Review of The Lost World: Jurassic Park

The Lost World, the first sequel to 1993's Jurassic Park is an exhausting, thinly scripted film, that depends entirely on it's action sequences and special effects. Now that I've got the critique out of the way, let me just say that I had a blast watching The Lost World, the rare sequel that improves on the original. The Lost World may be missing some of the majesty and inventiveness of it's prede... read more

I read the book first, and got excited about the movie coming out. Like most other adaptations, they can't put every single detail into the movie, and the one thing that I really wanted to see was one of those things.

There was a dino that had chameleon genes, so it was able to change color to match the environment (in case you weren't aware). How great would that've been on the big... read more

"Oh, yeah. Oooh, ahhh, that's how it always starts. Then later there's running and screaming." To this day, 1993's Jurassic Park stands as one of the all-time greatest blockbusters in history, and its impact on popular culture cannot be overstated. With its Tyrannosaurus-sized box office returns and bevy of critical acclaim, a sequel was inevitable, yet a follow-up was always going to be risky due... read more

The film picks up four years after the disaster at Jurassic Park. On a nearby island, dinosaurs have secretly survived and been allowed to roam free but now there is a more ominous threat--a plan to capture and bring the dinosaurs to the mainland. John Hammond, who has lost control of his InGen company, sees a chance to redeem himself for his past mistakes and sends an expedition led by Ian Malcolm to reach the island before the mercenary team gets there. The two groups confront each other in the face of extreme danger and must team up for their own survival in a race against time.

Pop Culture Phenomenon Films: 90’s (1428 movies items)

" Of course, there was going to be a sequel to Jurassic Park, because of it’s box office success. And The Lost World: Jurassic Park, was a big success. But over the years, consensus changed drastically. Fans liked the fact it was darker and more brutal, making it the Temple of Doom, of the series, but they also felt it lacked the wonder, and ah of the first film. And that was once the film was released, it was all downhill from there."

"1.2. Blu-ray Uusintakatselu. Pidetään tätäkin projektia hengissä. Tarkoitus siis katsoa sopivan ikäisten tytärten kanssa kaikki nämä sekä tuleva kuudes osa. Tyhmää ja epäloogista. Välillä herttaisesti ja välillä rasittavasti. Etenee kuitenkin vallan sujuvasti, tämän kautta viihdyttää riittävästi ties kuinka monen kymmenen kerran jälkeenkin. Lapsuuteni helposti kulutetuin elokuva. Nostalgia ei hevillä hälvene."

Movies the giraffe watched in 2021: November (50 movies items)

"Re-watch - Nov. 28th It's safe to say I hadn't seen this since it was in theatres, and honestly I could have left it there. But the kiddo wanted to see it, so here we are. I'll grant that there are some really good moments sprinkled throughout the film...everything with the raptors, the compy attack, and the T-Rex in the city. And the cast is fine. A lot of the script is technobabble though, to the point even my daughter was like "yeah, those are words" at times. The story takes its time to get"

Movies I Watched in July 2021 Movies (13 movies items)

" Date: 7/6/2021 Viewed: 4K UHD (Amazon Prime Rental) Re-watch Note: Seeing that I rewatch the first Jurassic Park movie, I decided to rewatch the sequel. This is the Jurassic Park movie that I have been looking forward to revisiting the most. I have a lot of fun nostalgic memories of me watching this movie in theaters when it came out. I was so hyped up for a sequel that I would count down the days for it coming out in my school notebook back in 1997. It was also the last movie that my dad an"

Run For Your Lives! My 45 Fave Giant Monster Films (45 movies items)

"In the first Jurassic Park, modern science demonstrated it highest possibilities to date by genetically re-introducing the dinosaurs of the Jurassic era to our time. Then, it went about creating an island theme park in which to inhabit these prehistoric ganstas of giant monsters, in the speculative hope that the general public would eat them up. As it turned out, it had the opposite effect. It was the park that began eating up the public. So, in this 2nd installment of the series, we find out th"
