The Unseen
The movies of 2013 that I still wish to see, in order of preference, most-to-least.

The Seen
As above, the movies of 2013 that I have watched in descending order and rank.
Star Trek Into Darkness (2013)

The first film of the reboot was fantastic but this one (while good) just didn't measure up for me. Hopefully a third film will be better. I still love the cast!

Now You See Me (2013)

This started out strong and quite interesting but lost steam in the second half. Still, a good film.

The Lone Ranger (2013)

While I love Johnny Depp and watched the Lone Ranger when I was a kid...this movie leaves far more to be desired than it offers. Meh.

Thor: The Dark World (2013)

Not as good as the first one and the scenes with Thor and Loki are the best...still, it gives hope for the next installment to step it up.

The Last Stand (2013)

This was just fun to watch. Nothing fancy though. It was nice seeing Arnold but my favorite scenes were the ones w/ the deputies & Knoxville's crazy ass.
Michael S's rating:

Oblivion (2013)

Not great but not bad either. There was much they could have done to make this more interesting. This had potential but the story/plot was like a glass of Coke left on the counter too long; it fell kinda flat.
It was enjoyable, as always, though seeing Olga onscreen. Absolutely beautiful. :)
Michael S's rating:

Elysium (2013)

Slightly interesting. I suppose it's a decent sci-fi thriller but it's low on thrills. Matt Damon's inclusion in the cast is a plus as is Alice Braga's and William Fichtner's. Still, it's a dystopian/utopian tale that it seems I've heard/read/seen before...
Michael S's rating:

Man of Steel (2013)

Again, not great but not bad either. A much darker take but the whole 'wandering around' bit in the beginning had me at a loss. What the hell that had to do with the Superman story is beyond me. Still...some cool special effects in the fight scenes but they got old before the movie was over.
Honestly, I didn't think it was all that better than the previous Superman film...just different.

Probably one of my most anticipated of this years crop and, man, was I let down. I expected so much more of this film. I'm not saying it was bad but damn, I really expected it to kick ass (at least) as an action flick.
I love Renner and Arterton; they are two of my favorite younger-gen actors working today. This movie, while it had some cool scenes, just fell a bit flat for me. A lackluster effort.

Jack The Giant Slayer (2013)

Another that I was truly looking forward to seeing and, outside of a few scenes, I was actually a bit bored. A poor effort for the source material and the capabilities of studios these days.
Michael S's rating:

I actually couldn't tell you the last time I visited the theatre; the last few years have been rough, to say the least. Hopefully the coming year will bring a few bright spots, silver linings and (at least) a few chances for an aisle seat and a bucket of popcorn swimming in butter.
The norm for me these days is to catch them as they hit DVD, Netflix or cable. Still, this past year there were a number of films that I wanted to see and few that I actually had the chance to. So I thought I would make a list (imagine that!) of the ones that I still wish to see....and the handful that I actually did.
