Sleepy Hollow (1999)

Rewatched. Seen years ago so I hardly remember anything, downgraded from a eight to seven and the aggregate score is about right though I would go with a 7.1. Fabulous art direction and production design as you would expect from a Burton film but the plot pales in comparison and gets quite cheesy becoming a prisoner to the Hollywood character arc, to such an extent that all the characters are filmsy.

Blood Simple (1984)

A good movie, quite dreamy in a lot of senses especially the pacing and use of music which is great but the drawn out misunderstanding tropejust kills it for me. Still worth the watch though frustration is possible if we're picky like me and oh Frances McDormand is absolutely gorgeous in this film.

Night on Earth (1991)
8.1

Great cinematography especially in the colors but besides the first and last story, the other three in the middle are uneven and fall very flat. 5.3 would be my rating but different folks, different strokes or something like that.

I am a passenger
And I ride, and I ride
I ride through the city's backsides
I see the stars come out of the sky
Yeah, they're bright in a hollow sky
You know it looks so good tonight

Not really my type of cigar, a bit of a drag. The film look is great, along with the close ups on dirt strewn wrinkles, manly beards and six shooters but the plot pales in comparison to the other two in the series.

Muraki: Ask anyone: I'm no good. Even I think so. I'm the scum of the earth. I have nothing in common with ordinary society. But still - I forgive myself.

The Getaway (1972)
25.1

One of those movies that you like but is still so flawed and cliche that it kinda pisses you off. The director’s hand is too heavy, all over the damn celluloid and the sound editor, mixer, whatever must have been taking LSD. So much dissonance. Yet, despite all that McQueen manages to pull off a respectable performance despite the low grade dialogue and piss poor hackneyed character development.(Damn, this film really brought out the curmudgeon in me) Also having a beautiful leading lady in this wacky sexy faster Mccoy kill kill kill!!!helps to push this mad flick up to a 6.8 for me, while at the same time understanding any score range to be honest.

Reminds me of Restrepo and Jarhead in a melancholic kind of way.

Maria 'Cabiria' Ceccarelli: There's another girl, my friend Wanda, she lives there too, but I don't bother with the others. The others all sleep under the arches in Caracalla. Mind you, I have my own house with water, electricity, bottled gas, I've got everything, even a thermometer. See this one here? She never ever slept under an arch. Well, maybe once... or twice. Of course, my house is nothing like this. But I like it.

Felt more could have been done to make this film a lot better. A little less fluff and a bit more action would have taken this one to the next level. The aggregate score is just about spot on... Steve McQueen is ice cold in this man!

Some absolutely fantastic stories in this collection of six which made me wonder why the hell did I take so long to watch. The last two tales brought down my rating from what would have been a 8 something to 7.8 (again I agree with the aggregate score lol) but that is a matter of preference and what you consider wild. BOMBITA!!

Simón: Do you know you're a criminal?
Empleado Playón : I'm doing my job.
Simón: People who work for criminals are criminals too.
Empleado Playón : Right. That's your opinion.
Simón: Just a miserable slave to this corrupt system
