Perhaps I'm getting old, but I nevertheless find it harder and harder to get scared anymore. I tried watching a couple classic horror movies from the 70s' to get in the mood this Halloween, but it didn't seem to do the trick!
Nevertheless, I do very much treasure some of the genuine thrills, chills and decapitations that have come my way in the movie going experience whether it was in the theater or left with no other alternative - a decent rental. I decided to make this public despite the fact I'm still working out the kinks. I can't load my entire 3003 list for reference on command so I'll have to add to it later as I go along. If I get too many entries that I feel "deserve to be heard" I might go so far as to expand this list. But for now...
About a decade ago AFI came out with their 100 years 100 thrills list. And everyone wouldn't shut up about it the next day after it aired on CBS (Complete Bullshit, hehehe) and would go on endlessly about the real lack of slasher movies on the finished product. The end result is that the makers explained that not every movie on the list has to be a scary movie, it just has to get your blood pumpin'. That's why they used the specific word thrill in the title. Well, I found myself obsessed with this list at first, cause some of the titles I had never even heard of. I was a little hesitant to watch straight through cause if it's one thing I hate, I hate spoilers. (Despite the fact I give some on my 3003 list - I'm such a contradiction!)
But anyway, this list will probably be pretty simple, and I don't know how much work I'll do on it, I just simply had some spare time and wanted to see what people thought? -These are my personal pics for the movies that gave me the goosebumps, even if it is "Rocky". --I added one very crucial thing though. Prejudice sonsofbitches that they are, AFI never includes "foreign" movies on any of their lists. Cause their name stands for the "American" Film Institute. That's a serious flaw in their management, how can they claim they got the BEST of anything if they neglect to allow such superb 'imports'. -So with the foreign category included, I think this is the best of the best that I've seen thus far.
Keep in mind there are some obvious titles missing from the chart that I will add in later as soon as I see them. I will try to give some explanations later "why" I found them exciting. Oh and keep in mind that it's not all in order yet. There's still a few I'm re-arranging but I'm pretty sure about halfway down is everything in the order of how it affected me. Enjoy!
