A good movie

4 years, 5 months ago at Mar 2 15:54
I had already seen this movie but since it was ages ago, I was quite eager to check it out. In fact, when I was a kid, I used to love these action movies starring Jean-Claude Van Damme and, eventually, 20 years later, it is pretty obvious that most of them were actually pretty much some garbage but he still made a couple of decent features and this one was definitely one of them. Indeed, you can s... read more

I remember seeing a scene or so from this before. It looked so silly, but what do you expect from 90s action movies. I mean it has Jean-Claude Van Damme with a mullet and at some point he bites the rattle of a rattlesnack. It's going to be cheesy just knowing that. Then it's directed by amazing action director John Woo. This was actually his American film debut too! So despite the cheese it will h... read more

" Starz- 1hr. 36min. First Viewing Hard Target is a truly stupid film, but it is gloriously so; combining JCVD and John Woo proves an inspired pairing, as the actor's stilted performance goes surprisingly well with the director's cheesy, kinetic, near-balletic filmmaking style. Really, aesthetic is all the film has going for it; the story isn't necessarily terrible (it could make for some solid social commentary in the right hands), but it's schlock, pure and simple, only elevated by Woo's style "

"6.6. Van Dammen tähdittämässä toimintaelokuvassa Lance Henriksenin johtama pahisliiga järjestää ihmisjahteja adrenaliiniryöppyä janoaville miljonääreille. Kohteiksi palkataan kodittomia sotaveteraaneja, joita ei kaipaa kukaan. Vuosia kaduilla asuneiden vähäosaisten hammaskalustot kiiltävät valkoisina eikä peruskuntokaan näytä rapistuneen yhtään. Homma lähtee vähän lapasesta, kun eräällä sotaveteraanilla olikin tytär. Aikaisemmin täydellisen hienovaraisesti ja hiljaa"

"April 20th Directed by: John Woo A large step above most action films I've seen of the era, most stars get by on cool factor and I think Van Damme has that plus actual martial arts skills. Then of course, John Woo is an action genius, I can't believe how many holy shit moments there were, I'd say over half of the film is action scenes and thank god for that because everything that didn't include Van Damme or Lance Henriksen was downright boring. I did like how the main thrust of the story didn"

Then it's directed by amazing action director John Woo. This was actually his American film debut too! So despite the cheese it will have some great action sequences. Chuck Pfarrer has written some films from the 90s including The Jackal and Darkman. Those were pretty enjoyable. Anyways the main reason I decided to watch this is to watch the sequel that just came out. That's quite an opening. That's a pretty cool gun! Aw young Yancy Butler is adorable. Looks like she has always been sort of a cheesy actress though. Yep that's de” read more

Indeed, you can say whatever you want about him but he is in fact the one that managed to convince John Woo to finally come to Hollywood. Eventually, the whole thing was not really a picnic for Woo since he barely spoke English at the time and, apparently,  Van Damme ended butchering his movie because it was not focusing enough on him but, even so, it was still pretty entertaining in my opinion. Indeed, as expect” read more
