"FORMAT: 35mm CONDITION: ★★★★½ NOTES: I’ve wanted to see this at the cinema for almost a whole decade. Last screened at the Barbican on what could have been Tezuka’s birthday in 2008, and screened again as part of Barbican’s Anime’s Human Machines season with the Life Rewired short Divided We Scroll and an intro review. The changeovers are inconvenient and only the scene where Pero confronts Atlas is anywhere close to ruined, but the rest of the print is as great as it could be. "

"SCREENING: 35mm, Anime’s Human Machines DATE: September 29th CINEMA: Barbican Centre LOCATION: Barbican SHORTS: Divided We Scroll (★★★★)"

"Let's see: -Based on an old manga from Ozamu Tesuka. -Inspired by the classic movie with the same name. -Directed by Rintaro, the closest friend Tezuka had in the medium as an homage to him. Yeah I say it looks interesting so far, wait what's that? -Written by Katsuhiro Ohtomo Oh crap. You know the deal, lots of interesting elements and not enough time to develop them properly, also it was nowhere near the level of Akira in terms of aesthetics, setting, characters, atmosphere, engaging and me"

"12.11. PC Who would've thought one can emulate Osamu Tezuka's style this well after his passing away decade after."
