"Released on August 28, 1963 Produced by Alta Vista Productions The sixth entry in the Roger Corman/Edgar Allan Poe cycle series "
"31.7. Blu-ray Pikkupelleilyjen jälkeen Corman ja varsinkin Price ottavat taas itsensä ehkä vähän turhankin vakavasti. Viides Corman-Poe-Price -elokuva perustuu ilmeisesti tyystin H.P. Lovecraftin juttuun, mutta oli AIP:n mielestä kait tarpeeksi lähellä. Erinomaisen kiinnostava tarina ei harmittavasti pääse oikeuksiinsa ja koko elokuvan ajan tuntuukin puhdin vain loppuneen. Potentiaalia oli aivan mahdottomasti. Lavasteet ovat komeita ja rotat tsirpittävät, kuin pikkulinnut."

“I don't consider The Haunted Palace one of Vincent Price's or Roger Corman's best. I do put Pit and the Pendulum, The Raven, The Fall of the House of Usher and especially Masque of the Red Death above it, but it is a very good film and worth checking out. It does get a little ponderous at times in the middle and while eerie in tone the music score is over-the-top. However it is well photographed and has beautiful sets. The writing has some fun and macabre moments and the story delivers its suspenseful atmosphere and creepy scares wonderfully even if the enacting terrible revenge angle is familiar territory. Corman's direction is secure also. The acting is very good. Debra Paget before she retired is beautiful and not too bland. Lon Chaney is wonderful, and his entrance is one of The Haunte” read more
"Plot: Charles Dexter Ward inherits an ancestral home and is soon drawn into a madness that involves revenant warlocks, vengeance, and unfathomable gods from beyond. The first adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft's The Case of Charles Dexter Ward (unfairly billed as a Poe tale) deviates from the material quite a bit. It even goes as far as introducing elements from other Lovecraft tales into its narrative. Still, it comes off as a far better product than "The Resurrected". Vincent Price brings his uneq"
"First viewing - Jan. 30th Paramount+ Once again my belief is validated that Vincent Price & Poe adaptations are perfectly suited for one another. This one earns bonus points for incorporating ideas from one of Lovecraft's stories too, & overall the narrative comes together nicely. Plus we get Lon Chaney Jr. as a creepy caretaker. The sets & visuals are wonderful, & I can't think of a single issue I had with it. It may not be my favorite of these Poe adaptations, but I'd gladly watch it again."
"30.3. Vincent Price esittää Vincent Pricen jälkeläistä H.P. Lovecraft -filmatisoinnissa, jossa muinainen pahuus piinaa pikkukaupunkia. Lovecraftilainen kaupunki on todella komean näköinen feikeissä lavasteissaan. Pahuuslinnan salahuoneen rakennelmat ovat myös erittäin hienoja. Miljöö ja Price kannattelevat elokuvaa erinomaisesti."
