Note: Almost 100 years later and this movie is still a masterpiece. I love how dark, creepy, and surreal this movie is. The dark surreal imagery and the music makes this movie feel so scary and atmospheric. I still get the chills when I watch this movie on my own late at night. Not to mention, the acting from Max Schreck is fantastic. Everyone else has talked about this movie to death, so I can't add anything new to say. If you haven't seen this movie, do it now.

Note: This movie is still a masterpiece in my opinion. This movie can be scary, disturbing, violent, and gross without being a total gore fest. The cinematography is fantastic because the movie looks and feels so dirty and gritty. This whole movie almost feels like a documentary which is why I love this movie so much. Overall, The original Texas Chain Saw Massacre movie is quietly terrifying and deeply unsettling after 45 years. I highly recommend this movie if you haven't seen it yet.

First Viewing

Note: I finally saw this movie for the first time and I loved it. The movie is a total blast to watch from start to finish. The gore and the death scenes are awesome and gross. This movie really had me on the edge of my seat on how creepy, disturbing, and over the top it was. I also like the social commentary that the movie was going for as well. Not to mention, the pacing was perfect. It was not too long or didn't go by too quickly. The only thing I didn't like about the movie was there was too many flash backs.

Overall, this movie is awesome and I recommend it for anyone who likes slasher movies.

Rewatch

Note: I haven't seen this movie since it came out and I still really enjoy it. It's a slow burn that does not overstay its welcome. It has a superb story with amazing atmosphere. One of my favorite things about the movie is the themes of distrust and paranoia. The movie did a pretty good job on exploring those themes and it would be cool if we got more of it. Overall, The Witch is a very good movie and it is worth checking out if you haven't seen it yet.

Note: I haven't seen this movie since I was 10 years old and I still think the movie is great. I love the story and the atmosphere that this movie has. Tony Todd does an amazing job on being a creepy and disturbing killer in my opinion. Every time when Candyman is on screen, I still get the chills. Not to mention, everyone else in this movie does a great job on acting as well. I highly recommend this movie!

Note: This movie is still a fun giant monster movie. It's not great, but it is cool to see a giant flying snake bird monster flying across New York City. The cinematography and camera work in this movie is excellent too. I love how this movie makes you feel like that you are flying in the sky as the giant monster. Not to mention, the special effects in this movie is really cool as well. This movie is a nice throw back to the 1950s giant monster movies in my opinion.

Overall, Q is a fun movie to watch. If you like 80s horror movies or giant monster movies, give it a watch.

Note: I wanted to check out this movie after hearing good things about it and it did not disappoint me at all. I really like the characters in this movie and the harsh environment that they had to go through. The acting was fantastic and I love the visuals that this movie has. This is a type of movie that you should watch without reading spoilers because you will enjoy it more without knowing anything about the movie. I highly recommend this movie.

Re-watch

Note: This movie never gets old when I always revisit it. I like that the movie is a slow burn and does a great job on building up the suspense. I love the layers of subtext and a study on dangerous love that this movie has. All the characters in this movie are likable and memorable in my opinion. Not to mention, some scenes in this movie are still nasty as hell even after 20 years later. This movie is not for everyone, but I do recommend it for anyone that likes Japanese cinema or violent horror movies.

Note: This movie is still a fantastic horror movie for being so dark, gritty, and raw. This movie still gives me the chills because they handle everything so realistically for the most part. Henry is a type of person that could easily exist in real life. The movie also does a great job on the other cast of characters because they feel so believable and you don't want to see them be killed. It is amazing how this movie is still stunning, terrifying and deeply unsettling after nearly 35 years later.

This is not a film for the faint-off-heart and I only recommend it to anyone who enjoys violent horror movies or character study movies.

Netflix

Note: I wanted to check out this movie for the last few years because I do remember seeing the trailers for this movie when it was coming out in 2014. 5 years later and I finally saw it on Netflix. I don't think this movie is as bad as the critics make it out to be, but it is still not a great movie. I thought the movie itself was very cool and I dig the idea of being trap deep underground to be scary. Who knows what really exist deep underground of the Catacombs of Paris. I even admit that even some scenes even creep me out a bit.

The biggest issue of this movie to me was the characters and writing. The characters are pretty flat and the story was a bit predictable. I also think the ending could have been so much better as well. Overall, I had fun watching this movie. It's not a movie that I will own or watch again, but I think fans of found footage movies will enjoy it.

Note: Wow, this movie was amazing! I loved every bit of this movie from start to finish because the visuals and story was awesome. The bright trippy colors and the 16mm film grain makes this movie feel like a classic grindhouse movie from the 70s-80s. I also love the goth/metal/punk soundtrack and the gore effects in this movie. The story is pretty simple, but I felt like they did a good job on creating the characters in this movie. They are all relatable and you care about them as well.

Overall, this movie is fantastic and is worth checking out for anyone enjoys Grindhouse type of movies.

The Dead Zone (1983)

Re-watch

Note: Dead Zone still holds up and is very relevant in today's world. The story is fantastic because I love how this movie shows the dangers of politicians and that they could destroy the world if we vote for the wrong people. This movie is a non-stop thrill ride from start to finish. Christopher Walken and the other actors in this movie do a fantastic job as well. Another cool thing about this movie is how the story is told. It feels like they created a series of stepping-stones leading up to an epic ending. Overall, The Dead Zone is still fantastic and I highly recommend this movie if you never seen it before.

Bad Taste (1987)

Date: 10/13/2019
Viewed: Amazon Prime
Re-watch

Note: Bad Taste still kicks ass and it is my second favorite Peter Jackson movie next to Braindead (1992). The action, gore, and humor is over the top and awesome. This movie is so much fun to watch because the movie knows how to be funny and violent at the same time. I also love how this movie has that home video quality to it giving it that special charm. Not to mention, the movie has a fun cast of characters that are memorable in my opinion.

Revisiting this movie makes me wish Peter Jackson will go back to his roots again (Even though it is never going to happen). Overall, Bad Taste is a non-stop thrill ride and it is worth checking out for anyone who loves trashy movies.

Note: I remember hearing about this movie when it was coming out in 2011 and I never saw it until now. This movie did not disappoint me because it was awesome. This movie was absolutely insane from start to finish because there is so much violence and gore in it. The movie is so over the top, gory, cheesy and edgy that I love every minute of it. Adam Chaplin is not meant to be high art and you can tell that the film makers of this movie had a blast making it.

The story is simple and does not always make sense, but it is so much fun seeing everyone getting murder in the most over the top ways. This movie was like if Fist of the North Star and The Crow had a baby. The only thing that I did not like about the movie is some CG looks really bad. Not to mention, I feel like some blood in this movie looks like kool aid at times.

Overall, I love this movie to death. If you love over the top violent movies like Peter Jackson's Brain Dead or Riki Oh, this movie is for you. Rating: 8.5/10

Child's Play (1988)

Date: 10/15/2019
Viewed: Blu-Ray
Re-watch

Note: The original Child's Play is still a solid movie in my opinion. Brad Dourif is still fantastic as Chucky and does a great job on playing a scary role. The other actors also did a good job on playing their roles as well. I also really like the cinematography, music and atmosphere because it really captures the urban landscape of this movie.

I also feel like this movie made the idea of a killer doll to be more mainstream in the horror genre after 1988. Sure you had movies like Dolls and Trilogy of Terror before Child's Play, but I think Chucky really made the Killer Doll trope more mainstream after the 80s. People also forget that this movie almost pokes fun at 80s corporate consumer culture. That's one social commentary in this movie that everyone seems to forget about.

The movie does have some plot holes that are a bit annoying, but that's about it. Overall, Child's Play is still a pretty great movie and it is still worth checking out.

Re-watch

Note: I still consider this movie to be the best Silent horror movie from North America during the 1920s in my opinion. I love the atmosphere and the music that this movie has because the movie feels very creepy and even a bit surreal at times. The color scenes are awesome because they are revolutionary for their time, and they have that authentic feeling to them like most color in silent movies do. Not to mention, the set designs for this movie are amazing and it's amazing how much work was put into this movie. This movie is nearly 95 years old and the set designs still look great.

Lon Chaney's role as The Phantom is iconic and fantastic because of his body language. Lon Chaney does a great job on playing a character that is both creepy and tragic at the same time. You feel bad about him at times because The Phantom does not know what to do with himself. The only thing that I didn't like about this movie because it feels a bit slow at times.

Overall, The Phantom of the Opera is a great movie and it is worth checking out if you never seen it before.

Re-Watch

Note: American Psycho looks amazing in 4K UHD as if I was watching it for the first time. Everything about this movie is fantastic from start to finish. The acting is fantastic and all the characters are great. Christian Bale plays an iconic villain role that is memorable, sick and even funny at times. Not to mention, I love how the movie is a satire of 80s American class politics.

I also love how the story is up for interpretation on what really happened or not. The soundtrack for this movie is also great as well. Overall, American Psycho is still fantastic and this movie never gets old when I rewatch it. If you never seen this movie before, do it now.

Creepshow (1982)

Date: 10/18/2019
Viewed: Blu-Ray (Scream Factory special edition)
Re-Watch

Note: This movie is still one of the best horror anthology movies in my opinion. Unlike most comic book movies, this movie feels like an actual comic book coming to life. The special effects and the colorful lighting are fantastic to look at. The movie is very eye candy and that's not a bad thing because this movie is trying to be like a comic book, and they did a great job on it. All the stories in this movie are excellent and well-directed because there's not a single boring moment in this movie.

I also love the animation bits of this movie and it almost made me wish that this was an adult animated movie instead. However, I still love how this movie turn out in the end. Overall, Creepshow is a great movie and I highly recommend it if you never seen it before.

Antichrist (2009)

Date: 10/19/2019
Viewed: Blu-Ray
Re-Watch

Note: It's been 10 years since this movie came out and I still really like it. This movie is dark, twisted and wonderful at the same time. The atmosphere and cinematography are fantastic because everything in this movie is breathtaking. The movie makes you feel like that you are in the middle of the woods with these two characters. I haven't seen a movie that makes the wilderness feel scary since the original Evil Dead in my opinion. The lack of music makes this movie feel even more realistic and scary as well.

Willem Dafoe and Charlotte Gainsbourg both do a great job in this movie playing two tragic and believable characters that are going through major anxiety. This movie is packed of symbolism of birth, death, parenthood, and religion that you will make you think after the movie is over. The movie has some gross scenes, but the movie is not a gore fest like some people make it out to be.

Overall, Antichrist is a great movie and it is worth checking out if you like art house movies.

Re-Watch

Note: I haven't seen this movie since the early 2000s on VHS and I still like it. Not the best movie from Lucio Fulci, but it's still a lot of fun. This was one of Lucio Fulci's later movies before he died in the mid 90s and I consider this movie to be a tribute to all the awesome movies that he did back in the day. This movie is almost like a good-bye letter in a way. I can understand why people don't like this movie because it's not for everyone. You need some macabre sense of humor to get it or have seen several of Lucio Fulci's movies to understand the themes of the story.

Overall, A Cat in the Brain is a lot of fun and I do recommend it if you are a fan of Lucio Fulci movies or if you like meta movies.

Note: I remember hearing about this movie when it came out last year, but I never saw it until now. I thought it was surprisingly good and I had a lot of fun watching it. The movie is not very original, but the movie has some really good death scenes in the movie. It was fun to see the over the top violence in this movie because the movie has some pretty good special effects. I also like the main cast of characters and I wanted to see them escape out alive.

Overall, Monster Party is a fun horror movie and it is worth checking out if you want to turn off your brain for 90 minutes.

Note: I was quite eager to check out this movie after hearing great things about it. This movie was very funny, creative, and original for a zombie movie. The movie also has a great cast of characters that are pretty memorable. This is a movie that I highly recommend watching without reading anything or watching the trailers because you will enjoy it more if you don't. I knew nothing about this movie and it took me by surprise. So overall, I really enjoy One Cut of the Dead and I want to buy it on Blu-Ray soon. Check this movie out while you can.

Note: Jaws is still the best movie from Steven Spielberg in my opinion. The movie is still suspenseful thanks to the iconic music from John Williams and the fantastic direction. Jaws is a fine work of art and go see it if you never seen it before.

The Church (1989)

Re-Watch

Note: I haven't seen this movie in the last 15 years and I still like it a lot. The movie is very atmospheric and the special effects are awesome. I love how this movie looks because they did a great job on making awesome sets designs. The cinematography in this movie is also wonderful to look at as well. Not to mention, I love the music from Keith Emerson & Goblin because the music sounds both haunting and awesome.

The movie has a really cool story with interesting characters. I do admit the last act of the movie feels a bit rush, but everything else about this movie is awesome. Overall, The Church is an underrated movie that is worth checking out in my opinion.

Note: This movie is always one of my favorite Italian horror movies to rewatch because it is so awesome. The movie has cool characters, kick-ass music, badass action sequences, and awesome gore. Not to mention, you also have amazing 80s rock and metal music from Mรถtley Crรผe and Billy Idol as well. The story is pretty nonsensical, but that does not matter with a movie like this. This movie is meant to be silly and over the top from start to finish.

Overall, this movie is a nonstop thrill ride that is worth checking out.

Re-Watch

Note: Wicked City is still one of my favorite anime movies in my opinion. It mixes body horror, romance, and sci-fi into one awesome movie. The characters are awesome and memorable in my opinion. I also love the story and the idea of two worlds trying to bring peace with each other. Also, the animation and atmosphere is fantastic as well. This is an animated movie that both David Cronenberg and John Carpenter would enjoy.

I don't think this movie is perfect by all means because the movie has some stuff in it that does not make sense. I won't let that ruin my enjoyment when I watch this movie. I also don't consider this movie to be porn because the sex does not overshadow the plot. It's like saying Basic Instinct is porn because there's sex in it if you ask me.

Overall, Wicked City is a fun horror anime for both fans and non fans alike.

Re-Watch

Note: I decided to revisit this remake because I haven't seen it in a long time (It was also on sale at Best Buy for $15). The original Night of the Living Dead is a way better movie, but this remake is still pretty solid. Tom Savini did a great job on updating the original movie into the modern world. The special effects and atmosphere are top-notch in my opinion.

Both Tony Todd and Patricia Tallman did a great job on their roles in the movie. I also like how they made Barbara into a stronger female role for once. Everyone else in the movie did a pretty good job as well. I'm not a fan of some changes that they done to the story, but I don't consider that to be a bad thing. The movie would be boring if it was the same movie as the original, but with color and better special effects.

Overall, the 90s remake of Night of the Living Dead is very good and it is worth checking out.

Note: I haven't seen this movie since it came out back in the early 2000s and I still enjoy it. It's the weakest movie in the Re-Animator trilogy, but still a solid movie in my opinion. The special effects are not as good as the first two movies because this movie was made for TV, but they still look pretty good for the most part. Jeffrey Combs as Dr. Herbert West is still awesome as always and the other cast of characters are still pretty enjoyable as well.

The story is pretty interesting seeing what happens to Herbert West after 1989. The movie did rehash some elements from the other two movies, but the story is still enjoyable nevertheless. The humor is pretty funny at times, but some of it did fall flat. Overall, Beyond Re-Animator is a fun sequel and I still wish they did more Re-Animator movies with Jeffrey Combs. If you enjoy the first two movies, you will like this movie as well.
