" It's Christmas time and there's only one thing on Ralphie Parker's Christmas list this year: a Red Ryder Carbine Action 200-Shot, Range Model Air Rifle, but many obstacles stand in the way of his dream because every adult that he confronts keeps telling him he'll shoot his eye out. Meanwhile The Old Man just got a major award (a lamp shaped like a woman's leg), and Mom is making sure The Old Man doesn't come near her turkey, Ralphie's friend gets his tongue stuck to a flag pole, and Ralphie "

"Pros: The attention to detail in the film. Peter Billingsley as Ralphie Parker. Ralphie’s father. It’s a classic Christmas movie. Plenty of memorable moments. The narration. The nostalgia factor. Con: Some moments in the film, aged better than others."

"Rewatch Plot: In the 1940s, a young boy named Ralphie Parker attempts to convince his parents, teacher, and Santa Claus that a Red Ryder Range 200 Shot BB gun really is the perfect Christmas gift. I've never really taken to A Christmas Story, and I was hoping this rewatch (in preparation for watching the sequel) would finally give me clarity on why everyone loves this one so much. Even with the benefit of a gorgeous 4K HDR remaster, and even as a 31-year-old bloke now with more insight into th"
“What a wonderful movie! I didn't realise Bob Clark had a movie in him like this. In fact I had to double check that it was Bob Clark who directed this, because while Black Christmas was good, he also did the atrocious Baby Geniuses movies and the lacklustre Rhinestone. Here in A Christmas Story though, this is not only the best I've seen Clark direct but I think it is his best film too.
I love Christmas movies, and while A Christmas Story is not my absolute favourite, I think it fully deserves its title as timeless Christmas treasure. The film looks great with the cinematography skillful and the locations striking. The script is always witty and insightful, I loved the home truths and the lack of smut and saccharin which may have marred the film slightly if included. The story is” read more
"Here's a story of Christmas that has become such a staple on the television during the Yuletide season, that I wonder if I really should waste any time to describe it. Everybody by now (and when I say everybody, that includes you.... yeah, you.... the person reading this) knows the story of Ralphie and his journey towards becoming the surest sure-shot and deadliest deadshot that ever sent Black Bart and any other forms of insensate evil towards pushin' up daisies. Lemme tell you guys someth"

“Since this movie is a classic, I was quite eager to check it out. To be honest, I’m not a huge fan of such Christmas flicks but I have to admit that this one was not bad at all. There has been some discussion about when the damned thing was actually taking place and I was myself struggling to figure it out but, apparently, it took place at some point in the 40’s. Well, the US audience has always been so fond about looking back on how everything was great back then in the 40’s-50’s-60’s but, to be honest, it’s not a fascination/obsession that I really share with them. Anyway, the damned thing didn’t really have a real plot, it was more a succession of small stories/anecdotes involving the main character and it was, as a result, rather episodic. Anyway, as far as I was concerne” read more
