Can You Say Fun?

Dog Soldiers is one of a couple good films from Neil Marshall. I would call this more of an action/comedy than a horror movie however. I saw Doomsday and thought pretty positively of it, so I thought I would check this out.

"Soldiers" takes place in the same general area for most of the duration, which was fine because it takes away having to focus a lot, or for that matter having ... read more

I have tried to watch this several times, but something always comes up. So this time I will finally be able to watch this distraction free. This is written and directed by Neil Marshall who hasn't made an awful movie yet. This even has a few excellent cast members like Sean Pertwee and Liam Cunningham. Anyways it's time to see how this is finally. I'm so satisfied that I finally got around to thi... read more

A British Squad is sent on a training mission in the Highlands of Scotland against Special Operations squad. Ignoring the childish "campfire" stories heard about the area, they continue with their mission and come across the bloody remains of the Special Ops Squad, and a fierce howling is pitching the night sky... With two mortally wounded men, they make an escape, running into a zoologist by the name of Megan - who knows exactly what hunts them. What began as what they thought was a training mission turns into a battle for their lives against the most unlikely enemies they would have expected - werewolves.

"This is my second time giving this film a proper chance, as in my first viewing I failed to see what was so special about it. And even this time through, I don't see this as the cult classic that most seem to think of it as. Neil Marshall's second film, "The Descent" remains to be the only truly fantastic thing I think he's produced. This is an alright film, and plenty of good, undemanding fun, but that's all it amounts to. And my biggest gripe is still the sloppy, unrefined direction. "The Desc"

" Date: 10/29/2019 Viewed: Amazon Prime Re-Watch Note: This movie still holds up over 15 years later in my opinion. This movie is filled with great action and cool characters. The movie is pretty creative on the werewolf genre and the special effects in this movie still hold up. If you want a fun action horror movie, this movie is worth checking out. "

Anyways it's time to see how this is finally. I'm so satisfied that I finally got around to this one. Despite it being over ten years old it holds up fairly well. The creature designs were pretty good. The gore effects were well done. All the characters were interesting enough to make you care what happened to them. There were a few twists I didn't see coming which was good. That Matrix reference was amusing. In fact there were some great moments of comedy mixed in here and there. I loved t” read more
