Through its portrayal of the concept of "truth" behind sexuality, gender, and self-identity, allows the viewer a rare opportunity to consider him/herself (bad pun intended)and his/her place in society.

It's a sad day for a "homophobic" when he likes a film like this. I liked it. I loved it. The music were great, the camera were great, the acting was great, it was funny, it was a pleasant surprise.

A sad day indeed. r.i.p

An average movie

To be honest, I wonder how I actually ended up watching this flick. The main reason was probably that I kept hearing some really good things about this movie and it seemed to be a really wild cult-classic. Eventually, even though I thought it was a decent watch and I was definitely able to appreciate it, I canโ€™t say it really blew me away though. Itโ€™s not that the whole thing really shocked me... read more

Hedwig, born a boy named Hansel in East Berlin, fell in love with an American G.I. and underwent a sex-change operation in order to marry him and flee to the West. Unfortunately, nothing worked out quite as it was supposed to - years later, Hedwig is leading her rock band on a tour of the U.S., telling her life story through a series of concerts at Bilgewater Inn seafood restaurants. Her tour dates coincide with those of arena-rock star Tommy Gnosis, a wide-eyed boy who once loved Hedwig... but then left with all her songs.

"FORMAT: 35mm PRINT QUALITY: โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜… NOTES: Terrific preservation; presumably from the same source as Gummo given that they both opened with just the Fine Line logo. The closest it could come to any ruin was the changeover following โ€œWig in a Boxโ€, but even that did not tarnish the end of the song one bit. DATE: July 11th 2021 CINEMA: The Prince Charles Cinema LOCATION: West End"

"I don't know what to say about this movie... I kept waiting for some larger meaning... Maybe I needed to listen harder to the song lyrics. They were a bit hard to discern in some sections. It got recommended to me as one of someone's favorite movies and what inspired them to theater. It's based around a cute ideology of two halves where once everyone existed as siamese twins before an angry god split them apart and then they had love when they found each other... Which is cute but the two halve"
