A solid movie from start to finish where an Amish boy witnesses a murder in the big city .. and higher-ups don't want this crime solved.

My favourite part was the ending. A man and a woman may have gone through something stressful and significant .. and even like each other. But that won't bridge the huge gap in their lives (a big-city cop and an Amish woman). They recognize this ... read more

Back in the 80's, Harrison Ford completely ruled and literally all his movies were either huge financial success and/or critically acclaimed (as a matter of fact, between 1980 and 1983, 4 years in a row, a movie starring Harrison Ford was voted best movie of the year in Imdb!) Description: Australian Peter Weir's first Hollywood film tells the story of John Book (Harrison Ford), a Philadelphia cop whose life is altered while trying to help Rachel (Kelly McGillis), an Amish woman, and her son Samuel (Lukas Haas), who witnesses a murder in a Philadelphia train station bathroom. "I first saw this one in secondary school, in a hall with really bad acoustics, so that certainly didn't help. Now, to its credit, I can understand why it won an Oscar for Best Screenplay: it's a simple but theoretically effective fish-out-of-water story. But what really kills it for me is the performance.
