3 films, a favourite and two first time viewings.
Holy shit! Oh my God wow! I cannot believe how good this was! Noomi Rapace, where have you been all my life?!? I love you! Seriously though, this film! I tried to read the book once and had to stop because it was incredibly boring and I didn't particularly like Stieg Larsson's (R.I.P.) way of writing, I think it might be because it was written in Swedish and then translated, it just didn't feel authentic to read. But without that somewhat awful book, we wouldn't have this more than somewhat awesome film so I'm thankful. :) I think everyone gave good performances, I just refuse to even attempt to spell their stupid Scandinavian names :/

It's despicable, but none of the "strong sexual violence" is really unnecessary... Watch it if you can, but probably only if you're over 13 :P

Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005)
I am completely in love with Brad Pitt, the half of Brangelina who doesn't have an Oscar, but deserves one. And Angelina Jolie is alright as well. I really liked this film, it's so bitchy and funny and sexy! It's great. Also, it was nice to see Jennifer Morrison outside of Once Upon A Time, even if her role was quite small.

AVP: Alien vs. Predator (2004)
Considering it has "Vs" in the title, no one really won.. And the whole first hour was so BORING!! Also, if you think about it, it was SO silly. Oh well, it's still kick-ass! And the performances are at least like 60%.

July 2nd
3 films, all first time viewings.
Paranormal Activity (2009)
It's not actually scary, it shit me up though. It tries to mind-trick you, it makes you think that something's going to happen. Occasionally, something does but not that dramatic, and it doesn't go on for very long.

Little Manhattan (2006)
Better than I thought it would be! I love Josh Hutcherson and this is no exception to his usual excellence. It's such an adorable little film, and incredibly underrated! Cynthia Nixon is also in it!

A first time viewing and a favourite.
Sex and the City 2 (2010)
Haters gon' hate, tomatoes gon' tomate, potatoes gon' potate. But I loved it, I genuinely think it was hilarious!! It was obviously very cliché and in places the script was utterly dire, but it was SO tongue-in-cheek and outrageous it didn't really matter.. AND SOME OF THE OUTFITS WERE FAB!!!
![](https://list.lisimg.com/image/3923667/500full.jpg)
I love Kim Cattrall anyway, she's from my "neck of the woods" :D

Source Code (2011)
This one was a bit of a mind-fucker, but I managed to smack myself in the head hard enough to kick-start my little brain and I was actually able you understand it! Yayy! Jake Gyllenhaal is definitely one of our time's greatest actors and when you throw in underrated gems the likes of Vera Farmiga and Michelle Monaghan, you have a recipe for success. I love this film, it's wonderful and I strongly recommend it! :)

2 new first time viewings.
Genuinely terrifying villain!! And a headstrong princess and sexy prince too, I really liked it! The characters are so cute, apart from Doctor Facilier I'm really quite fond of them all! :) My favourite has got to be either Louis, the friendly alligator, or Lottie, the resident ditzy rich girl. They're so hilarious! And kudos to Anika Noni-Rose for her amazing vocals.

The Descendants (2011)
I loved it but I don't see what was so fantastic about George Clooney... He was good, but necessarily Golden Globe worthy if you ask me. But oh well, it wasn't my decision. The rest if the cast varied: Shailene Woodley and Judy Greer were absolutely fantastic. So was Amara Miller for a newcomer (and a 10-year-old), but Matthew Lillard was quite average. The script was fantastic, I loved the story and the locations.
![](https://list.lisimg.com/image/3923705/500full.jpg)
It's more of a "dramedy" than a solid drama though

Mirror Mirror (2012)
Okay, in a word: DAFUQ?!? I mean seriously, who thinks up this shit?!? I really liked it though, it was right up my street :D Julia Roberts was utter perfection, so was Nathan Lane. Lily Collins was good, but nothing too special. The script was (not in an insulting or derogatory way) completely retarded. It was good to look at though.. If we were to compare it with Snow White and the Huntsman, I guess it would go like this:
SWATH is better if you want a thrilling, visually stunning, dark adventure. MM would be better suited to families who vary in age and want a laugh and are looking for a new take on one of the most famous stories in the world. Both "Evil Queens" (MM: Julia Roberts, SWATH: Charlize Theron) were equally matched, especially considering both were completely different!
![](https://list.lisimg.com/image/3923745/500full.jpg)
Prince-wise, SWATH didn't as heavily feature their's (Sam Claflin), choosing instead to focus on the eponymous Huntsman (Chris Hemsworth) and to build him into a dimensional character, whereas MM featured him (Armie Hammer) more, though still not massively.
![](https://list.lisimg.com/image/3923746/500full.jpg)
Princess-wise, I'd say MM just tips it with Lily Collins, partially because I'm not Kristen Stewart's biggest fan and because her English accent is not terrific.
![](https://list.lisimg.com/image/3923747/500full.jpg)
Also, MM had much better dwarves than SWATH, writing them as cheeky rebellious outlaws who teach Snow how to thieve, as opposed to SWATH's more warrior-like approach, in SWATH, they provided nearly all the funny bits, but in MM the main comedy role was that of the Queen.
![](https://list.lisimg.com/image/3923748/500full.jpg)
Both had absolutely fantastic costumes, but SWATH beats MM for special effects and locations.
If you're still reading, I recommend both! :P

I expected a twin of the Swedish film, but in English. Instead, I got something similar (obviously), but in many ways different, only not as good as the original.. The only thing worse was a) her probation officer ripped off her knickers instead of just pulling them down to rape her, b) the dildo with which she gets her revenge looks like it would cause more pain than in the Swedish one. I liked it, I think it was a good idea to make it in English (with a sexier Mikael Blomkvist). But I don't think Rooney Mara's performance was that special, not really worthy of an Oscar nomination in my humble opinion..

Changeling (2008)
Wow. I did not expect to like this as much as I did (story of my life), especially not with the subject matter. But I loved it. Angelina Jolie was absolutely amazing! Truly worthy of the Oscar nomination that got sent her way, as far as I'm concerned, it was a three horse race. We can forget about Melissa Leo in Frozen River, she was nothing special. And we can (unfortunately) disregard Anne Hathaway in Rachel Getting Married. This leaves with Ms Jolie in this, Meryl Streep in Doubt, and Kate Winslet in The Reader (who won). To be honest, I think it could have gone any way out of those three.

The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)
I can't decide whether or not this was as good as I expected.. It was definitely better than the original trilogy, and Andrew Garfield is much more youthful-looking and sexier than Tobey Maguire. And un poco Emma Stone es siempre fantástico, oops I went Spanish there.. I did really like it though, it was so not just a "superhero movie" if you know what I mean? I recommend it!

Beginners (2010)
Lovely! It's so cute! Christopher Plummer is adorable, I wish he was a little boy so I could adopt him.. Almost. He's wonderful! Everything else, however, not so much.. I don't particularly like either Ewan McGregor or Mélanie Laurent in it, they were kind of just.. there. It was like they'd "photobombed" the film..

2 films today, Happy Birthday to me! (I re-watched 'The Amazing Spider-Man')
Fucking brilliant!! I love it so much! It's got to be the funniest Disney film, and Yzma's probably my favourite villain! It's such a farse, it's AMAZING. And it's not just kids that find it funny, it's like traditional slapstick that the adults (particularly grandparents) will love too!

Bad Teacher (2011)
Cameron Diaz you fucking beauty! This cast is amazing. Justin Timberlake, Lucy Punch, Jason Segel, Phyllis Smith, Thomas Lennon and Eric Stonstreet. The story is so crude! It's very tongue-in-cheek and it's exactly like something that I could've thought up! Fresh from the mind of me, I bring you 'Bad Teacher' and I hope you fucking love it just as much as I do!! :D

It's not one of the best films I've ever seen, but it's definitely got some of the best acting I've ever seen. Especially from, of course, Mo'Nique, who swept awards' season 2010 for her role as Precious' mother Mary Johnston. Gabourey Sidibe, Paula Patton and even Mariah Carey were also wonderful.

Brokeback Mountain (2005)
Wow. It's so sad! I of course loved the sexy bits, particularly the gay ones between the beautiful Jake Gyllenhaal and the late Heath Ledger (RIP you gorgeous, amazing thing!) Michelle Williams was amazing!! I also loved my Anne Hathaway! It's moving, sexy and incredibly real. It's not perfect, but I can't recommend it enough. Joyful Noise (2012)
I liked it! I think Keke Palmer was fantastic. I loved the bitchiness between Dolly Parton and Queen Latifah too! I think the musical numbers were genuinely entertaining, but in essence the rest of the film was lacking a few things. I hated Jeremy Jordan's smug little grin. Enjoyable, but needed more...

It was ok, I think Elizabeth Banks was fucking kick-ass! I liked Sam Worthington and Jamie Bell was good. I didn't see the point in Ed Harris at all though.. Also, I kind of lost interest towards the end. If I were to sum it up, I'd say it was a decent thriller with a complex storyline and good performances. Entertaining, but ultimately forgetable..

The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999)
It's a bit messed up. But I love a bit homoerotica and who better to channel that than Matt Damon, one of my imaginary gay husbands. To see him checking out Jude Law made so happy, but to see them fight and to eventually Matt kill Jude with a rowing oar before they got chance to fuck really upset me! I think the best performances were, of course, Matt Damon's and that of "Mrs Martin" Gwyneth Paltrow. Awesome people. Really fucking weird film though..

Good Will Hunting (1997)
I love me some Matt Damon, and his Oscar-nominated role in this film is no exception to his usual quality acting. Robin Williams is fucking amazing. Like AMAZING!! Oscar-winning amazing in fact. He was so wasted on all these comedic roles. When you can act like that, you fucking should. Also, Minnie Driver, wow! And I loved the Affleck brothers (Ben and the younger, less attractive Casey) too. I even liked Stellan Skarskard, whose role is the least interesting. And the Oscar-winning screenplay, written by Ben and Matt, is brilliant!

The Dark Knight (2008)
I was expecting this to be incredibly overrated, but in fact it was actually gripping from start to finish! The cast is amazing and Heath Ledger is absolutely earth-stopping in his performance as The Joker, one of the most tragic deaths of recent years. I still can't believe it after 4 years.. (RIP x) I hated Christian Bale's Batman voice, but as Bruce Wayne he was actually quite good. I also LOVED Maggie Gyllenhaal and Michael Caine. I really liked Aaron Eckhart and Morgan Freeman too! :)

The History Boys (2006)
The idea of Dominic Cooper offering another man the opportunity to "suck him off" turned me on, and the film is very funny, with great performances from Frances de la Tour and Richard Griffiths. I've seen the play, when a group of my friends did it, (they were amazing) so I also think the script is fab. It just didn't entertain me as much as I thought it would..

What a fantastically genuine comedy film. It's wonderful. The idea itself on paper my seem a little odd, "this man fires people for a living," but in actuality it really plays out well. The fantastic witty script and the quick, realistic performance really help the film along. I loved both Anna Kendrick and Vera Farmiga in their Oscar-nominated roles, and of course George Clooney is always a strong leading actor, also receiving an Oscar nomination. Just one film, a first time viewing.
Not quite as sad as everybody said it is, but I still cried. Alzheimer's isn't comfortable subject matter for me, it's in may family.. Anyway, it's a beautiful story and I think it really resonates with everyone. The performances are wonderful, especially the radiant (clearly, I never use that word) Rachel McAdams! I loved Ryan Gosling too, as well as James Garner and Gena Rowlands.

2 films. A favourite and a first time viewing.
I adore this film, even the unnecessarily over-sexual parts. Visually, it's stunning. It has a great story, script, direction from Darren Aronofsky, and acting that knocks my socks off (especially from Barbara Hershey and Natalie Portman, whose role as troubled ballerina Nina won her an Oscar, a BAFTA, a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild award).

Date Night (2019)
I love Tina Fey, and Steve Carrell always makes me chortle. But this film was underwhelming! It really hurt my feelings. I enjoyed it, and it's quite an impressive assembly of actors but I thought I would've liked it more. The script was quite good, some of it was hilarious, but then there was all the nonsense. Watch it if you want, it's entertaining.

The Dark Knight Rises (2012)
Wow. Fucking wow. WOW!! AMAZIIIIING! Christopher Nolan, I want to sit you on a golden throne and crown you with regal blossoms! The cast is out of this world, the script is wonderful, the SFX and scenery are exquisite. I just love it. LOVE IT!! I have a criticism: why didn't Anne Hathaway get to bitch-fight with Marion Cotillard? :'( Other than that, and of course Christian Bale's disgusting Batman voice ("WHERE'S THE TRIGGEERRRRRRRR?!?" :D), I loved it. Tom Hardy is amazing. His Bane voice alone probably has the power to impregnate bitches. Love it! And Joseph Gordon-Levitt, you little cutie!

Just the one film today.
The Reader (2008)
Love this film! The fact that I've seen it before meant that the technically paedophilic sex scenes were less of a shock... And was able to appreciate the beauty and tragedy of the story.
Kate Winslet is amazing, as usual, and truly deserved that Oscar for her frankly heartbreaking performance as Hanna Schmitz, a former concentration camp guard. It looks like 2008 (with both this and Revolutionary Road) was a pretty good year for our Kate! Never been prouder to be British!

Ralph Fiennes and David Kross also give great performances as the same person, Michael Berg, at diferent points in time. Also, another great supporting role from Lena Olin, who moves me to tears. Brilliant script, story (adapted from a German novel) and direction from Stephen Daldry.
It's fabulous and I definitely recommend it!

1 films, (I re-watched The Dark Knight Rises) one first time viewing.
Alien 3 (1992)
Not a patch on its predecessors, it has a fairly decent storyline, and it was an honourable end to one of film's greatest characters. I don't think this film was entirely necessary though. It had good performances from Sigourney Weaver and Charles S. Dutton though..
