" Escape from New York is a 1981 American science fiction action film co-written, co-scored and directed by John Carpenter. It stars Kurt Russell, Lee Van Cleef, Ernest Borgnine, Donald Pleasence, Isaac Hayes, Adrienne Barbeau, and Harry Dean Stanton. The film's storyline, set in the near-future world of 1997, concerns a crime-ridden United States, which has converted Manhattan Island in New York City into the country's sole maximum-security prison. Air Force One is hijacked by anti-governmen"

"Pros: Kurt Russell, as Snake Pliisken. It’s a dark, cynical take on the future. The music by John Carpenter. New York City, is very dark and dangerous In the movie. Lee Van Cleff, Donald Pleaance, Adrienne Barbesu, and Issac Hayes, as The Duke. It’s one of my favourite John Carpenter films. "

"1997. New York City is now a maximum security prison. Breaking out is impossible. Breaking in is insane."
" Date: 7/10/2021 Viewed: Blu-ray Re-watch Note: Today is the 40th anniversary of Escape from New York and it was the perfect time to revisit it. Escape from New York is one of my top 10 favorite movies of all time because it has left a huge impact on me growing up. I first watched Escape from New York back in 1996 when they were airing it on TV to promote Escape from LA and I have loved it ever since. I consider Escape from New York to be one of the best action films of the 1980s in my opinion"
