While the opening scene is definitively intense, the scene that scared me the most when I first watched it, was the scene where the shark eats the kid on the floating mattress. The bystanders panicking only makes this scene more terrifying.

Alien (1979)
Most people would say that the scene with the chestburster is the scariest scene in the film. And while I do think it's scary as well, I've always found the reveal of Ash being an android to be much freakier. The intense shaking while white liquid bursts out of his mouth, and the really weird sounds he makes really freaked me out when I first saw this flick.

Orlok's rating:

The Exorcist (1973)
I admit that I really don't think this film is that scary, but I find the scenes where Father Karras is having visions of his dead mother, to be really uncomfortable and eerie.

Orlok's rating:

Deep Red (1975)
The film itself is pretty creepy for a giallo, but the scene that really stuck with me, is the scene where a grotesque doll comes running out of the darkness towards a victim. The look of the doll, the creepy giggling, and the fast movement really makes this one scary scene.

Orlok's rating:

A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)
I've always found the scene with Johnny Depp getting turned into a blood-geyser, to be really freaking scary. The mother's reaction, and the fact that we really don't know what Freddy specifically did to him, adds to the overall scariness.

Orlok's rating:

Twin Peaks (1990)
Maddy's death. It's just so strange and captivating, while it's incredibly dark and violent. The reveal of the killer makes the scene even more disturbing.

Orlok's rating:

Insidious (2011)
You know the old lady? Yeah, the one that appears in almost all of the films advertisement.
Well, she is a parasite-ghost, that wants to possess a living person through astral projection. The scariest part is that she's after a kid, and she appears to be closer and closer to the kid on each photo that is taken of said kid...

I like this one far more than the original, and I find it to be a lot scarier.
There's one scene in particular that really stands out, and it's actually a jump-scare. I normally don't care for jump-scares, because they aren't usually that scary. But the way it is shot, the music, and everything else about this clip is really scary, and it sticks with you.

Noroi (2005)
The really, really creepy ending to Noroi, with one of the most fucked up faces ever.
Orlok's rating:

These are the moments I find genuinely creepy or downright terrifying, in both film and TV.
I might post some Youtube videos, but I'll mostly just explain some of the scenes, so there will be some spoilers.
