" First Viewing Viewing Date: August 19th Via: Amazon Prime Video Plot: A canine angel, Charlie, sneaks back to earth from heaven but ends up befriending an orphan girl who can speak to animals. In the process, Charlie learns that friendship is the most heavenly gift of all. Rating: 6.3/10 Why Did I Watch It? It seemed like an obvious cinematic blind spot, and I recently saw clips on social media that reminded me that this exists."

"Rated: G Why itโs rated: Doggy hell, some mild violence, and cigarette smoking."
"15.8. Considering the development hell this film supposedly went through it's a huge surprise the end result ended up being this good. Don Bluth said his childhood teacher once read them a great book with the same title, but after they decided to make a film out of it they found out that the teacher had fooled them and made it all up. They had to begin from the absolute zero and even contacted a big time professional to make any sense out of it. Lots of sidestories and characters ended up being"
"Re-watch - Jan. 20th HBO Max The kiddo had not seen this yet, so I watched it with her. Can't recall the last time I sat through it, but it was more or less just what I remembered. It's interesting to see a movie aimed at kids dealing with gambling, orphans, murder, & the afterlife so openly. But that was Don Bluth for you...dude was never afraid to go to darker places within his animated films. The songs are just OK (Burt Reynolds isn't known for his singing talents) & it never reaches greatne"
"Right from the get go, the film is dark and depressing, the main character gets hit by a car and dies (don't worry, he's ok, and comes back ok), Charlie is a bit of a jerk and manipulates the poor girl, to no end, and there is a depiction of hell that is pretty heavy, even for a kids film. There is also a fair amount of violence, and shooting as well. "
