Gremlins (1984)
This was one of my favorite movies as a kid and I watched Gremlins 2 last Christmas so this year it was the original's turn.
hsallinen's rating:

Satan Claus qualifies this as a Christmas movie, but more importantly this is a great action movie and one of my favorites. My little brother hadn't seen it so we watched it.
hsallinen's rating:

I first watched this from one of those canal + channels when I was suffering from a awful self inflicted (alcohol related) affliction and I think that it really didn't have a positive effect on the rating then. This movie is a great western with a amazing soundtrack that I listen every now and then. Brad Pitt is a really great in his role and so is Casey Affleck. I added a star to the rating.

The Crow (1994)
The news of the reboot made me want to see this one again and so I bought this. Still good.
hsallinen's rating:

This was a fun zombie film with a good mix of comedy and horror.
hsallinen's rating:

8MM (1999)
Nick Cage and snuff films... I was expecting a bit more from this to be honest.
hsallinen's rating:

Scrooged (1988)
I saw this as a kid and only remembered the decomposing golfer corpse that gave me nightmares back then. This is quite funny movie and Bill Murray as a asshole character works every time.
hsallinen's rating:

Rare Exports (2010)
This is good movie (one of the best finnish movies in years) but the small budget really shows in the awful CGI at the latter half of the movie.
hsallinen's rating:

Bad Santa (2003)
I bought some Christmas movies to watch during this December. I started that with this movie that I remembered really liking and I had not seen in years. The movie has aged pretty well and was really funny still.
hsallinen's rating:

Space + suicide missions = greatness (Mass Effect 2 and now this). Seeing Darth Vader in some new scenes... happiness. Alan Tudyk is great.
hsallinen's rating:

The Walking Dead (2010)
Season 7: Wow, that was a great season premiere. Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan, well, he is great fun but scary character at the same time.
Season 6 (spring 2016). The sixth season has been great overall.
15.2 Episode 9: This might be my new favorite episode. Now I'm really looking forward for Jeffrey Dean Morgan's (Negan's) entrance.

Videodrome (1983)
Watched this at night and the fleshy videotapes kinda woke me up again. I tried to watch this something like 10 years ago from a friend's dvd, but that had wrong region coding and didn't work at the time in any of my players. So this was added to the I really need to see this at some point-movies queue. And finally this year I got around buying it and I had had really high hopes for it ever since I first talked about it with my friend almost ten years ago after a night of drinking and borrowing the dvd. And this was a great but weird movie that I liked really much.
hsallinen's rating:

The Raid 2 (2014)
Watched this the second time and this time from a bluray and had correct subtitles so the experience was a bit better. The action scenes are just that great that even if the story is the basic undercover-stuff that has been done to death already this is a great action movie experience. That kitchen fight is just so close to perfection.
hsallinen's rating:

Luke Cage (2016)
Two episodes watched and, so far, I'm liking this quite much . * Finally finished the season 1 and this was pretty enjoyable show. Not as good as Daredevil in my opinion.
hsallinen's rating:

Eagle vs Shark (2007)
Bought this from Amazon with What we do in the Shadows, because that got me really interested on Taika Waititi's earlier movies. And this was as well a good and funny movie. At the beginning I had hard time with Jemaine Clements hair... I really hate stupid wigs/hairstyles in comedies. But that fitted the weird character pretty well so I got over it.
hsallinen's rating:

Inside Llewyn Davis (2013)
I've had this on bluray for a few years and finally got around to watching it. And I really liked this movie. The humor was good and the characters were funny too.
hsallinen's rating:

99 Homes (2014)
The acting is really good, Shannon is enjoyable, almost over the top asshole. the movie itself got a bit boring and story-wise you kinda know how it's going to go down, right from the start.
hsallinen's rating:

Chef (2014)
This one was really enjoyable and funny movie. That lava cake meltdown with cracking voice is one of the funniest scenes that I've seen for a while.
hsallinen's rating:

Superman/Batman: Apocalypse (2010)
The Trinity goes after Darkseid that has kidnapped Kara (Supergirl). This was entertaining but not the best of the dc animations that I've seen.
hsallinen's rating:

Superman vs. the Elite (2012)
I watched some Superman/Batman animation movies with my brother starting with this one.
hsallinen's rating:

This is propably my favorite war-movie and I had not watched it for a while... so re-watch was in order.
hsallinen's rating:

Saving Private Ryan (1998)
Bought the bluray out of a bargain bin, and it had been years since last time watching this. The cast had some great faces that I had no memory of being in this, like Bryan Cranston and Nathan Fillion.
hsallinen's rating:

Eraserhead (1977)
Started watching this tired and really late, so that opening put me to sleep quite fast. But the next day I started over again and I liked this quite a lot.
hsallinen's rating:

Hot Tub Time Machine 2 (2015)
The first one is pretty great comedy and really surprised me when I watched it for the first time. But I had heard that this was quite bad so I just skipped it and had little hope for it. And yeah this one is just really awful and unfunny comedy sequel (really suprising).
hsallinen's rating:

Mistaken for Strangers (2013)
This is one of my favorite documentaries, there's just so much funny scenes but there's also a lot of heart in this documentary.
hsallinen's rating:

Nick Nolte's performance in this movie is just amazing. The fight scene's are more Rocky than realistic, but just like in Rocky they are enjoyable.
hsallinen's rating:

High Life (2009)
4 junkies decide to rob a ATM in the 80's and the robbery doesn't quite go as planned and funny shit happens.
hsallinen's rating:

Suicide Squad - Extended Cut (2016)
Well this didn't improve the movie like the Ultimate Cut of the BvS did that movie but there was some good scenes added. Ayer's cameo scene was funny and added the comedy later on when he meets KC in his sewer cell. I really like the characters in the movie but the movie itself could be a lot better. Joker was still really a big mix of good and awful for me. Leto's Joker was at times a great Jim Carrey-impersonator and at times Heath Ledger's Joker. I really liked the helicopter rescue-scene, where he was just crazy and shooting his gun everywhere. Then there's the scene with Common and Joker's hand tattoo laugh scene which was just weird. Jai Courtney's hillbilly Aussie Captain Boomerang is just great fun.
hsallinen's rating:

I got few really good laughs from this and most of the material was working well. Not as funny as Hot Rod is though.
hsallinen's rating:

Elvis & Nixon (2016)
Really great smaller film. Michael Shannon and Kevin Spacey are great and the film was an enjoyable sit through.
hsallinen's rating:

I finally decided to order the Batman TAS and watch it again, since the last time was in the 90's and early 2000's. The opening animation is just great and instantly brought back some serious nostalgic memories.
hsallinen's rating:

Room (2015)
Great acting and the movie was a great mix of really joyful moments and really dark ones.
hsallinen's rating:

Great acting and directing. The scenes at Hacksaw Ridge are just brutal and awesome.
hsallinen's rating:

This was really disappointing Sci-Fi thriller. The found footage style fitted the way the story was told but the movie itself was really dull and the tension building didn't just work for me. Seeing the top half of someone's face with amazed/scared face and light up by colored lights isn't really exiting/tense.
hsallinen's rating:

Great cast that gets stuck on the mountain. And the weather with Everest are really scary combination in this.
hsallinen's rating:

A four part documentary series about the Einsatsgruppen and their crimes.
hsallinen's rating:

The People Under the Stairs (1991)
Well, this was definitely something different that I was expecting. Gimp suit wearing, shotgun wielding nutcase chasing a kid around a manor in a reverse Home Alone with cannibals in the basement and inside the walls... also there's a rottweiler. And slapsticky shit happening... and Ving Rhames.
