2 films, both were first time viewings.
Tadpole (2002)
WTF? Aaron Stanford doesn't even look 15 at all! The film itself is quite average and far-fetched. I mean really, who wrote this?!? Oh well, it has some good performances and it's nice to see Sigourney weaver in something that has nothing to with science (actually, that's a lie, she plays a Cardiologist) or action.

JodieBoner's rating:

Alien (1979)
Another Sigourney Weaver film, only this time it's the one that made her career! The first 25 minutes or so I found incredibly boring, but then! Wow, this is a great film! I loved it! The twist at the end is totally mind-blowing! I was thinking all kinds of shit, but not that! I was like "oh no, it's in the cat! Shit, it'll be on the roof..." But no! :D

Not scary, but gripping.

4 films, including a new first time viewing.
I love this film, it's so funny! The three witches are perfectly cast (Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy) and I love the other characters too! Also, it's for everyone. People of all ages will absolutely love it :)

JodieBoner's rating:

Charlotte's Web (2006)
I love this film, it's so sweet! It's also the only time I will ever cry at the death of a spider. :'( I love Dakota Fanning and the voice cast is just phenomenal: Julia Roberts, Steve Buscemi, John Cleese, Kathy Bates, Reba McIntire, Robert Redford, Cedric the Entertainer, Andre 3000, Thomas Haden Church and even Oprah Winfrey!

JodieBoner's rating:

Prime (2005)
Well, I liked it... It had strong leads in Meryl Streep and Uma Thurman and the deliciously hot Bryan Greenberg and the script was brilliant. Although the story was quite unrealistic and I know that that's not necessarily a bad thing... Oh, I dunno! It just lacked something, something that even Queen Meryl couldn't bring to it...

JodieBoner's rating:

I really liked it, it managed to capture the beauty of a story that ordinarily wouldn't be expected to come across as well on film as it does by book. The cast was fantastic, although as a person who has read (and loves) the book, I was not chuffed with the casting of Ron Livingston as Gomez. This is because in the book, Gomez comes across quite a sexy man. Unfortunately, Ron Livingston isn't. Sorry...

Congratulations are in order for Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana as the two main characters. Their acting ability and chemistry (along with pure sex appeal AND the fact that they both got their asses out) was outstanding!

Home Alone (1990)
Who doesn't love this?!? It's fantastic, however many shit sequels may have dragged it's name through the mud! Macauley Culkin is wonderful, charismatic and adorable in his infamous role as Kevin McAllister and of course I absolutely love all the slapstick bit in the second half. It's a family favourite, whether it's Christmas time or not...

JodieBoner's rating:

Gnomeo & Juliet (2011)
I absolutely loved this! The voice cast is absolutely amazing: James McAvoy, Emily Blunt, Maggie Smith, Julie Walters, Michael Caine, Jason Statham and my favourite character was voiced by Ashley Jensen. The story is familiar, obviously, but I think it was a really clever, sparkly adaptation... Like it was fresh from the imagination of an extremely cultured, girly, 7-year-old! Loved it!

JodieBoner's rating:

June 5th
4 films, all first time viewings.
Valentine's Day (2010)
Wow, what a cast! Jessica Alba, Kathy Bates, Jessica Biel, Bradley Cooper (HOT), Eric Dane (HOT), Patrick Dempsey (HOT), Hector Elizondo, Jamie Foxx (HOT), Jennifer Garner, Topher Grace (HOT), Anne Hathaway, Carter Jenkins (HOT), Ashton Kutcher (HOT), Queen Latifah, Taylor Lautner (HOT), George Lopez, Shirley MacLaine, Emma Roberts, Julia Roberts, Bryce Robinson and even Taylor Swift. I also loved it how all the characters were linked! :)

JodieBoner's rating:

Zombieland (2009)
Hilarious! Jesse Eisenberg is adorable, Woody Harrelson is bad-ass, Emma Stone is feisty and Abigail Breslin is awesome, I also love the context of Bill Murray's appearance (as himself). :D

I just loved it!

I just loved it!
JodieBoner's rating:

Source Code (2011)
This one was a bit of a mind-fucker, but I managed to smack myself in the head hard enough to kick-start my little brain and I was actually able you understand it! Yayy! Jake Gyllenhaal is definitely one of our time's greatest actors and when you throw in underrated gems the likes of Vera Farmiga and Michelle Monaghan, you have a recipe for success. I love this film, it's wonderful and I strongly recommend it! :)

JodieBoner's rating:

June 6th
3 films, 2 first time viewings and a favourite.
Blue Valentine (2010)
The thing that carries this film is definitely the acting! It's absolutely phenomenal, Ryan Gosling is fantastic but Michelle Williams... Wow, just wow! How has she not won an Oscar yet?!? I know she was nominated for this role, but there was no doubt Natalie Portman deserved it. I love the script, the story is incredibly real, the characters feel like acquaintances of our own when we watch it, it's wonderful!

JodieBoner's rating:

College Road Trip (2008) (2008)
I only wayched it because I love Raven-Symoné and it was good, but not brilliant. It's not very original and the comedy has already been done like a million times and although I did enjoy it and I found it funny, it was quite cliché. Still, it's worth a watch... I think...

JodieBoner's rating:

Doubt (2008)
Stunning acting from what is quite a small cast, only four predominant actors. Amy Adams is fantastic and deserved much more recognition for this role. Meryl Streep is just gob-smacking as usual (I've seen Kate Winslet in The Reader, who beat Meryl in the 2009 awards' season, and I'm not sure whether she deserved to or not). Philip Seymour Hoffman is terrific. And Viola Davis is also very very good (I also love her in The Help). Great things come in small packages! Also the director, John Patrick Shanley (who wrote the original play on which it is based) did a good job!

JodieBoner's rating:

June 7th
3 more first time viewings.
Julie & Julia (2009)
I did not expect this! It was fantastic, Amy Adams is amazing and sort of outshines Queen Meryl a little bit in this, only a little though... They're both wonderful. :) It's funny, appeals to everyone, and it made me hungry, now that is a good film! :) Also, Stanley Tucci! Yayy!

JodieBoner's rating:

Attack the Block (2011)
I didn't expect to like this at all, but it was actually quite funny and the aliens were quite good! You'd expect that much swearing to be bordering on contrived though... Except this is Britain, so it aint! :D

JodieBoner's rating:

June 8th
5 films, 3 were first time viewings.
The Hours (2002)
It's all very dramatic isn't it?!? Very dramatic lesbians. I love it! Nicole Kidman was very good as Virginia Woolf and I'm very happy for her winning the Oscar, but I don't think she should have beaten Renée Zelwegger in Chicago and even within this film, Julianne Moore was the best! I don't see how her role was only a supporting one... Meryl Streep was good too, love them all!

JodieBoner's rating:

The Iron Giant (1999)
I've always like this, even though it used to scare me and upset when the giant nearly dies... But he doesn't, so it's all good! And I never knew that Jennifer Aniston is Hogarth's mum, but watching it now I can tell :)

JodieBoner's rating:

The Hole (2010)
Genuinely quite terrifying. It helps that Chris Massoglia is beautiful though... Haley Bennett is good, convincing when it comes to the horror bits, I also love her in Music & Lyrics. And Teri Polo was good too.

JodieBoner's rating:

Snow White and the Huntsman (2012)
I actually like Kristen Stewart recently in her non-Twilight roles and this proves why! She CAN act, she IS pretty and I like her quite a bit! Also, Chris Hemsworth is absolutely fit as fuck and lifted up his shirt in this film! Yayy! Also, Charlize Theron is a Goddess! I am in love with her. She is wonderful. This movie is so kick-ass! Watch it!

JodieBoner's rating:

Burn After Reading (2008)
WOW! I expected an action movie with comedic parts, not a full-on comedy! :D This cast is phenomenal! George Clooney, Frances McDormand, John Malkovich, Tilda Swinton and an out-of-type performance from Brad Pitt as an absolutely idiotic personal trainer! He's so hot...

JodieBoner's rating:

June 9th
2 more first time viewings.
Chloe (2010)
GROSS! But I like the film still, Amanda Seyfried is smokin' and gives a fantastic performance! So does Julianne Moore and there's exactly 25 years between the two (both were born on December 3rd, in 1985 and 1960 respectively). If you've seen it you'll understand the emphasis on this...

JodieBoner's rating:

June 10th
3 more first time viewings!
Larry Crowne (2011)
This too, is better than I thought it would be, Julia Roberts is wonderful! I also loved Tom Hanks (with whom I share my birthday, claim to fame) and I think he did a great job as director too, I know how difficult it is to act in something you're also directing because you have to critique everyone including yourself and I know most actors would rather be told what to do, me included... Loved it, it's incredibly underrated and you should really watch it!

JodieBoner's rating:

Sabrina (1954)
Audrey Hepburn was calling me in her delicious voice so I decided to watch another of her Oscar-worthy performances (She received a Best Actress nomination for this and won Best Actress for Roman Holiday). I love her!! She has something that nobody else can bring to the screen like she used to. And Humphrey Bogart did well supporting her, although since this is the only film of his I've seen I can't really judge him properly on his acting... Loved this, see it! :)

JodieBoner's rating:

Aliens (1986)
Even better than the first! I absolutely adore this! Sigourney Weaver is just amazing! She should've won that Oscar! But oh well, I've not seen Children of a Lesser God so as far as I know Marlee Matlin deserved it just as much... Also, Carrie Henn was wonderful in this too (that's the little girl, Newt)! Another thing about this, there was a very good amount of hot men, which never hurts! :D

Oh, and
Love it! :)

Oh, and
Get away from her, you bitch!
Love it! :)

2 films today, neither were first time viewings.
Bridget Jones's Diary (2001)
I love Renée Zellweger, but this is not her best work. I like it, and it's outrageous and funny, but it doesn't stick with me somehow. I'll always remember it as "that film where she has to pick between Hugh Grant and Colin Firth back when they were both gorgeous and relatively young, the lucky bitch," which is of course not a very good thing! :D

JodieBoner's rating:

June 12th
3 films today, two were first time viewings.
The Runaways (2010)
I thought that I would absolutely hate this (I don't particularly like rock music) but I thought, hey, Dakota Fanning is in it and I love her. OMG IT WAS AMAZING!! The aforementioned Miss Fanning brings such a wisdom and maturity to the screen that is so far beyond her years (then 15) in this and it's almost heartbreaking to watch! Also, Kristen Stewart can act! OMG! I just love it, it wasn't perfect but then not a lot of things are... Watch it!

JodieBoner's rating:

Legally Blonde (2001)
I love it, it's so funny! :D The characters are all fantastic and I honestly feel that the script is quite original and bold.
It was directed by Robert Luketic, who also directed Monster-in-Law, another of my favourite films.

Another film with a great cast, led by the brilliant Reese Witherspoon.
Other cast members include:
Jennifer Coolidge
Selma Blair
Luke Wilson
Victor Garber
Matthew Davis
Ali Larter
Raquel Welch also makes a cameo appearance as "Mrs Windham Vandermark".

The Secret Life of Bees (2008)
Another Dakota Fanning film, an even better one! She's fab in this! The rest of the cast is strong too, Queen Latifah, Jennifer Hudson, Alicia Keys (who's absolutely fantastic btw), Tristan Wilds as well as Brits Sophie Okonedo and Paul Bettany. I love film about racism in the 60s for some reason...

Proof (2005)
OMFG nerdy! Most of it really bored me... I expected so much more from a film that has such strong leads. Gwyneth Paltrow's performance is definitely this film's "Saving Grace" and I always like a little bit of Jake Gyllenhaal but this film didn't strike me as anything more than average.

JodieBoner's rating:

Taxi Driver (1976)
Boring to start with, but persistence is the key! :D I liked it once it got going a little, the last half hour is just wow! :) Robert De Niro is phenomenal, and Jodie Foster! Well done to her, she was about 12/13 at the time and played a prostitute. But I do think Martin Scorsese is one of those rare people who never really makes a bad film.

A Star Is Born (1937)
OMG, I absolutely loved it! I thought "I know it'll be boring cos it's from 1937 but I'll give it a shot considering I've promised myself to watch the work of every Oscar nominated/winning actress (Janet Gaynor, the female lead, won the first ever Best Actress award way back in 1929)" but shit, how wrong was I?

JodieBoner's rating:

Away from Her (2006)
A film about Alzheimer's Disease, morbid. I really liked it, even though it's tragic, it's beautiful. And Julie Christie is amazing. There was this one quote at the beginning that went like:
I loved that. Also, an elderly lady said "clusterfuck" which is always good!
(She's looking at flowers) "When I look away, I forget what yellow means. But I can look again. There's something delicious in oblivion."
I loved that. Also, an elderly lady said "clusterfuck" which is always good!

Wow. Really quite good. I liked it. There are some good performances in this, especially from Rebecca De Mornay, who after this and The Hand That Rocks The Cradle, is clearly a little too good at playing the revenge-fuelled mothafuckin' crazy bitch... I liked Jaime King too (she looked a bit like Danielle Panabaker, but blonde) and Brianna Evigan is always good.

JodieBoner's rating:

Chicago (2002)
I absolutely fucking loved it! Without a doubt one of the best movie musicals I've ever seen, and what an amazing cast! Renée Zellweger, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Richard Gere, John C. Reilly, Queen Latifah, Christine Baranski...

I couldn't help but notice that Catherine was so much better at dancing than Renée was...

JodieBoner's rating:

Holy shit! Oh my God wow! I cannot believe how good this was! Noomi Rapace, where have you been all my life?!? I love you! Seriously though, this film! I tried to read the book once and had to stop because it was incredibly boring and I didn't particularly like Stieg Larsson's (R.I.P.) way of writing, I think it might be because it was written in Swedish and then translated, it just didn't feel authentic to read. But without that somewhat awful book, we wouldn't have this more than somewhat awesome film so I'm thankful. :) I think everyone gave good performances, I just refuse to even attempt to spell their stupid Scandinavian names :/

It's despicable, but none of the "strong sexual violence" is really unnecessary... Watch it if you can, but probably only if you're over 13 :P

Predator (1987)
Nowhere near as good as I expected and when you compare it to Alien and its sequels, you could get away with calling it boring. Because it was, sort of. I fell asleep and missed the last half hour (even a young, shirtless Arnold Schwarzenegger couldn't keep me awake :/) but the 20 minutes before that were really really good! But this film is over 2 hours long, so 20 good minutes is not enough. Unfortunately...

JodieBoner's rating:

Dirty Dancing (1987)
Never watched the whole thing, and me likey! :) Both Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze (RIP) are hot to trot in this film. I love the story and the script, I think it's very realistic. I just really like it! :)

One criticism! The eponymous dancing, although fabulous, is not really that dirty... :D

JodieBoner's rating:

Yes it's very sad, but it's not the saddest thing I've ever seen! I can't remember what the saddest thing I've ever seen is. Oh well, I have the book, let's see how I cope reading it! Cameron Diaz is fucking amazing! So are Abigail Breslin, Joan Cusack, Alec Baldwin, Jason Patric, Evan Ellingson, Thomas Dekker and Sofia Vasilieva. It was also nice to see Emily Deschanel (even if only for all of 4 minutes) outside of Bones. I loved it, even though it broke my heart a little...

JodieBoner's rating:

Little Miss Sunshine (2006)
Loved it! So farcical, yet at the same time it manages to retain reality somewhat. Ok, posh talk over! It's hilarious and strangely realistic... The cast is top-notch, but the best performance come from Alan Arkin, who won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his role, and Abigail Breslin, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the Oscars at the age of 10!

I love it and I definitely recommend it!

3 films, one was a first time viewing.
The Young Victoria (2009)
I bloody love this film!! Emily Blunt is first-class and I love her! This film is just so beautiful, showing us the untold story of Queen Victoria's (the longest reigning monarch in British history) early struggles as Queen and the beginning of her relationship with Prince Albert. Love it! Watch it if ever get chance!

JodieBoner's rating:

This is some freaky shit! And WTF with the mass orgy at the end?!? I mean reall, why? Nothing makes sense any more!! It really had me hooked until the ending, which was shite and ruined everything! I hated it! Oh well, there are lots of good performances to make up for it and I always like a bit of Dustin Hoffman :) (Not in a sexual way... :/)

JodieBoner's rating:

Thumbelina (1994)
Adorable and incredibly underrated! I've loved this film for literally my whole life, it's one of those great cartoons that children and adults alike can watch together and actually enjoy! It's tragic that this one passed under most people's radars...

JodieBoner's rating:

Rock of Ages (2012)
I fucking loved it! LOVED it! Catherine Zeta-Jones is fabulous, Russell Brand and Alec Baldwin are hilarious, Mary J. Blige is feisty, Julianne Hough and Diego Boneta are wonderful together, Malin Akerman is kinky and above all Tom Cruise is sexually arousing... I mean the man's near enough 50, how is that possible?!? Wow. I want him so bad. I literally loved everything about it, need I say more? Buy a ticket and see this film. It's worth every penny/cent/yen/whatever... :)
