Leviathan is the underwater version of "The Thing/The Blob" where Peter Weller and his crew battle battle a mutagen 16,000 feet below the Atlantic. Its also got a little bit of an "Alien" feel as well with the whole futuristic theme. Not bad, but not great.

I would have to say that after watching it as a refresher it is an ok movie. I watch a ton of monster movies, they are one of my favorite genres, but this one is a little odd. It does follow the thing, but then again it has this whole underwater feel. It is really not that hard to impress me with a movie, but this one fell just a little short of a perfect score. It was pretty much a monster that c... read more

"29.8. (FYEO) Illan toisessa pätkässä ei nähty mitään tajuntaa mullistavaa, vaikka tämäkin oli Das Boot The Thingin ja Alienin kanssa tehosekoittimeen heitettynä. Winstonin tehosteet olivat sopivan limaisia, vaikka lopun haikohtaukset ja hirviö olivat turhia ja rumia."

TDcore's Horror Journal: 2018 (50 movies items)

" This is the most well received of the string of eighties rip-offs left in Alien and it's sequels wake. Although if this is the crème of the crop, the crop might not be too creamy. It's a passable creature feature, but besides it's underwater setting it's a pretty damn close imitation of Alien. We have Peter Weller instead of Sigourney Weaver and we have a shoddy looking aquatic mutation instead of a menacing alien, but for the most part it feels like sub-par imitation. Some of the effects wo"

The Good & The Bad - Movies Watched In 2017 (472 movies items)

"This is one of those movies that has "rip-off" all over it and in this case it's The Thing. A group of deep-sea miners come across a wrecked Soviet ship and after plundering what they can they end up with more than they bargained for. Enter the plot of deep-sea miners under attack from a creepy tentacled monster. The movie crams as many creature feature clichés in as it can get away with, and sure enough the jump scare moments are not in short supply. It's got a good cast in Peter Weller, Ernie"
