So I have been following this series since it first came out. I think I watched the first one on a group trip if I remember correctly. I was slightly disappointed with that only because it didn't give me what I wanted. The second one is way better in that it actually did what I was hoping the first one would. It showed the mayhem of the night. So with this I am pretty excited to see how it all rou... read more

" So while the second film in this franchise was a step up from the abysmal original, THE PURGE: ELECTION YEAR makes the mistake of being horribly boring. Not even Frank Grillo is able to save this one. A huge problem is that the characters, while not exactly being rocket scientists in any of the previous films, are unfathomably stupid in this one. There are so many decisions being made here that my brain can't grasp what's happening, so it just shuts off. Which would be fine if the filmmaking it"

"Como regresar al inicio un verdadero retroceso en cuanto a lo que pasa en la segunda pelicula y que para mas trata de ser moralista ojala y si sea el final de esta trilogía, algo que quiero comentar es como en posters y trailers se vende una falsa imagen de la película pues vende la anarquía como algo principal pero luego tiene momentos moralistas, y al final de cuentas casi ni vemos a las personas de los pósters pues nunca vende a los supervivientes quienes son los verdaderos protagonistas."

Movies the giraffe watched in 2018: June (27 movies items)

"First viewing - June 7th I've gotta say, Election Year is kind of a mixed bag. On the one hand I appreciated the exploration of the world that the series exists in, as it pulls back to give us an even bigger picture than the previous entries did. It also gets points for having a trio of characters whose relationship helps elevate the film by giving it a heart. On the other hand, it's not as focused as Anarchy is. There are a lot of detours to try and show what's going on with nameless supportin"

BradWesley123's Movie Journal- October 2016 (25 movies items)

" DVD- 1hr. 47min. First Viewing The Purge: Election Year is, essentially, a rehash of Anarchy, but that isn't much of a quibble; the film suffers the same problems that befell that one (lazy characters, poor plotting), but is smarter. The social critiques and satire, while not being that cutting, are more intelligent and the action more coherent. It's not a perfect movie, but it's the first Purge movie that could be called "good", and is surprisingly engaging. Monthly Wesley AwardBest Sound"

Moviewatcher122's 2017 Film Diary: July (12 movies items)

"July 13 "We will now purge. We will torture you and violate your flesh. Remove your skin and share in your blood. This is the American way." I wasn't sure what I was going to think about this entry of The Purge since I hated the first one, but thought the second one was a major improvement. After seeing it, it's pretty much the same as The Purge: Anarchy except with a political edge. As far as political satire goes, it's not terrible, but it isn't really good and doesn't really have many int"
