Love the bomb.
Sellers plays several characters in this film, Group Captain Lionel Mandrake, President Merkin Muffley and of course Dr. Strangelove. Each not only showed an amazing command of various accents, English, American and German in that order; but highlighted just exactly why Seller's was one of the greate... read more

"FORMAT: 35mm CONDITION: ★★★ NOTES: Original release print, mostly presented half in perfect focus and not without several cuts or damage but still in impressive quality. Sadly but ironically, the print cut out as Major Kong was trying to fix the bomb doors and the remainder of print flew off and spilled onto the floor, halting the performance with eight minutes left. DATE: May 27th 2024 CINEMA: The Prince Charles Cinema LOCATION: West End"

"SCREENING: 35mm DATE: May 27th CINEMA: The Prince Charles Cinema LOCATION: West End WITH: An original release print that spilled onto the floor with eight minutes to spare, and at a very inconvenient (but also very ironic) place to crash. Especially annoying considering the other screenings weren’t timed to my liking."

"Es una película a prueba de remakes, ya que el contexto de esta cinta es tan particular que no puede ser readaptado a otra época que no sea la Guerra Fría en medio de la paranoia nuclear mundial. Considerenlo su punto fuerte y débil a la vez, pero no digan que Kubrick hizo chistesitos al aire sobre el presidente soviético siendo un alcohólico y posible homosexual o dos bombas que parecen una pija gigante."

" Truthfully speaking, the amount of time it took for Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb to finally grow on me was almost as long as the title of this movie is. I first watched it when I was very young, so it was no surprise that's its intention was completely lost on me. However, as I grew older, and began to appreciate things such as Peter Sellers multi-talented, comedic style of acting (particularly when it comes to black satire), and Stanley Kubrick's la"

Classic Cold War black comedy; Kubrick's best film
“Verified Purchase
I have long been torn between this and 2001: A Space Odyssey as vying for the title of Kubrick's best movie. Having watched the former again, I would have to call it a draw.
Dr Strangelove brilliantly dissects the insanity of "Mutually Assured Destruction" , the Cold War policy that led to the ability to wipe out the human race many times over. Sadly, nothing has been learnt from it. Nuclear arsenals remain. Perhaps this film should be mandatory viewing for political leaders who have control of such things.
Peter Sellars gives some of the best film performances of his career as an RAF officer, then deranged Nazi scientific adviser to his portrayal of a US president.
The film looks very good in this 1080p version.” read more

"4.11. In your face macabre satire. For politicians people are just pawns and lambs to be slaughtered, I doubt Kubrick even understood how close to the reality he actually was, since during the Cuban Crisis the Soviet forces chose to launch the nuclear war but were prevented by one general who lost half of his crew on a nuclear submarine accident. Now that's a helluva story for another day."

"If Dr. Strangelove is your favorite movie....You love Peter Sellers; he is a great hero of yours, and revel and delight in the light, though politically relevant, films of the 1960's: the fun, the swinging, the music, the latent hint of psychadelia - but, more importantly, the satiric statement that is prescient for a world to come (err, I mean, the world we are in, now, right now, the climax of the entire universe, now).
