Happy Vader's rating:
A deliciously weird fairy-tale of surrealism and, wait for it, rationality. If you've truly found the secret of Life & Happiness, then you can understand this film :)
Happy Vader's rating:
Heartless (2010)
Our hero makes a Faustian deal with the devil. His heart-shaped birthmark is removed - hence the title - and his life goes from obscurity to perfect. Or has it?
Happy Vader's rating:
1 Litre of Tears (2005)
Based on real events, this film shows the painfully short life of Aya Kito, and how she fights spinocerebellar axatia - a deadly disease - for 10 years. Emotional stuff indeed!
Happy Vader's rating:
My Dinner with Andre (1981)

Happy Vader's rating:

Waiting for Forever (2011)
A unique love story about friendship and a view of the world from different perspectives, WAITING FOR FOREVER explores the connections people make in the face of life's changes. Best friends while they were growing up, Emma (Rachel Bilson) and Will (Tom Sturridge) lost touch a long time ago--as far as she knows. To Will, Emma never stopped being the most important person in his life. Believing them to be forever linked, he goes wherever she goes. Will doesn't have a home, a car, or a "real" job. He survives on his talent as a juggler and entertainer--talents honed through years of showing off for Emma. When her father gets sick, Emma returns to their hometown, trying to leave behind her complicated love life and failing career as a TV actress.
Last Holiday (2006)
Queen Latifah is absolutely delightful in Wayne Wang's romantic comedy, LAST HOLIDAY. Latifah stars as Georgia Byrd, a reserved plus-sized woman who lives a dreary, ordinary life in pre-Katrina New Orleans, where she dreams of an elegant existence filled with fancy food, stylish clothing, and high-society parties. But she spends most of her evenings eating frozen dinners all alone, often thinking about a shy coworker (LL Cool J) she has a crush on.
Girlfriend (2010)
Evan (Evan Sneider) is a young man with Down syndrome who lives with his mother, Celeste (Amanda Plummer) in a working class, small town. When he unexpectedly comes into a large amount of money, he uses it to romantically pursue a young mother, Candy (Shannon Woodward), who is still entangled in her previous relationship with her abusive ex-boyfriend (Jackson Rathbone).
Sushi Girl (2012)
Fish has spent six years in jail. Six years alone. Six years keeping his mouth shut about the robbery, about the other men involved. The night he is released, the four men he protected with silence celebrate his freedom with a congratulatory dinner. The meal is a lavish array of sushi, served off the naked body of a beautiful young woman. The sushi girl seems catatonic, trained to ignore everything in the room, even if things become dangerous. Sure enough, the four unwieldy thieves can't help but open old wounds in an attempt to find their missing loot.
All Things Fall Apart (2011)
Deon is a football player who suffers a deadly disease. However, despite receiving love and praise for his entire life due to his athletic ability, he is still a good person who loves his family and is willing to share the glory on the football field. His mother Bee is incredibly proud, his younger brother Sean is understandably jealous, and Bee’s boyfriend/Deon’s surrogate father Eric sees the football star as a winning lottery ticket. Even though Deon is fighting cancer he still tries to finish what he started.
Hunger (2008)
HUNGER is the stunningly assured debut feature from Turner Prize-winning visual artist Steve McQueen. Winner of the 2008 Cannes Camera d’Or among other top international prizes, the film is a work of astonishing precision co-written by acclaimed Irish playwright Enda Walsh and starring Michael Fassbender (300, Tarantino’s upcoming INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS) in an unflinchingly passionate turn. HUNGER was an official selection of the Toronto, Telluride and New York film festivals. In 1981, a deadly serious battle takes place in the infamous H-block of Belfast’s Maze Prison. Republican inmates, led by Bobby Sands (Fassbender), refuse to eat until the British government acknowledges the IRA as a legitimate political organization. Steve McQueen’s commanding direction captures the phsyical details of their struggle. Is it suicide or martyrdom?
Peacock (2010)
When a train crashes into John's backyard in small-town Peacock, Nebraska, his neighbors discover a confused woman milling about. They rush to aid the woman and assume she is John's wife, but their efforts prompt John to descend into psychosis.
Hedwig And The Angry Inch (2001)
Hedwig, born a boy named Hansel in East Berlin, fell in love with an American G.I. and underwent a sex-change operation in order to marry him and flee to the West. Unfortunately, nothing worked out quite as it was supposed to - years later, Hedwig is leading her rock band on a tour of the U.S., telling her life story through a series of concerts at Bilgewater Inn seafood restaurants. Her tour dates coincide with those of arena-rock star Tommy Gnosis, a wide-eyed boy who once loved Hedwig... but then left with all her songs.
Bruce Campbell is Elvis Presley. Your argument is invalid. He is in a retirement home. Lower your eyebrows. A soul sucker is on the prowl, and it's up to Presley to stop the demon which he has christened Bubba Ho-Tep from taking his soul, all the while dealing with the complexities of old-age!
Happy Vader's rating:

Chernobyl Diaries (2012)
Six tourists hire an extreme tour guide who takes them to the abandoned city Pripyat, the former home to the workers of the Chernobyl nuclear reactor. During their exploration, they soon discover they are not alone.
Havoc (2005)
A pair of naive young girls learn that even the most insignificant actions can have lasting consequences. Influenced by the hip-hop thug lifestyle and seeking to explore life outside of their insulated, culturally homogenized suburb, pretty young teenagers Allison and Emily set their sights on East L.A. to experience the "gangsta" lifestyle firsthand. By the time the pair meet a ruthless Mexican drug dealer named Hector, some true-life Latino gang-bangers, and realize just how far out of their element they really are, it may already be too late to turn back.
The Virgin Suicides (1999)
On the surface the Lisbons appear to be a normal 1970s family living in a middle-class Michigan suburb. Mr. Lisbon is a quirky math teacher, his wife is a strictly religious mother of five attractive teenage daughters who catch the eyes of the neighborhood boys. However, when 13-year-old Cecilia commits suicide, the family spirals downward into a creepy state of isolation and the remaining girls are quarantined from social interaction (particularly from the opposite sex) by their zealously protective mother. But the strategy backfires, their seclusion makes the girls even more intriguing to the obsessed boys who will go to absurd lengths for a taste of the forbidden fruit.

In short, movies which are not 100% in the public conscious. The public may or not have seen a film as old as Nosferatu, but they can still tell you certain scenes from it. Same goes for recent movies; whether you have or haven't seen The Dark Knight, you may have probably "seen" the film through countless parodies, imitations, references etc...
Ever stumbled upon a great - or plain good - film you wished people would see more? Now's your chance to let it be known!
