hasn't aged especially well, or maybe my expectations where off again (I gotta stop watching trailers!) but overall I was not impressed. Ravenous seemed somewhat goofy to me, it had some parts that seemed intentionally funny and others I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be comedic or tense. The characters where interesting in theory but I felt like I didn't get to know them very well,"

"The survivor of a tragic frontier disaster leads a group of military misfits into the wilds to look for survivors...but it's not survivors that awaits them but death. An amazing film laced with a dark comic edge, top notch performances, a fantastic score, and one helluva final confrontation."

My movie year 2016 (666 movies items)
