Lewis Milestone's anti war masterpiece marks the first time the Academy gets it right, but not a trend that gets repeated often.

The Academy Award for Best Picture is widely regarded as the highest honor which can be bestowed on a film, but is increasingly attacked for rewarding inferior films which do not stand the test of time or are by defeated worthier efforts.
Using IMDB ratings, let's see which films truly deserved to win Best Picture (however, only with films which where eligible to be nominated).
Note: These are not my personal opinions, but rather those of films fans in general.
