"I ain't in no mood to die tonight." 1985 was a banner year for zombie films, as two "Dead" flicks hit cinemas within two weeks. George A. Romero's third zombie effort, Day of the Dead, came first, closely followed by The Return of the Living Dead, which was written and directed by Alien scribe Dan O'Bannon. Return is based on the novel of the same name by John Russo, who worked with Romero on Ni... read more

1985, a bumper year for the horror genre nonetheless, heralded the release of three disparate zombie films: "Day of the Dead", the bleak conclusion to Romero's seminal trilogy, Stuart Gordon's gore-laden "Re-Animator", and "Alien" scribe Dan O'Bannon's directorial debut, "The Return of the Living Dead". In terms of ranking the individualistic merits and themes of each film, "The Return of the Livi... read more

" Just when you thought it was safe to go back to the cemetery, those brain-eating zombies are back and hungry for more tasty mortals. A fiendish mix of outrageous humor and heart-stopping terror, When an accident at a medical supply warehouse reanimates an army of corpses, they arise from their graves with a ravenous hunger ... for human brains! The Return of the Living Dead is a 1985 American comedy horror film written and directed by Dan O'Bannon in his directorial debut, and starring Clu "

" The message: Zombies have come from out the graves, and are to feed on you and me, and nothing can stop them from eating your brains. Delicious yummy brains! How to prevent zombie outbreak the Reagan way? Basically like the end of Land of Confusion music video. Also, it was started by hazardous toxic waste material, that ended up being opened up. Oops."

"FORMAT: 35mm CONDITION: ★★★œ NOTES: Was supposed to attend in 2021, but had to control myself, so this has obviously been slightly worn a few more times since then. Diagonal scratches, a hint of fade throughout and numerous cuts in the opening ten minutes, but nothing serious otherwise. Besides, a film like this calls for such faults. DATE: August 16th 2023 CINEMA: The Prince Charles Cinema LOCATION: West End"

October 2020 Horrorfest (50 movies items)

"Re-watch - Oct. 24th This film tied in nicely with the one above thanks to both films featuring not just a cemetery but one that has resurrection in its name. I still love that this film is born from the idea that Night of the Living Dead was a fictional account of true events, allowing it to put its own spin on the genre. Plus it's fun from start to finish. I still wouldn't go so far as to call it great, but I'll gladly revisit it a few more times in the years ahead."
