As Quintus Arrius in Ben-Hur!
Jack Hawkins, to many, is a largely unknown actor but to his fans he is known from The Bridge On The River Kwai, Lawrence Of Arabia, League Of Gentlemen and, of course, Ben-Hur!
Despite being overshadowed by Charlton Heston, Mr. Hawkins dominated every scene he appeared in, especially the whole Galley sequence.
What worries me is that how come he wasn't nominated? Another supporting actor, Hugh Griffith (who plays the charismatic Sheik Illdrim) won the Best Supporting Actor Award which i think was undeserving as Jack Hawkins was 10 times better!
Oh well...

As Henry Hill in GoodFellas!
Okay i admit, i'm no big fan of Ray Liotta but his performance in GoodFellas just truly won me over. Scorsese should cast him again in his upcoming movies.
But of course, he was badly overshadowed by Robert De Niro & Joe Pesci, who, after all were already bigger names than Liotta.
Anyhow, Ray Liotta was one of the best male lead!

As Dr. Richard Kimble in The Fugitive!
Ah, his best dramatic effort to this date. Forget the wise-cracking Indy Jones & the rebellious Han Solo, Dr. Richard Kimble is the true role of Harrison Ford and he should play more of these 'fugitive' sort roles.
It was a tough-call in 1993 for Best Actor In A Lead Role and i wasn't surprised that many of my fav. male leads weren't nominated.
Harrison Ford should've been nominated... He made sure that a successful TV series is turned into a successful movie adaptation!

As General Turdigson in Dr. Strangelove!
He may have won the Best Actor In A Leading Role six years later but i still think his performance as the chewing-gum chewing General as his greatest performance ever!
I like Peter Seller but he was, for the first time, overshadowed by George C. Scott, despite that fact that the former was playing 3 different characters!

Happy Vader's rating:
As Ash Williams in Evil Dead II!
An actor from a B-movie getting nominated is highly unlikely but it could've been done only there were enough votes to go around.
I admit, Bruce's performance in the first film wasn't that great but in the sequel... HE WAS THE GUY!
I mean, how could he have not been nominated? Just look at the scene where he fights with his own hand... That's superb performance right there!

Happy Vader's rating:
As Harold 'Hal' Dobbs in Proof!
Okay, okay, okay i know, he is relatively new with only 2-3 recognizable movies but i think that Proof was his best movie, performance-wise!
What do you think?

Happy Vader's rating:
As Cher Horowitz in Clueless!
The thing i like about actresses playing high-school characters is that they play it convincingly and realistically... Not over-exaggerated or any of that!
Alicia's performance was totally ignored that year and i believe it should've been nominated!
If i were in the Board (or whatever) i would've had nominated her!

Happy Vader's rating:
As Leonard Shelby in Memento!
Memento is one of those milestone films and his performance is one of those cornerstone of acting skills.
Christopher Nolan & Guy Pearce delivered both with this fine crafted movie and bought us one of the best talents we have around but sadly.... Did not get nominated!

Happy Vader's rating:
As Seth Brundle in The Fly!
I've always been a fan of Jeff Goldblum as far as i can remember and The Fly stands out as his excellent effort - performance-wise - to this day.
Despite being a remake, both David Cronenberg & Jeff Goldblum made it look it as if it wasn't!
... And Roger Ebert was right: People simply didn't vote much for him!

Happy Vader's rating:
As Thomas in The Fountain!
Finally, a Hugh Jackman movie without the claws and the growl... His dramatic - slighty disturbed - performance as Thomas, who is living for centuries, truly captured me and became my no. 1 actor for that moment!
A very classic performance that only few can deliver!

Happy Vader's rating:
As Christopher McCandless / Alex Supertramp in Into The Wild!
Emile is another newbie with few recognizable movies but he literally slapped everyone in the face with his flawless performances in this Sean Penn directed movie!
A great achievement i must say!

Happy Vader's rating:
As Michael 'Mike' Sullivan in Road To Perdition!
Okay, okay Tom Hanks may have won The Best Actor 2 times but he should've been nominated for this one also.
His gripping, gritty and dramatic performance outranks his own Apollo 13 performance by miles!

Happy Vader's rating:
As Truman Burbank in The Truman Show!
Anyone who doesn't like Jim Carrey is not in the right state of mind. He is one of the few great actors who hasn't been nominated for a single award bar the MTV Awards and such!
It was a first-class performance and really stands out as his brilliant effort that put many other actors to shame!

Happy Vader's rating:
As Jame Gumb in Silence Of The Lambs!
Not a big fan but i liked his performance. I had read the novel before watching the movie and Ted Levine portrayed Jame Gumb exactly the way it had to!
Sorry for saying this but both Jodie Foster & Anthony Hopkins kinda glamorized their roles while Mr. Levine played it right out of the book!
He stole the movie and deserved to be nominated!

Happy Vader's rating:
As Eliot Ness in The Untouchables!
I love actors / actresses who play real-life people. And Mr. Costner is no exception.
A very, very underrated performance... Even though it was a little far-cut than the original TV series!
