Not only was David Bowie's hair, clothing and sexual orientation questionable in the '80s - so was his smile! The iconic rocker sported a different set of teeth before trading in his fang-like incisors for perfect pearly whites.

Miley Cyrus is all about flashing her million dollar smile ... and then some. The singer/actress appeared at a MySpace launch event in Los Angeles with a mouth full of glitter as she showed off a shiny gold grill on June 12, 2013. The edgy songstress paired the sparkly mouth piece with her signature cropped 'do and plenty of red lipstick as she hammed it up for photographers on the red carpet. Hey, maybe she was hoping a little extra bling would help distract our attention from another much talked about piece of jewelry of hers -- her on-again off-again engagement ring. But this isn't the first time Miley's teeth have caused a buzz ...

"Mean Girl" star Lindsay Lohan must have been skipping not only community service, but also trips to the dentist. The troubled starlet flashed brownish yellow teeth (l.) on the red carpet on Oct. 13, 2011, sparking drug-related rumors. Lohan was quick to clean up her act, debuting newly-whitened teeth just a few days later. Lohan's sticking with the cleaner image, flashing her pearly whites again in April 2012 (r.).

It took a little more than just some magic to transform Matthew Lewis. After 10 years of starring in the 'Harry Potter' franchise, the British 22-year-old actor has gone from being the chubby outcast to the handsome rising star. To play bumbling Hogwarts student Neville Longbottom in the series' eight films, Lewis had to wear false yellow teeth, shoes two sizes too large and prosthetics behind his ears to make them stick out. Throughout the series, his character was often the subject of ridicule by school villain Draco Malfoy. But in the film's final installment, 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2,' Neville ends up to be quite the hero.

After years of professional boxing, it's no surprise that Mike Tyson has had a few knockouts. But if you're going to get new teeth, why ruin a good smile with a gap toothed pair of gold chompers? Thankfully, Hollywood came knocking in the form of 2009's hit movie 'The Hangover,' and the boxer replaced his blinged out mouth with a set of pearly whites – with his trademark gap still intact, of course.

George Clooney's chompers are no laughing matter! The Oscar-winning actor's attempt to round out his superstar look fell flat after he flashed a a set of blindingly white chompers in May 2008. According to Jonathan Abenaim, D.M.D., a cosmetic dentist who hasn't treated the actor, George probably had work done because he grinds his teeth. "When you grind your teeth, they get shorter," Dr. Abenaim told Star magazine. "To restore the original look, the dentist has to lengthen teeth with porcelain veneers or crowns." In addition to veneers, he thinks George had a "smile lift," a surgical procedure usually done with a laser that brings the gum up to expose more tooth.

Courtney Love is no stranger to plastic surgery: the rocker has admitted to having her lips and nose done. But to complete her transformation from grungy to glam, Courtney appears to have also replaced her dull-colored smile with a set of porcelain veneers.

He's got one of the best smiles in Hollywood, but it took some work for Tom Cruise to achieve his signature grin. The actor decided to fix his smile in 2005 after taking one of his children to the orthodontist who had noticed that the star's teeth were out of alignment. Soon enough, Tom was sporting see-through braces for the next year-and-a-half.

Before breaking out onto the music scene, Celine Dion was reportedly told to remake her image. In addition to undergoing a physical transformation, which included cutting her hair and plucking her eyebrows, Celine had her teeth capped to cover the incisors that at one time had a Quebec magazine nickname her "Canine Dion."

Chris Rock has Mel Gibson to thank for his perfect teeth. The comedian reportedly paid $150,000 for his mouth makeover from the salary he earned working on their 1997 flick, "Lethal Weapon."

Keyshia Cole ditched her eccentric style for a superstar look, which includes a new set of pearly whites. In June 2008, the singer began sporting a more polished look thanks to a procedure that closed the gap between her two front teeth.

During her transition from Disney star to Hollywood actress, Hilary Duff made a few visits to the dentist. Hilary's first trip was reportedly due to her weak teeth. "My teeth aren't the strongest, and I kept chipping them on the microphone," Duff said in 2005. "One show, I literally spit half of my two front teeth out." However, oversized, blinding white chompers didn't fit the delicate features on her face. Hilary has since fixed her Chiclet teeth for a more natural looking smile.

There's no denying country crooner Keith Urban had his teeth fixed before making it big in his career. Although he has never admitted to any surgery, Keith appears to have had his teeth whitened a few shades lighter, as well as had gotten veneers to fix the spacing between his teeth.

Before his makeover, Nicolas Cage's teeth were nothing to smile about! The actor appears to have replaced his crooked smile for the straight, white Hollywood grin he now bears in his blockbuster movies.

Of course the first noticeable difference in Steve-O's smile is the drastic whitening process that took his yellow-stained teeth to pearly white. The funny guy's makeover reportedly shut down his dentist's office for a week. "Girls refused to make out with me!" he once told Jay Leno on "The Tonight Show" about his new choppers.

Leave it to Queen Bey to make a bedazzled set of fangs look good! Showing off a look on her Tumblr blog that can only be described as vampire chic, Beyonce flashed her pearly whites to the camera, revealing a glittering gold grill that peeked out along her bottom row of teeth. The Queen of Pop posted two photos of her shiny new mouth grill --made by Cap Master with 24 diamonds and an open-tooth design, no less -- on Instagram on July 2, 2013. "Don't hate me. Hate my #grilz. @cap_master," the 54-year-old singer wrote. In one of the photos, which look to be for a possible Harper's Bazaar shoot, Madonna shows off her new golden caps as she bites down on a sword. "Live by the sword... For @harpersbazaarus," she captioned.
