Description: Jake Van Dorn is a businessman from the American heartland who shares strong Calvinist convictions with most of his countrymen. His teenage daughter is missing from her church youth convention trip to California and Van Dorn hires a private investigator to find her. The result of the investigation is his daughter is spotted in a cheap X-rated movie. Van Dorn decides to bring her back personally and during the quest he becomes familiar with the pornographic underworld. Hardcore has been reviewed as a melodramatic private detective story. " Director: Paul Schrader His 2nd Movie My 8th movie watched from the director This movie came out exactly thirty years before "Taken" and shares so many similarities. They are both very entertaining, but this one is far less violent. The ending was also quite a different tone... I don't want to spoil what happens. " Date: 1/24/2022 Viewed: Amazon Prime First Viewing Note: After hearing so much about this film over the years, I decided to finally watch it. Hardcore's premise sounds fantastic, and I've enjoyed the other films from Paul Schrader. I'm glad I saw it because it was awesome. Hardcore is, in my opinion, a great film.
