A good movie

9 years, 5 months ago at Nov 5 10:27
I already saw this movie but since it was ages ago, I was quite eager to check it out again. First of all, it had been also many years since I saw a movie starring Iréne Jacob and she kept reminding me of another actress and it took me a while to figure out that it was Claire Danes. I know, they don't actually really look a like but it had mostly to do with her silhouette and her body language wh... read more

"Three Colours Trilogy": Part 3

1 year, 10 months ago at Jun 4 18:16
All three films in the "Three Colours Trilogy" are must watches, and even me considering 'Three Colours: White' the weakest of the three is not saying anything to discredit it. That is still a great film which is testament to the brilliance of 'Blue' and 'Red' for them to be even better.'Three Colours: Red' is my favourite of the trilogy. Even with less emphasis on action and dialogue (though not ... read more

Valentine is a young model living in Geneva. Because of a dog she ran over, she meets a retired judge who spies his neighbours' phone calls, not for money but to feed his cynicism. The film is the story of relationships between some human beings, Valentine and the judge, but also other people who may not be aware of the relationship they have with Valentine or/and the old judge. Redemption, forgiveness and compassion...

"12.3. 2024 Kieslowski's "Three Colours: Red" presents a sad incident that leads to a unique relationship between two totally different individuals: Valentine, a busy model, hits a dog with her car, but she learns that the dog's real owner, a retired judge called Kern, doesn't want the dog back and insists Valentine on keeping the dog. Kern spends his days eavesdropping on his neighbor's phone calls, possibly trying to compensate his own insecurities since he doesn't have that power over people "

That is still a great film which is testament to the brilliance of 'Blue' and 'Red' for them to be even better.'Three Colours: Red' is my favourite of the trilogy. Even with less emphasis on action and dialogue (though not devoid), it has the most layered, thematically rich and thought-provoking story of the trilogy. To me, 'Red' is not just the best film in the trilogy but also one of the best films seen by me in a while and one of the finest final films for any director. It chiefly focuses on the electrifying relationship between Valentine and the judge, and like with 'Blue' being a poignant exploration of grief an” read more

"Following the formula he started with the first of his famed Three Colours Trilogy, Polish director Krzystof Kielowski concludes the series with the last of the French flag colors, Red. With a theme based on fraternity, this story follows the lives of two primary characters and their different personalities, along with a few secondary characters, and how all of these separate lives are in one way or another, connected, mostly without their awareness. Using different physical levels of the two ma"

Movies the giraffe watched in 2021: March (34 movies items)

"First viewing - Mar. 31st I struggled occasionally to hang with this one, but by the end of it I was glad I stuck with it. Paying attention to all the uses of red throughout helped somewhat (funny, the white entry was the only one I didn't think much about the color it's named for). All three of these films are pretty well-written, I think my issues with this one stem more from the way it pivots between characters and takes its time really establishing them. The ending of this one amused me, ev"
