Living in a time where everyone is obsessed with zombies, disease, and everything that's closely related to post-apocalyptic doom, 1979's Mad Max hit like a cool air of an electric hand A/C. Just like how everyone seems to think that psychology in movies equal to copious amount of blood and numerous jump-scares, they also think that zombies and/or gangsters will be the post-apocalyptic world's onl... read more

A classic

I have re-watched it recently and, even though I was pretty sure I saw the damned thing when I was young, I think I actually never saw it at the time. I think it has to do with the fact that ‘Mad Max 2’ was called ‘The Road Warrior’, therefore ignoring the first installment so I probably thought the sequel was the first movie. Anyway, this movie is definitely a milestone and for many reas... read more

A bit of suspense, a bit of action, a bit of dystopia... Mel Gibson before he went wacko. What else do we need?

"6.6. Blu-ray Uusintakatselu. Muistini yhdistelee asioita ja näin tiedän, että olen viimeksi katsonut tämän 12 vuotta sitten, kuukauden tarkkuudella. Suoraa toimintaa todella innovatiivisesti toteutettuna. Pahat budjettirajoitteet kääntyvät eduksi upeissa kamera-ajoissa ja leikkauksissa, jolloin katsoja on toiminnan ytimessä mukana. Keskiosiota on kovasti kritisoitu tylsäksi ja huonosti elokuvaan istuvaksi. En tähän yhdy, sillä se taas johtaa suoraan pitkään ja painostavaan tapa"

"17.4. Blu-ray (rewatch) Ajattelin katsoa tällä viikolla kaikki Mad Maxit, koska tuntuu siltä. Oon pelannut tässä viimeaikoina sitä vuonna 2015 julkaistua Mad Max -peliä ja se innosti katsastamaan nää elokuvatkin uudestaan. On muuten ihan hyvä peli. Sain muuten eilen tietää että tää alkuperäinen Mad Max (en tiedä muista sarjan elokuvista) on dubattu jenkkejä varten koska ne ei ymmärrä australialaista aksenttia. Käsittämätön juttu. Pakkohan toi asia oli tarkistaa ja kyll"

1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die (1970's) (158 movies items)

" Notes: This movie is definitely a milestone and for many reasons. Indeed, not only was it the directing debut for George Miller, one of the most successful directors coming from Australia, but it was also of course Mel Gibson’s debut as well. To be honest, in my opinion, the whole thing didn’t grow old very well but, with such a small budget, they still managed to make something quite striking and pretty bad-ass, that’s for sure. Since then, it has become a cult classic and it definitel"

Movie Reviews (1101-1150) (50 movies items)

" Classic revenge story where a man's life is reduced to nothing and he takes the bad guy's lives "eye for an eye". The film is full of car and bike-crashes with some exciting fast-edited road kills and made Mel Gibson a star. Be careful not to watch the laughable dubbed U.S. version since no one could understand Aussie accents as the original version is the best (of course)."

The future kind of sucks. (362 movies items)

"Reason for the future sucking: War has devastated the world, people start taking to the roads, and stealing gas, and biker gangs over whelm villages and communities. Year it takes place: 2000, although another site suggests it's 1994."

500 Essential Cult Movies (502 movies items)

" As entertaining as it is unrepentantly violent, this low-budget Australian film detailing a crime-ridden dystopian future became a huge international hit. Mad Max is one of the better films in a rash of bloody revenge flicks (see First Blood) that came out in the late seventies and early eighties. This may in part be due to directer George Miller's previous career as an emergency-room doctor where he witnessed numerous catastrophic injuries, and which he later translated on-screen and in detai"
