Grindhouse (2007)
The more I think about it, the more I think these two films should've been presented in reverse order. Planet Terror kicked Death Proof's ass. That's a fact.

I still haven't seen that movie Avatar.

Top 10 Reasons I'm Glad the 90's are behind us:

...#4 We no longer have to pretend that Kevin Spacey is a Great Actor.

Cloud Atlas (2012)
Have I ever once truly enjoyed a Tom Hanks movie as much as I'm supposed to? Will that happen with this one?

I don't like Edward Norton half as much as I used to. Will that change? Or does he just suck now. While I'm thinking about it I should probably rewatch Moonrise Kingdom sometime soon and see if I can't warm up to both Norton and that film a little more.

The "leaky bathroom faucet" conversation featuring Marisa Tomei in a silk nightgown might be one of my all-time favorite moments in 90's cinema, if you really want to know the truth.
Xanadon't's rating:
Has Roman Polanski ever made a bad movie, or just pretty good and great ones? Hmmm... I should watch more Polanski.

My 6th favorite movie of the year so far is the trailer for Django Unchained.

I don't think an actor has ever been given a first-appearance in a film in a fashion so similar to a lame punch-line as Don Cheadle in the new Zemeckis movie. Camera casually pans right over a group of faceless suits sitting around a conference table until... BAM! Cheadle, bitches! Bet you forgot! We've got Cheadle up in this motherfucker too!!

Okay Zemeckis. Nice trump card. Just keep pattin' yourself on the back.

The most purely "cinematic" in the sense that we've come to cherish the term of all the Universal Horror movies. And the best sequel of all time.

I don't care how much you love Jeff Bridges -and I like the guy just fine- this movie would be better if you knew what the fuck he was saying more than half the the time.

Home Alone (1990)
It's the best thing John Hughes has ever written. Really. Even if he recycles a bit from Planes, Trains, and Automobiles at times. The whole "sweater with a big bird knit on it" scene? Priceless.
Xanadon't's rating:
Okay. Everyone just calm down. And understand that if this movie had come out 2 years after the "internet boom" and not 2 years before it wouldn't crack the IMDb top 50.

The Wolf Man (1941)
Ah yes. 1941. The twilight of the "Golden Era" when one wasn't a star unless your very soul was essentially owned by one studio or another. This indirectly led to some rather odd casting choices- like for instance a 5'6" Claude Rains playing the father of the 6'2" Lon Cheney Jr.

Possible? Sure... barely.

Noticeably odd? Every damn time you watch it.

This Is 40 (2012)
Another 140 minute Judd Apatow flick? No thanks. Instead, a couple years from now I'll watch a few Paul Rudd clips from the movie on youtube if I get bored or drunk enough.
