The priest: Who do you think you are? Jesus Christ? What can you do?
François Baillou: I don't know. That's why I'm waiting.

Lee Remick, my god! She is absolutely stunning in an admittedly sub-par script that starts out well enough but falters after about the first thirty minutes.

Film partially lost... Most aesthetically pleasing Oscar Micheaux film I have seen though that could be down to one hell of a restoration that his other films haven’t had.

What a crock of shit, when in the first ten minutes I heard Hepburn's character go on this long-winded diatribe, I knew I was in for it...

The first half was interesting but rudimentary at the same time, kinda screams first world problems and the left wing politics manages to seep through especially by the end where it becomes basically propaganda. A lesser Mother! A good performance by the lead actress but a Thelma and Louise level caricature of other characters. Damn, when I watch older movies somebody just might call another man a sambo outta nowhere and when I watch modern movies it might as well be a Planned Parenthood 90 min advertisement.
