Recobbled Cut. The plot barely flows, but the story and people behind the film are so good they make for it. The art and the animation are superb on technical level alone.

Here's a nice trivia for you: they asked Sean Connery to read one line, but Connery declined the offer because he thought it was some stupid joke. The line was: "I love you".

Masaki Kobayashi meant this film as a kind of anti-Ikiru where the impending doom of a sick man doesn't cause anyone to seek anything good or meaningful in the world, but brings up the worst sides of people. There are several direct references to Kurosawa's film, as far as I know Kobayashi saw himself as a rivaling artist with his own take on the typical Kurosawa themes, including samurais whose virtues and ideologies turn out to be nothing but hollow words, people haunted by the ghosts of the past, etc. Masaki Kobayashi was the man.

The best of the three. If the first was an objetive look at the reality of war, the second was more sociological study on men becoming part of that reality, then this is about a subjective experience of a soldier.

This is my kind of Christmas film, Robbie is fun as they come, but it's also a clever little film with lots of heart and effort put into it. Mark Knopfler from Dire Straits wrote the soundtrack.

In your face macabre satire. For politicians people are just pawns and lambs to be slaughtered, I doubt Kubrick even understood how close to the reality he actually was, since during the Cuban Crisis the Soviet forces chose to launch the nuclear war but were prevented by one general who lost half of his crew on a nuclear submarine accident. Now that's a helluva story for another day.

A not very historically accurate depiction of an African tribe. It's visually good looking, but I wouldn't have wanted to see too obvious modern political leanings in my historical drama.

One of the all time greatest films. Considering how catastrophic the creation of this thing was it's a true miracle how good the end product ended up being.

A film loosely based on French military mutiny of the late Great War. Around that time Frech army was severy exhausted and people were demanding peace, mutinies arose but they were taken down and they took bunch of the rebels and executed them as warning to the rest of them. The mutinies also ended up having to make changes to the tactics and logistics, but that isn't mentioned in the film.

Wonderful film, well researched and executed realism of war, but little exaggerated in few places.

Lol. This film is so full of historical inaccuracies it's almost too embarrassing to watch. They could've made a dark and surreal film about the horrors of war similar to Come and See from the 80's, but instead went into full cartoon territory with all the over the top horror crap.

A hugely groundbreaking and influential war film. Around this time people were barely used to sound, and these guys managed to break all the rules by creating a real war with massive sound editing, mixing and all. Not only that, but they had to innovate and find new ways to fix the clumsy silencing technique in order to get all the cranes and wires working. This, and imagine all the work done with the explosives and realistic battle scenes etc. Did I remember to say how groundbreaking this film was back in the day?

The 30's France was a true powerhouse of classic cinema. Wooden Crosses alone was a massive film, but the five hour long epic of Les Miserables from the same director is even better, possibly the best version of the story ever told on big screen. This is the one definitive Les Miserables you have to see at least once in your lifetime, not the silly Hollywood ones.

More or less the same as Verdun, but this time it's more dramatized and story-driven, the stark realism is definitely there. Also, the sound mixing and editing of this film is superb, especially considering the time it was made. A pacifist classic.

The next clip has some of the most well made war scenes ever on film. The best part starts around 3 minutes.

A massive war film, a completely forgotten French masterpiece. This film is so realistic parts of it are still used in documentaries depicting the living hell that was Verdun, even some famous war photographs are actually stills from this film. Lots of extras and actors in this were actual war veterans, and they even got Philippe Petain to portray himself.

This film is AWFUL, a nearly complete trainwreck. Pinocchio himself doesn't have any agency and the moral side of the story is completely cut off.

This film is so misunderstood it physically hurts me.

Basically it's a story about free will and the source of violence and perversion in a modern society. A thug gets brainwashed by society to be a "normal" law abiding citizen, but in reality the high society itself has normalized brutality and all the vices in the world. Even the aesthetics of this film are completely deranged and ugly on purpose, they even searched the ugliest, most disgusting brutalist architecture possible to make this film.

Is it just me or does this film actually draw inspiration from Disney's Pinocchio, especially the anarchistic Pleasure Island where the bad boys are turned into donkeys, but here model citizens via brainwashing?

I was just reading a book about Judas and Jesus when this short kept popping into my mind over and over again. I had to re-watch it just so I could have some peace again, and to my surprise I still really enjoyed it. For an independent animated short film this shouldn't be this good, but they did it anyway. The animation alone is almost feature film quality, the characters have all their own well designed body movements and expressions. The erotic humor is over the top and in your face, and still makes you feel dirty for liking it.

Not recommended for anyone taking this kind of shit too seriously.

One of my least favourite Uuno films. This one is only interesting because it more or less aims to laugh at trans people but only ends up being very grotesqe. Still, it's quite a curiosity and definitely couldn't be made today.

Considering the development hell this film supposedly went through it's a huge surprise the end result ended up being this good. Don Bluth said his childhood teacher once read them a great book with the same title, but after they decided to make a film out of it they found out that the teacher had fooled them and made it all up. They had to begin from the absolute zero and even contacted a big time professional to make any sense out of it. Lots of sidestories and characters ended up being cut, including a small portion which told the backstory of the infamous big-lipped alligator that was supposed to be a leader of a rival gang, which is why the gator hates Carface.

This is the one where the fans decided to walk away from the franchise. Fart Date is like a combination of every basic mistake made since the third film and especially Genisys, it's all there in one huge pile of caca. There's barely any character arcs anymore, the storytelling is lame and boring, all the violence has been cut away, no atmosphere, the special effects are just shitty CGI... and this thing was produced by James Cameron himself.

This time they had guts to exploit the first film and pretty much kill everything I loved about it. Sarah Connor doesn't have a character arc, she's just another tough female character who can just do whatever she wants and doesn't need some Kyle Reese doofus to help her out.

John Connor? Hah! He's the villain of the story! What a way to screw your audience.

I like the basic idea of Salvation, but the film itself sucks balls big time, oh my god. It's so sterile and boring, even the few short flashbacks seen in the first films had more feeling and atmosphere than this thing.

It's been 15 years since I first saw this mess and it still sucks the big one. It's like a Mount Everest of bad choices from the very beginning: the humor sucks, the characters suck, the ending sucks, the special effects suck, the female John Connor sucks, the villain sucks, but the action is kinda cool.

I have serious trouble rating this film. On the other hand it's very spot on and funny, but on the other hand it lacks many of the strong points of the first film, like kickass soundtrack and well written side characters. I don't know, but I wish many more people would watch this just so they could experience some real fun time like we did back in the 90's.

Way better than I remembered. The plot is about average IQ going down the toilet and the future looking like a farce, but between the lines there's so much more message about the role of a state, corporate corruption, social policies and stuff. The ending is both naive and very ironic, since while they try to make the world better place to live, they only touch the bare surface while the big system remains the same and nothing really changes or ever will.

No, just no. This something of a half-baked remake, where they tried to create more serious backstory for an already established character. In the process they sucked out lot of the charm and humor of the character, there's barely the same kind of fun action that over the top cartoon version had. I think the cartoon fit the character way better than this version.
