Bottle Rocket was the defining moment that sparked my interest in the Indie movement. It is the first in the promising career of director Wes Anderson and in my opinion the best. Nowadays, Wes Anderson must be easily one of the most interesting American directors at work so, obviously, I was really eager to check his directing debut. Apparently, it didn’t get much love when it was released and it was a big box-office flop (apparently, Owen Wilson even considered joining the Marines afterwards, as he thought that he had no future as an actor). After Dignan (Owen Wilson) convinces his pals Bob (Robert Musgrave) and Anthony (Luke Wilson) to rob a local bookstore, the trio holes up in a border-town motel, where Anthony falls for a beautiful maid (Lumi Cavazos) and the boys ponder their criminal future. The sweet oddball gem, which marked the acting debuts of Owen and Luke Wilson, also introduced the world to the quirky directorial vision of Wes Anderson.
