Robert Wise created this classic horror movie with some astonishing sound effects but without any flamboyant visual effects and even without that he realized one of the greatest horror movie ever made and he did of this movie one of the best thrilling classic horror movie of all time.

(OK) Fine, elegant, precise, horror film without blood. Characters are complex, specially Julie Harris and her sexual, guilty, anguish.

Dr. John Markway, an anthropologist with an interest in psychic phenomena, takes two specially selected women to Hill House, a reportedly haunted mansion. Eleanor (Julie Harris), a lonely, eccentric woman with a supernatural event in her past, and the bold Theodora (Claire Bloom), who has ESP, join John and the mansion's heir, cynical Luke (Russ Tamblyn). They are immediately overwhelmed by strange sounds and events, and Eleanor comes to believe the house is alive and speaking directly to her.

"Watched on: January 18th, 2024. Much better than the remake that I saw as a kid. This one actually felt genuine and I enjoyed the actors. Atmosphere was good as well. Definitely one of the better horror flicks of the 60's for sure!"
