(OK) Low key, love space thriller of 3 and a robot; somo idiot plots, but Douglas is excellent figthing and almost killing Keitel. Good set design...

Description: A huge spacecraft is in orbit around the planet Saturn and is ready to launch a ship to one of the moons, conducting an experiment on board. There is a small experimental food research station on the Moon that contains a hydroponic culture system, which is maintained by a two-person team of scientists consisting of Adam (Douglas) and his colleague and lover Alex (Fawcett). The crew is also assisted by three robots. Adam, the young Alex and his dog Sally enjoy an Edenesque isolated life and grow their own food, while the Earth is overpopulated. Before the launch of the ship's captain he is killed by the psychologically unstable pilot Benson (Keitel). Benson takes his place and boards the ship for his trip to the base, carrying a box containing samples of brain tissue.

On board the lunar base, while contact with Earth is blocked for 22 days by an eclipse, the experiment is downloaded by an assistant "Demi-God series" robot named Hector. Benson says he will provide one of the crew "obsolete", the commander Adam is more likely to tell his partner that he is close to "abort" according to the government on Earth.

The cyborg is given a live brain size vessel (originally taken from several humans of the fetus) that Benson is then able to reprogram by connecting it with a connector on the back of the head. In the process of the machine acquires the homicidal nature of Benson and his lust for the beautiful Alex. Hector initially kills Sally the dog and then Benson assaults, since it has been learned about him that he was a murderer during the reprogramming process. However, Adam and Alex manage to disable the robot while it is recharging. Adam accuses Benson of incompetence and orders him to dismount the robot and return to Earth when the eclipse ends.

Benson obliges, but Hector is soon put back together to assemble older robots from the lunar base, while Benson tries to convince Alex to go with him to Earth. He then knocks Adam unconscious, but Hector intervenes and kills him just as he is about to drag Alex with him from the waiting spaceship. Hector also explodes the ship, leaving everyone stranded on the lunar base.

The rest of the film includes a battle scene while the two scientists try to prevent the deadly machine and make repeated attempts to destroy it before it's too late. In the final scene, the damned Adam kills the cyborg and himself. Alex returns to Earth, alone. ... (more)
