Bizarre Love Triangle

A fantastic noir focused around a bizarre love triangle between a gambler, his boss (a front for a Nazi cartel) and his boss' wife (who is also the gamblers ex-lover). Look under the hood and you'll see a film themed on male self-loathing, misogyny and the fear of liberated female sexuality. On the surface its all about the strikingly beautiful Rita Hayworth. Rita Hayworth is one of my absolute favorite actresses. She was magnificent in all of her movies! What a beauty! This movie must be seen by anyone who is interested in Rita. She was one of the best!!!

Eventually, to be honest, even though I thought it was a decent flick, I can’t say I was really blown away by the whole thing. Just arrived in Argentina, small-time crooked gambler Johnny Farrell is saved from a gunman by sinister Ballin Mundson, who later makes Johnny his right-hand man. But their friendship based on mutual lack of scruples is strained when Mundson returns from a trip with a wife: the supremely desirable Gilda, whom Johnny once knew and learned to hate. The relationship of Johnny and Gilda, a battlefield of warring emotions, becomes even more bizarre after Mundson disappears.

Slant’s 100 Best Film Noirs of All Time (100 movies items)

"Charles Vidor’s Gilda places its eponymous bombshell between two men—both sexually frustrated, both concealing their impotence through deviant business practice—and has them not actually care too much about her beyond her value as a trophy to shield their perpetually fractured egos.
