Your Average Monster Movie

Posted : 17 years ago on 7 April 2007 12:07

I would have to say that after watching it as a refresher it is an ok movie. I watch a ton of monster movies, they are one of my favorite genres, but this one is a little odd. It does follow the thing, but then again it has this whole underwater feel. It is really not that hard to impress me with a movie, but this one fell just a little short of a perfect score. It was pretty much a monster that combines and keeps combining with its victims, but also mutating into a super-fish type creature. The special effects were about a B-Movie type, which is not bad, but it did look a little cheap. I mean I love B-Movies, I watch them all the time, but this was a little boarderline for me. It did, however, "keep me on the edge of my seat." You dont really see the monster till the end, which is a nice touch of suspense. I like the suspense, it was a good touch. And a little romance in the mix is cool too. It was a solid 7/10, Something I would not watch too often but I would suggest seeing at least once.

Leviathan

Posted : 17 years, 4 months ago on 28 November 2006 06:04

Leviathan is the underwater version of "The Thing/The Blob" where Peter Weller and his crew battle battle a mutagen 16,000 feet below the Atlantic. Its also got a little bit of an "Alien" feel as well with the whole futuristic theme. Not bad, but not great.
