My favorite scene is when Cary Grant wears a feathery feminine bathrobe; this scene contains one of the first popular appearances of the word “gay” being used to mean something other than “extremely happy”; and it is truly... read more

" Notes: It turned out to be one of those typical screwball comedies from the 30's but, to be honest, I have never been a huge fan of the genre. Indeed, even though the plot was supposed to be ridiculous and shouldn't be taken too seriously, I still had a hard time to care about what was going on. On top of that, during the first 10 minutes, I wasn't really convinced by Cary Grant playing a nerd. Fortunately, as soon as Katherine Hepburn finally showed up, the whole thing started to grow on me. "

"First viewing - May 20th While I generally enjoy screwball comedies as well as both Hepburn and Grant, I couldn't quite find my way into this one. I found the characters grating at times and eventually started to wish it'd wrap it up already. Unsure whether I just wasn't in the mood for it or it's just not to my taste. Perhaps I'll try again down the road, but I'm not too enthusiastic about doing so."
