Living in a time where everyone is obsessed with zombies, disease, and everything that's closely related to post-apocalyptic doom, 1979's Mad Max hit like a cool air of an electric hand A/C. Just like how everyone seems to think that psychology in movies equal to copious amount of blood and numerous jump-scares, they also think that zombies and/or gangsters will be the post-apocalyptic world's onl... read more

I have re-watched it recently and, even though I was pretty sure I saw the damned thing when I was young, I think I actually never saw it at the time. I think it has to do with the fact that ‘Mad Max 2’ was called ‘The Road Warrior’, therefore ignoring the first installment so I probably thought the sequel was the first movie. Anyway, this movie is definitely a milestone and for many reas... read more

A bit of suspense, a bit of action, a bit of dystopia... Mel Gibson before he went wacko. What else do we need?

Movies I Watched in January 2021 (56 movies items)

" Date: 1/27/2021 Viewed: 4K UHD Re-Watch Note: This is the movie that started it all. Even 42 years later, the first Mad Max movie is still a solid movie. Mad Max may not be the first post-apocalyptic story ever (H. G. Wells' Things to Come did come out first), but it did help inspired many post-apocalyptic stories and spawn a big wave of copy cats during the 1980s. I love how Mad Max started off as a low-budget independent movie before it became a big mainstream movie franchise from Hollywoo"

"Re-watch - Dec. 2nd I wasn't sure what film I wanted to kick off my month with, and initially this wasn't even a planned stop for me. But then the news broke that Hugh Keays-Byrne passed away. And since I've seen Fury Road more times in the past few years I figured I'd watch him as Toecutter instead. He does such a great job of bringing this character to life, a mix of humor and menace with a strong presence that makes for a memorable performance. Sadly I haven't seen much of his work outside o"

RS: 50 Best Sci-Fi Movies of the 1970s (51 movies items)

"Part down-under Western, part Seventies vigilante thriller and part action-packed postapocalyptic road movie, this landmark Ozploitation movie imagines a war-ravaged future in which cops like “Mad Max” Rockatansky are the only things that stand between lawless biker gangs and what’s left of civilization. George Miller’s vision of a dystopia-as-demolition-derby helped turn Mel Gibson into an international star; thanks to a bad overdubbing job regarding the Aussie accents, it initially st"
