"I mean sir, who would pay a million dollars to have me killed?"
"Jealous husbands! Outraged chefs! Humiliated tailors! The list is endless!"

This was much better than the previous Bond film starring Roger Moore. This one was much more entertaining, had an awesome villain and even Roger Moore is more convincing as Bond than he was in the last film. It is also the funniest Bond movie I've seen this far as it did make me laugh quite a few times especially with Clifton James' character. I think the weakest point of this one is that Roger Moore still isn't that great as James Bond. I mean he isn't terrible, but he just doesn't have the same charm that the other Bond actors have. Other than that it's a very solid entry to the series.

"Charlie! They took my thumb!"

I don't think I've seen a movie where my opinion kept rapidly changing back and forth so many times. At first I thought the movie was OK, then as it developed a bit more it became good, but at the end it was just leaving me feel empty. Hell, I had to re-watch certain parts of the movie just to make up my mind with what I thought of this movie. I eventually came to the conclusion that it's not a good movie. The dialogue was very awkward at times the acting was just average and for a movie that's part comedy, it was not really funny. I also thought the plot of this movie went nowhere and I just got nothing in terms of story or character development. Now this movie does have a bit of a cult following, so they probably saw something in this movie that I didn't. It's definitely not the hidden gem I thought it was going to be.

"Mom. Mom, you were always the perfect mother. You gave me everything that I ever wanted. And I love you. I love you so much. And I'm really sorry. Please don't ever forget me."

I really liked this movie. Well at first I did, but I want to talk about this movie the way I watched it from start to finish. So this was a really good movie. It had a really well-executed plot and it had some really good acting from Abigail Breslin and Halle Berry who I'm usually not a fan of. I also really love how it showed what it was like to be a 911 operator as it sounds like a frightening job to have. If there was one thing I had to rag on it would be that Abigail Breslin's character said her favorite movie was Bridesmaids which is weird. Not because I hate that movie with a burning passion, but because while there are people that really liked that movie, I can't imagine anyone saying that it's their favorite movie. I really liked this movie and wait... what the hell just happened?!? What the fuck? OK, this is where the movie escalated. The first two acts of this movie were very solid, but the third act is where it falls apart. While it starts to lose a little steam by that point as it seems like everything in this movie has already been done, but this movie really takes a shark jump at the end as it starts to get ridiculous near the end. We get this really out of place scene where the kidnapper tries to scalp the girl he's kidnapping, but only manages to cut through her a little bit before Halle Berry smashes him in the head. When he recovers he drowns her in water, but she manages to break free. I'm going to skip some details by saying that it completely ends when she abandons him after he's tied up to a chair and locks the door. OK I do have a problem with that as the tone in that scene makes it feel like a fucking Hostel movie, but the worst thing about it is that's where the movie ends. We don't get to see the aftermath of the girl, we don't get to see if it affects her or not, we don't even get to see if the 911 operator does anything for her. It just ends right there. Also Halle Berry's characterization just feels very sadistic near the end. I get that the guy was a scumbag, but the torturing shit was just out of place. Now this isn't like the film Chloe where the ending completely ruins the movie for me, but the third act was so ridiculous that it nearly murdered the film and made me bump down half a star from it. So while it is a decent movie just because the first two acts were very strong, it really deserved a better ending and because of the third act it just doesn't have any re-watch value for me.

"The war between the sexes is over. We won the second women started doing pole dancing for exercise."

This was even better than I was expecting it to be. This is probably one of the best romantic comedies to come out in this decade. It had so many hilarious lines and unlike most films of this genre, it was actually romantic. Steve Carrell is also great in this movie and he's just a great actor in general whether it's a comedic or serious role. It's a great movie and it deserves the praise it gets.

"Look in your heart! Look in your heart!"
"What heart?"

This was a great movie and it's the first true masterpiece from The Coen Brothers. I'm personally fascinated by the whole Prohibition-era as it's really interesting to know that alcohol was banned at one point. This movie had a great story, fantastic dialogue and some really amazing acting. I loved everything about this movie and it's one of the best Coen Brother's best films.

"It takes more than going down to your local video store and renting Easy Rider to become a rebel."

"Ever feel like reality is more twisted than dreams?"

This movie sucked. The characters were unlikable, it tries too hard to be edgy and most of the jokes in this movie fall flat on it's face. There are a few things to like about this film, but other than that it's a terrible movie and not even Rose McGowan as a Mia Wallace wanna-be can save it.

June 7

"People ask the question... what's a RocknRolla? And I tell 'em - it's not about drums, drugs, and hospital drips, oh no. There's more there than that, my friend. We all like a bit of the good life - some the money, some the drugs, others the sex game, the glamour, or the fame. But a RocknRolla, oh, he's different. Why? Because a real RocknRolla wants the fucking lot."

This is nowhere near as great as Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels or Snatch, but it's still pretty good. Just like the other two films it had Guy Ritchie's trademark witty dialogue, some good characters and it was just a highly entertaining watch. It's not something I would watch many times like I would with something like Ritchie's two other films, but I would probably watch it again at least once.

"My name is Pussy Galore."
"I must be dreaming."

After seeing this I can say that this is the best James Bond film I've seen to date. In this one Sean Connery shows why he's still my favorite Bond actor with his funny one-liners, his undeniable charm and he just has this personality that none of the Bond actors have been able to top. It also had a great villain, some really cool action scenes and it's just a classic overall. I highly recommend seeing this if you haven't already.

"Oh, yeah. Oooh, ahhh, that's how it always starts. Then later there's running and um, screaming."

This is not even close to being as good as the first one, but it's still entertaining. It does have it's share of flaws as I feel like they don't develop the new characters in this movie at first, it has a little too much action, Ian Malcolm's daughter was annoying and I really could've done without Vince Vaughn in this movie, but despite all it's flaws it's still a fun movie. The action scenes are still pretty impressive, some of the characters are likeable and I did like Julianne Moore's role and just like the first movie the dinosaur effects still look good to this day. While it's not a great sequel it's still decent and I'd probably watch it again.

"This is how you make dinosaurs?"
"No, this is how you play God."

Oh man, this sequel was complete and utter shit. While I think the hate for The Lost World is a bit overblown, this sequel deserves every bit of ridicule it gets. At least that movie was competent. First of all the characters are unlikable. While the previous film has a couple characters from the first one, this one only has Sam Neill's character and he isn't very likeable in this entry. The characters in this movie weren't developed at all and pretty much every character in this movie were idiots. Especially Tea Leoni's character. Oh my god, I loathed her character every time she was on screen. She never shuts the fuck up and just like all the other characters, she makes stupid decisions. Another problem is the CGI in this film. Unlike the first two movies, the dinosaur effects in this movie do not hold up at all as the CGI is just too obvious. Then there's the runtime which is what I think kills the movie. Now you might think that this film being only 90 minutes would be a good thing since it would be less painful to sit through, but actually the short runtime works against this movie. This movie needed more room to develop the characters and their motivations as the backstory they give isn't enough. The plot for this movie doesn't sound too bad on paper, but they execute it very poorly. They just put their characters through too much danger and action instead of giving us a reason for why we should care about what's going on. They just rushed this whole movie and made it just for the money. The only reason I didn't give this the lowest rating is because it did have a couple interesting things, but other than that this was a terrible sequel. I will be seeing Jurassic World on the weekend and while I have been hearing mixed things about it, all I can say is that it can't be worse than this one.

That day I learned that any one of us is capable of taking another human life. But I also learned there is a difference between us and them: it's feeling remorse. Dealing with guilt. Confronting a conscience. Early never did."

This was such an underrated movie. Brad Pitt was amazing in this movie and this might be one of my favorite roles from him. I just loved the overall plot, the acting and the dialogue, but Brad Pitt's character is a huge part of what makes this movie great.

I can't believe how underappreciated this movie is. Maybe it's because it was released around the dark ages of superhero films, so it was just seen as another dumb superhero movie. I thought this was a really funny and satirical take on the whole superhero movie by giving us intentionally lame superheroes. The casting in the movie was great for this kind of movie with comedians like Ben Stiller, Hank Azaria and Paul Reubens while also giving us a serious actor like William H. Macy and we have a really good comedic cast. It was just a really funny movie from start to finish and while it has gotten a little appreciation over the years, it's still very underrated and it really doesn't deserve the hate it gets.

"The key to a happy life is to accept you are never actually in control."

Before seeing this I was thinking to myself that if this sequel is at least as good as The Lost World, then I'll be satisfied. Now that I have seen it all I can say is that it's the best Jurassic Park sequel. For once it actually has build-up instead of just getting to the dinosaurs right away just like the first Jurassic Park movie did. I also liked Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard's performances, it had some really interesting ideas especially that scene with that ball ride and the action in this movie was awesome. It's not a great movie, but like I said it's the best Jurassic Park sequel and it's a highly entertaining popcorn film. I can see younger generations really loving this movie though (Not saying fans of the series won't love it however.) and might even get them interested in seeing the other movies in the series.

"I think we just wanted to be part of the lifestyle. The lifestyle that everybody kinda wants."

Well, I did say in my Most anticipated movies of 2013 list that the only way I would see it is if it hits Netflix or cable (Although for the record, I meant it airing on one of those movie channels without commercials and are shown in their full glory without any edits.) and now that it's on Netflix I should just finally see it despite the fact that I dreaded the day I ever watched this. Well it's not as bad as I thought it was going to be and it is one of Sofia Coppola's better films although that is not saying much. The main problem I have is that this movie seems to glorify these crimes that happened in real life. I have a feeling I might sound like a hypocrite for saying this because this is coming from someone who loves crime films, but here's the thing. In movies like Goodfellas or Scarface, the character's actions are portrayed as in the wrong. Those movies see them as horrible people, but for whatever reason we still sympathize for them regardless of what they did in real life. In this film however the movie portrays them like this "Oh we stole a bunch of shit from celebrities, but we're human beings too, so please sympathize for us." Boo-fucking-hoo! These characters are a bunch of scumbags. Now I don't have a photogenic memory of the scenes where they are robbing the houses of celebrities, but I don't recall one person who has a conscience and questions whether they should be doing this. This movie glamorizes their crimes and while some people may see this as a social commentary of the obsession of celebrities, it's not good social commentary. Also this whole news story should've never been made in to a theatrical movie. It's a TMZ article and stuff like that is not film-worthy. There was a Lifetime movie based on this story before this one and it should've stayed as one. Now I've harped on the characters, but despite that I don't hate this movie. Despite the fact that I hate these characters, I do think the acting is good even from Leslie fucking Mann! Not to mention that I did actually like the scenes with her schooling her kids in some odd, religious ways. So while it's not awful as I thought it was going to be, the characters were just as unlikable as I thought they would be and I just can't imagine this premise being made into a good movie.

"Let me tell you a story... about a little fat boy that nobody loved and all the other kids, they used to make fun of him... and they would pick on him... and they used to say that he talked funny and stuff... and he had a twin brother... and everybody said that he didn't look anything like his twin brother, but he really wanted to."
"Egg, were you the little fat boy?"
No. But I used to like to beat him up. I'd go, "Why are you so fat?" and I'd beat the shit out of him. Isn't that a great story?"

I have been reluctant to see this movie because it was directed by the same guy who did Better Off Dead which I hated. I decided to watch it this month anyways because you know, it's the month of summer. I ended up enjoying it much more than Better Off Dead. Unlike this movie it relies on some really funny, zany visual humor instead of the jokes being painfully obvious, in-your-face or predictable like the aforementioned film. While it does have a ton of funny moments, the highlight would have to be the scene where Bobcat Goldthwait is stuck in the Godzilla suit. It's a good movie and it was just a pleasant surprise.

"I can think of a lot of things to call Saito, but "reasonable"... that's a new one."

While this was a good movie, I thought that for a highly-regarded classic movie it was pretty overrated. While it does have some good acting and some well-written dialogue, I was expecting it to be a lot more epic especially considering the time length. Instead the lengthy runtime makes this movie a chore to sit through. Now I did really like this movie around the first half, but the longer the movie went on was when it started to really lose steam and drag on longer than it needs to. So while I liked this movie, I just don't think the great film that everyone makes it out to be.

"Memories are meant to fade. They're designed that way for a reason."

This movie is so underrated. I know I say that quite a bit, but I just can't believe this movie doesn't get that much recognition. I went into this movie blind so I didn't know anything about the premise and when I found out what it was I thought it was a great premise. They explored a lot of interesting ideas from it and that quote above which is referring to the whole recorded memories aspect is such a great line. I also loved the characters especially Angela Bassett's character who I'm normally not a fan of. I mean I have to admit that she is versatile as an actress who's played quite a variety of characters, but I'm normally not impressed with her roles and she has made some bad movie choices. However in this movie she plays a badass in this film and it's probably her best role. Overall this was an underrated sci-fi film that should've been considered a classic of the genre by now.

For a movie that was Clint Eastwood's directorial debut, it was pretty solid. My opinion on this movie is pretty identical to my opinion on Bloodsport. It's entertaining at times, but the dialogue needed some work, the story isn't very original and it's predictable. Still it has some things going for it and the fight scene at the end was very well-done and I think that part made the movie less of a waste of time. Also now I know what movie Hot Shots Part Deux was parodying at the beginning of the film, so I guess that's another plus.

Just as I suspected from the trailers, I enjoyed this movie more than the first one. I mean the first one had it's moments, but it was a little too gross at times. Thankfully this one relies on less gross-out humor and because there's less of it, it's more funny when the gross-out jokes do happen. Anyways I thought this was a consistently funny movie for the most part and while it's not a necessary sequel, I still enjoyed seeing these characters again especially Rob Corddry who stole the show in the first one. There are a few jokes that fall flat, but most of the jokes in this movie are funny and outweigh the ones that don't work. While I did enjoy this movie, I have to say that the credits sequence was the funniest part. That part in the movie is what made me laugh hard the most. That's not to say that the majority of the movie didn't make me laugh that much, but it's kind of like 22 Jump Street where the credits is the highlight of the movie. Overall it's a good sequel that is better than the original and it's better than people have made it out to be.

While this is far from being a bad movie, it's easily the worst Clive Owen movie I've seen so far. I will give it credit that the direction this movie went is different than I thought it would be because during the first 30 minutes of this movie I thought it was going to take the Fatal Attraction route right around the time when Jennfier Anniston's character was introduced. Luckily it didn't take that route, but it's still not that interesting. It does have it's moments, but it's just a cookie-cutter thriller that's not as suspenseful as it wants to be. Another problem I had is that Jennifer Anniston was horribly miscast in this film. Now if this movie came out more recently around the time when she became more confident in her roles starting with Horrible Bosses then she could probably pull of this role, but because it came out in 2005 she tries too hard to play an intellegent character with an advanced job. While I haven't seen a bad movie with Clive Owen yet, this is the worst movie I've seen from his so far. At least The International had a cool shoot-out scene.

Not one of Oliver Stone's best films, but it's still pretty good. It had a great performance from James Woods, a really compelling story and for once James Belushi is actually tolerable and is actually decent in this movie which surprised me. Coincidentally I decided to watch this movie the exact day that James Horner died and the crazy thing is that the news was announced right around the time I started watching it. I've always considered him to be one of my favorite film composers and his death was a huge tragedy as I find plane crashes to be one of the most tragic ways to die.

This movie was such an emotionally powerful journey. It had a compelling story, great acting and really well-developed characters that are really hard not to care about. The problem with Steve Martin nowadays is that he started to go downhill when he decided that he wanted to do family-friendly films and remakes of classic movies. I need to break up, Ma."

I really liked this movie, but unfortunately it doesn't really do the book justice. On the plus side it is funnier than the book due to it being a movie as this type of media generally makes me laugh harder than text for some reason and Sam Rockwell was perfect for the leading role, but the problem with this movie is that it's too short. I feel like this movie needed more time to develop the story and characters and I feel like there were some important parts from the book that were left out. I was especially disappointed with how they didn't add in the breaking-the-fourth-wall beginning where he tries to persuade you to not read this book, I don't get why they couldn't do it in movie form because that opening was part of what gave the book it's edge. Now despite my criticisms with this movie I still think it's a solid adaptation and at least the twist ending is still intact, but I just think they could've put a bit more work into it.

This was such a great movie. It had amazing performances from Maggie Gyllenhaal and James Spader, a really weird story and it was also pretty funny at times. As much as I don't want to bring up 50 Shades of Grey here, I really feel like that the author of those books stole from this movie not just because of the subject matter, but because even one of the characters in this movie is named Mr. Grey. Still it's a great movie and I loved everything about it.

"This is my most special place in all the world, Ray. Once a place touches you like this, the wind nevers blows so cold again. You feel for it, like it was your child."

After seeing this I have to say that it's just as good as the reviews make it out to be. I'm not a fan of sports in general and I think baseball is one of the most boring sports of all time, but this is the best baseball movie I have seen this far and I don't know if I'll see anything better than this. It had some really great acting, a really down to earth story and for a movie that focuses on baseball it's more about the story than it is about the baseball which is much better than having a 20 minute baseball scene just for the sake of filler.

"A is for Axiom, your home sweet home. B is for Buy N Large, your very best friend."

I have to confess something about this movie, I've never actually seen it. I've saw a very small chunk of it years ago, but I never saw it from start to finish for reasons I don't understand. I had already marked this movie as watched though before watching it for real this time and even though I had already rated it, the rating that I gave it still remains accurate. It's a great movie and I really love how the first 30 minutes on this movie relies on minimal dialogue which is very impressive for a kids film. I loved the characters, I loved the storyline and I loved how they made their environmental message subtle instead of overly-explaining it. It has almost everything it needs to be a masterpiece, but the reason I didn't give it a perfect score is because while I did love it, it doesn't really have that strong emotional payoff at the end and I kind of felt like there was something missing from this movie. Also it just doesn't measure up to the amount of greatness that the best Pixar movies have, but it's still a Pixar classic and I'm glad I finally watched the whole thing.

"Chi trova un amico, trova un tesoro."
"What does that mean?"
"Whoever finds a friend, finds a treasure."

I remember when this movie came out and this movie was trashed by critics and fans of Pixar films and people claimed it to be Pixar's first bad movie. Now that I've finally seen it I don't think it's that bad, but I can understand where the hate comes from. I actually had a feeling that this movie wouldn't be well-received before this movie came out because as far as I'm concerned the first Cars movie was the weakest Pixar movie until now and I still can't get over the fact that they thought a sequel to Cars would be a good idea. Now I like how they did something different instead of re-hashing the same formula and added in a spy parody even if it doesn't completely work. It also does have some funny moments every now and then, but the problem is that Tow Mater gets most of the spotlight this time around which can be a problem since he does get annoying at times. The biggest problem I had this movie was that it lacks that thing that all the previous Pixar movies had and that is adult appeal. Now I'm not talking about just sneaking in adult humor or a pop culture reference, but what made the previous films work is that they were able to appeal to all ages while this movie seems like is was strictly made for kids which is a problem as it goes against what this company stands for. In the end it's an OK movie that has some things going for it, but it's the weakest Pixar movie I've seen so far.

"At the end, a job is not just a job, is who you are, and if wanna change who you are, you have to change what you do..."

This is far from essential viewing, but it's still highly entertaining. It is a bit overlong and the script could've been better, but I got what I expected with this movie, so not much to write about here.

Ted 2 (2015)

"What's your middle name?"
"Leslie."
"Oh, my god! You're Sam L. Jackson!"
"That's great! I mean, just like Sam L. Jackson."
"Who is that?"
"You ever seen any movie ever? He's the black guy."

While sequels to comedy movies don't normally turn out well, this one is a worthy sequel to Ted. It was consistently funny, even funnier than the original at times as there's so many parts in this movie that had me laughing hard. Unfortunately it does have it's problems, the main one being is that the plot for this movie is even more cliche than the plot in the first movie and that's saying something considering that the plot in Ted wasn't very original either. I also wasn't the biggest fan of the improv scene as it did have at least a couple "Too soon!" jokes including the mention of the Charlie Hebdo shootings which really rubbed me the wrong way, but it was worth it for the "Nobody said Starbucks." line. I also felt like it tried to needlessly shove in drama quite a bit at times especially near the end. Other than that it's a pretty good sequel and it's one of the funniest movies to come out this year so far.

"Hey, you wanna hear my philosophy of life? Do it to him before he does it to you."

What a perfect way to end the month. This movie is a classic in every way from the well-written and memorable dialogue and Marlon Brando's performance which is just as amazing as everyone says it is. It's such a fantastic movie and I'm glad I finally saw it.
