That movie was partly very boring - there was a moment when I started to fall asleep but then suddenly booooom!! (the scene in the kitchen at daytime) and I jumped up... Normally I'm not the person to be scared easily but in this movie I was shocked maybe 4 times. The sound plays a big role here, so turn up the volume and bass.

That was a complete misunderstanding for me. I couldn't stand the dialogues spoken in verses and stoped watching it after 20 minutes.

This is a rewatch (some years ago I watched it only partly). Django Reinhardt's beautiful guitar music and Sean Penn are the stars of this film. The story could be a little bit more complex and I would prefer to cut the interviews out.
