" As a fan of the Dollars Trilogy, I was at first a little dsiappointed at the softness of Eastwood's character in this film. For a story called "Hang 'Em High", I think I was expecting a more of a Man With No Name type of gunslinger, who went sought justice with a much more gritty and dusty sense of vengeance. However, after I read an interview in which Clint stated that the reason he cjose to do Hang "em was to move away from the hard edged archetype established by the Leone westerns, I decid"
" As I've mentioned in other entries, it was the spaghetti western that first got me interested in watching cowboys movies. Particularly, Sergio Leone's Dollar Trilogy, featuring Cling Eastwood as the "Man With No Name". Unfortunately, since it was that Man's "grey hat" attitude that I thought was the most interesting aspect of those movies, I was at first a little disappointed at the softness of Eastwood's character in this film. “Since I have always had a weak spot for Clint Eastwood, I was quite eager to check this flick. Apparently, it was another Western he made just a couple of years after the Dollar trilogy. Eventually, it turned out to be a decent watch but not much more than that, I'm afraid. I think the introduction was the best part. Indeed, right from the start, you get to see the main character hanging for something he didn't commit and you wonder what might happen after that. I mean, it is not very often that you get to see Eastwood on the other side of the law, especially in a Western, but, unfortunately, he got of the hook fairly easily and the rest of the movie was rather typical and predictable. Clint Eastwood basically played his typical tough no-nonsense cowboy which was ok but the movie did” read more
