one of the best

It became the benchmark for popular epic cinema for decades. The film is monumental enough to be beyond criticism.

It tidies up a lot of complex history… Dressed up with 1939 Technicolor, pastel-pretty for the dresses and blazing red for the passions, and a thunderous Max Steiner score, this still has a fair claim to be considered one of the best pictures of Hollywood filmmaking.<... read more

The most incredible movie ever!!! Vivien Leigh is one of my top favorite actresses, as well as Clark Gable was one my favorite actors. There is no way to really describe how fantastic this movie is. It has to be watched to be appreciated!!!

A classic

Since it is a huge classic and since it is still the highest grossing movie ever made (adjusted for inflation), I was really eager to check this flick. Eventually, I thought it was indeed pretty good and I could see why it was so loved and was such a success. However, to be honest, I can't say I was really blown away by the whole thing though. Indeed, even though such old gems like 'Nosferatu', 'C... read more

Scarlett is a woman who can deal with a nation at war, Atlanta burning, the Union Army carrying off everything from her beloved Tara, the carpetbaggers who arrive after the war. Scarlett is beautiful. She has vitality. But Ashley, the man she has wanted for so long, is going to marry his placid cousin, Melanie. Mammy warns Scarlett to behave herself at the party at Twelve Oaks. There is a new man there that day, the day the Civil War begins. Rhett Butler. Scarlett does not know he is in the room when she pleads with Ashley to choose her instead of Melanie.

"“I don’t think it would be the classic today without Vivien Leigh in it. She’s the lynchpin that makes it all work and stay modern. Another reason it’s so enduring is that every emotion people can feel are covered in Gone with the Wind.” -Robert Osborne “The heart of it is the family, the loves of these people, the love of the land…. There’s a moment in the beginning when Scarlett her father looking at Tara, with this gnarled tree and this vivid sunset, and it somehow cements "

Movies...Most Memorable Movie quotes (43 movies items)

"'Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn.'Clark Gable delivered this line in the 1939 classic "Gone With the Wind" in response to Scarlett's question, "Where shall I go? What shall I do?" You can and probably should use it whenever you're not concerned with the fate of someone who believes that you should be."

" Notes: Eventually, I thought it was indeed pretty good and I could see why it was so loved and was such a success. However, I can say I was really blown away by the whole thing. Indeed, even though such old gems like 'Nosferatu', 'Citizen Kane' or anything made by the great Chaplin still retain their power even 70 years later, some other movies didn't grow old very well and this flick is a good example, at least, that's my opinion. Indeed, the directing was solid, the costums and sets were gor"
