When I first saw this film which was a couple of years ago, I absolutely loved it but after revisiting it, I still really liked it a lot! It is a very entertaining film that is adventurous, quite funny and very intense especially during the escape attempts and when some of the prisoners become fugitives. There is one minor fault I have with this film was that I think it could have been about 20 mi... read more

You'll laugh, you'll cry, this movie will stick with you. What more can be said about a classic movie?
The Great Escape is funny and serious in good proportion. It has definitely aged well, being just as interesting, entertaining and relevant to modern audiences as it was the year it was released. I firmly believe that everyone should see this movie. Everyone.

1001 Movies ... my own version (1960's) (112 movies items)

" Notes: Well, it is such a solid and entertaining WWII feature. First of all, the cast was pretty neat (Steve McQueen, James Garner, Richard Attenborough, Charles Bronson, Donald Pleasence, James Coburn) and they all delivered some solid performances, especially Steve McQueen who was at the top of his game at the time. And, of course, it is a fun movie, thatโ€™s for sure but, after rewatching it, I was actually surprised that most of it was actually pretty realistic. Sure, some of the details w"
