"You know, if I were a Negro, I'd probably think the same way they do.
"If you were a Negro, nobody would give a damn what you thought."

This was a fantastic movie to start the month with. It has realy great acting, well-written dialogue and it's very disturbing at times and what really makes it disturbing is the fact that this actually happened. I loved this movie and it's one of my favorite Gene Hackman movies.

Wow, this was a very dark turn for this franchise. Usually movie sequels that try to be darker than the original are usually destined to fail, but this one still manages to be dark while still being able to not get too dark to the point where the movie isn't fun to watch. This movie has a lot of great action scenes, some very good character development and this is the only movie in this series that truly lives up to the original.

"Are you proud of what you did? Or maybe you don't want to forget."
"Sometimes things become part of you, whether you want them to or not."

This had the potential to be a good movie, but the execution of the movie was very poor. The main problem with this movie is John Travolta's acting. He tries to pull off a Serbian accent, but it sounds so terrible and it would've been better if they gotten either an actual Serbian to play the role or an actor that can pull off that kind of accent. Robert De Niro on the other hand was decent and he showed interest in his role, but he just can't save this movie. The movie also tries to hard to be disturbing, but it isn't because the directing is shitty and the characters aren't developed enough for it to work. I also really hated the overuse of that one Johnny Cash song "Don't Take Your Guns To Town." We get it, Johnny Cash is awesome! No need to over-glorify him by playing his song three fucking times. This could've been a good movie, but it is ruined by the uninspired writing, John Travolta's acting and the lackluster directing.

"If you think that this war isn't changing you you're wrong. You can only circle the flames so long."

This movie definitely lived up to the hype. Now I'd like to start this off by saying that I'm not a fan of Bradley Cooper. While he was pretty good in The Place Beyond the Pines, I thought he was underwhelming in Silver Linings Playbook and in his comedy roles he just plays the same character and that same character isn't even a good one. However in this movie, I kept forgetting that this guy was Bradley Cooper. He was that good! The way this movie told this guy's story was great, it had some great acting from other people in the cast too and the ending I didn't see coming at all. Also Clint Eastwood does a fantastic job directing this movie and I'd put it in the same league as his other great films he's directed like Gran Torino and Unforgiven. While it's not technically a perfect movie as it does drag on a little at times, but this movie was so great that I could overlook it's flaws and was able to give it a perfect score and I can't remember the last time I did that with a movie. It's a great movie and it's really worth seeing if you haven't already done so.

Ahh, SpongeBob. That was the show that defined my childhood. The characters were unique, the stories were great and the humor was very clever especially for a kid's show. Hell, sometimes I enjoy watching this show now even more than I did as a kid because of how some of the jokes went over my head back then. Like most people, I thought the show went downhill after the first movie came out. The characters started to change, it started to rely on not-so-clever jokes and gross-out humor and the majority of special episodes were nothing but ratings traps. Season 4 was passable, season 5 was mediocre, season 6 is a mixed bag, season 7 was atrocious and seasons 8-9 is pretty much a renaissance. They're nowhere near as good as seasons 1-3, but they're still good and the bad episodes are easily outweighed by the good ones.

So how good is this movie? I think this is the closest thing we'll ever get to the old SpongeBob episodes. First of all, I haven't laughed this hard at a movie in quite a while. While it does have a couple instances of toilet humor, most of it is reminiscent to the humor of the classic SpongeBob episodes. Also everyone was in character which is another positive with this movie. It's also a breath of fresh air to see that most of this movie is traditionally animated which is something you rarely see. It's not perfect by any means as there are a couple jokes that miss and the rap song at the end wasn't very good, but it's still a great comedy that really made me laugh and I would even say it's better than the first movie.

"This is what I do; if some idiot with a sledgehammer could break in, do you really think I'd still have a job?"

Not David Fincher's best work, but I still found myself enjoying it more than Seven and Zodiac which just aren't as good as everyone says. It's a very-well made thriller that has this claustrophobic feeling and this movie proves again why David Fincher is so good at making thrillers. Like I said it's not his Fincher's best, but it's one of his more underrated films.

This is nowhere near as great as the first one, but it's still pretty entertaining. Just like the first one the effects are great and still hold up to this day and it has a lot of interesting ideas.

Aromatic: it must wonderful to wake up in the morning and smell the coffee... in Brazil. Appreciative: Oooh, how original! Most people just have their teeth capped."

This was a pretty underrated comedy. It has an unusual comedic premise, but it's done very well and Steve Martin showed that back then he was one of the funniest comedians ever. Now he works on family friendly crap and isn't as funny as he used to be, but still his classic comedy movies are just as funny now as they were back then.

"What's "Forget about it"?"
"Forget about it" is, like, if you agree with someone, you know, like "Raquel Welch is one great piece of ass. Forget about it!" But then, if you disagree, like "A Lincoln is better than a Cadillac? Forget about it!" You know? But then, it's also like if something's the greatest thing in the world, like, "Minghia! Those peppers! Forget about it!" But it's also like saying "Go to hell!" too. Like, you know, like "Hey Paulie, you got a one-inch pecker?" and Paulie says "Forget about it!" Sometimes it just means "Forget about it."

While I do think the movie could've been slightly better, it's still a pretty good movie with some well-written dialogue and great acting from Johnny Depp and Al Pacino. Like I said I still feel like it could've been better even though I really enjoyed this movie, but it's still pretty good the way it is.

"Life has a gap in it. It just does. You don't go crazy trying to fill it like some lunatic."

This was a very solid movie. It had really great acting especially from actors who normally star in comedies like Seth Rogen and Sarah Silverman who steals every scene she's in. Michelle Williams however is the real star in this movie as she just really dissapears into her character. I also really liked how this movie dealt with it's subject matter and the drama in this movie does feel genuine. It also does have some very good comic relief to make itself less depressing at times. It's not a great movie although it comes close at times and if you've seen this movie then you'll probably be fine with Seth Rogen starring as Steve Wozniak in the new Steve Jobs movie. While I'm on the subject of the Steve Jobs movie, it's funny that they're making an actual movie on him and just pretending that the Ashton Kutcher movie didn't happen.

"GET OFF MY PLANE!"

Why the hell didn't I see this movie earlier? This is one of those films that I feel like I should've seen much earlier, but whatever. This is a really fun action movie that never takes itself too seriously. Harrison Ford is perfectly casted as the leading role, but Gary Oldman steals the show as the villain. This movie shows his talent as an actor because even when he hams it up in a role like this he's still pulls it off flawlessly. While the movie is entertaining on it's own, he plays a huge part in what makes this movie so fun.

"You know, I once read an interesting book which said that, uh, most people lost in the wilds, they, they die of shame."
"What?"
"Yeah, see, they die of shame. "What did I do wrong? How could I have gotten myself into this?" And so they sit there and they... die. Because they didn't do the one thing that would save their lives."
"And what is that, Charles?"
"Thinking."

This is a movie I have really been wanting to see for about 3 years and today I finally got around to seeing it. This movie was exactly what I was expecting it to be, which is a really intense thrill-ride with really strong character development and really well-written dialogue. I just really liked how David Mamet wrote this movie and Anthony Hopkins is great as usual. Also Alec Baldwin's performance was great and he was an actor who I used to think was overrated as a whole, but this movie made me realize that he was actually a pretty good actor in the 90's. In the 2000's though he just started to think that he's hot shit and it started to affect the quality of his acting. He's just not a good person in real life and now he's just a washed up has-been. Enough about him though. This is just a really suspenseful movie and the character development plays a huge part in it which I really liked. It was also very cool that they were able to get a real bear for this movie instead of some poorly-done CGI which is another reason why this movie works so well. It falls short of being a masterpiece, but it comes close at times and it's just overall a really well-done thriller that I'm glad I finally saw.

"I mean, what the hell's the point of being a decent person when no-one is? Let's be assholes and get rich!"

Unfortunately, this isn't as good as I hoped it would be. This movie did have its share of funny moments, but some of the jokes were just stupid and not really funny and it could've been so much better considering the comedic premise and that Danny DeVito is in it. Also Bette Milder who was Danny DeVito's wife in the movie was just very annoying and not very funny. This is just a forgettable comedy which is a shame because it could've been a comedy classic.

This is a very ridiculous action movie, but I still had some fun with it. While Dolph Lundgren usually isn't that good of an action star, he's not bad in this one and he does have some decent one-liners. It's far from being a great movie, but I liked it and it's nowhere near as bad as the IMDB rating would suggest.

This is one of the funniest and one of the most clever comedies I have seen in a long time. It's quite rare for a comedy to reach this level of perfection and it just does everything right. The majority of the jokes it bullseyes and I thought the overall movie was funnier than Shaun of the Dead and that movie was very hilarious too. This movie shows that Simon Pegg and Nick Frost really make a great team when it comes to comedy and while I was disappointed by The World's End and considering that I really enjoyed the other 3 movies they were in (4 if you count The Adventures of Tintin, which I don't because they weren't in it for that long.) one so-so movie doesn't change anything. Not only did a lot of the jokes make me laugh very hard, but it also does have an engaging mystery plot and it was executed so well. It also pokes fun at all the cliches of action movies and police films and it's just an overall great parody of the genre. While spoof movies these days aren't very good, this is one of the few exceptions of a modern spoof movie done right.

This is why I'm glad that video stores are still doing marginally well in my local area because I think they are a good way to find hidden gems like this movie. It had a really creative plot, lots of interesting ideas and the acting is good despite some of it being dated for todays standards. I was really surprised by Michael Dougla's supporting role in this movie though. Apparently, even very early in his career he was just as good of an actor as he is today. It's a very good movie and it's a very well-done thriller overall.

"You're a faggot dude. 100%. Don't talk to me anymore okay. I fuck bitches. You're a homo."

This really had potential to be a good movie as I felt like it could've been made into a good movie, but the writing of this movie keeps it from being good and an example of this is the dialogue. See that line I quoted, that is one of the examples of this really awkward and clumsy dialogue. The characters in this movie are shallow and they don't give to much of a reason to care about them. As for the acting in this movie is a mixed bag. Justin Timberlake isn't very good, Ben Foster wasn't bad, but he was comically over the top at times, Emile Hirsch does a good job with the material he's given and Bruce Willis should've been in the movie more as he gave the best performance in the whole movie. Also there's this one scene in this movie that I really need to address. It's this scene at a party where a fight happens and instead of portraying it realistically like having a few people trying to break them up and at least have someone punch him back, it has Ben Foster taking out multiple guys like he's Jason Statham. I'm not kidding, that's what actually happens. It was just so out of place and so unrealistic that it made me laugh. Now I don't hate this movie as there were some things in this movie that worked, but in the end it could've been a much better movie.

This was a pretty good movie. It is far from your typical Jet Li movie as it actually does have a good story to it and the characters do have a hint of depth to them. Bob Hoskins as the antagonist and Morgan Freeman as the blind man both make this movie, but Jet Li was also good too. It does rely on story a little too much though and it could've had a little more action, but it's still a highly enjoyable movie.

"You have to appreciate the irony. After all these years of being locked up, I'm given the opportunity to kill again. A cops kid too, and all I have to do is sit right here."

This movie starts off very slow and while it does pick up a little 30 minutes in, it doesn't get that much better. While it is entertaining at times, it never is entertaining as it should be especially with it's scenario. The main problem with this movie is just it never makes up it's mind with what it wants to be. It wants to be a mix of action, thriller, drama and crime, but it doesn't work very well. Andy Garcia and Michael Keaton do a decent job with the material they are given and it's really not a bad movie, but it's just a movie that doesn't show it's full purpose or reason for being made. It's just there. I don't regret watching this one, but it's nothing I'm going to remember anytime soon.

"How many days are in April?"
"30 days have September, all the rest I can't remember."
"Must be 31 because nothing rhymes with August."
"Nah I think it's 32 Harry. April's a leap month."

Surprisingly, this was better than I thought it was going to be. Now I can understand why this movie has gotten negative reviews as the humor in this movie is much different in this movie, but it was still funny. Harry and Lloyd haven't changed much in this movie which isn't a bad thing and even though this movie relies on gross-out humor more than the first one did, I thought it was more funny than it was disgusting which is something other gross-out comedies usually fail to do. The biggest problem I have with this movie is that it has that cliche third act where the drama starts and the laughs in the movie are less and less frequent. I hate it when movies do that because we see these kind of movies for the laughs and not for some needlessly shoved in drama. Because of that the movie looses steam a bit because of it, but it doesn't really ruin the movie for me. I really do understand the dissapointment for this movie as it's pretty damn near impossible for them to make a sequel that lives up to the original, but they made a decent effort at it and it's nowhere near as bad as it could've been.

This may come as a surprise to nobody, but I'm not a fan of sports movies. While there definitely are good sports movies, I'm not a fan of sports in general and they just aren't the kind of movies I watch often especially if it's about a sport I find so boring like football or baseball. However, even if you're not a fan of sports movies like I am it's hard not to be charmed by this movie. It has a compelling story, some really good characters and it was really funny at times. This is one of the more smarter action movies to come out in quite a while. It's got some great acting, some very funny lines, some really good dialogue and some awesome action scenes. I was just really interested in the direction went in and there aren't that many action scenes in between which really made them worth waiting for. While I was watching this movie that I was thinking that I was thinking about how a sequel to it could work, but ONLY if Matthew Vaughn is writing and directing it as we don't want a repeat of Kick-Ass 2. "Whoever stole that tape knows the meaning of 88 minutes."

I watched this movie because of Al Pacino and even that wasn't a good enough reason to watch this. Now this is nowhere near as terrible as Jon Avnet's other Al Pacino film Righteous Kill, but it still isn't any good. While Al Pacino does deliver a decent performance and the dialogue isn't too bad, the plot is just unoriginal and has been done before. The best example is Nick of Time which I haven't seen, but I'm assuming that plot was done better in that movie. Another problem I have with this movie is that it doesn't feel like an actual movie and it feels more like something you'd watch in the background while doing something else and you could still follow what's going on in this movie. That's how by the numbers the plot is executed. It's not really a bad movie, but it's just not very interesting and it's a movie I literally forgot about right after watching it.

"Well Bob, at summer's end I plan on moving to New York where I'll pursue a career as a serious actress. It's my goal to entertain the world through artistic expression. Through art I shall serve my country."

Now I actually have read the book this movie is based on a couple years ago and I will just put this out there right now, it wasn't any good. It was dully written, the characters weren't well-developed and it was just a chore to get through. It wasn't terrible though and it did have some interesting moments, but as a whole it just wasn't a good book. I decided to finally check out the movie to see how it compares to the book. I'm afraid it's no better than the book. Hell, I don't even have to say much as all of my criticisms of the book apply to this movie. Now the style of this movie is much different from the book as it wasn't a straight-up slasher and more of a suspense story, while this is just a generic slasher film. Now like the book this one does have it's interesting moments, but it's not scary like the movie wants to be. "If you ever want something badly, let it go. If it comes back to you, then it's yours forever. If it doesn't, then it was never yours to begin with."

This movie was just ridiculous and the movie gives itself away how awful it is about 5 minutes in when Demi Moore's character is pissed about how her husband makes a lot of messes around the house and she has to clean them up. She impressively cleans everything up in the course of 25-30 seconds and then she throws stuff at him, yells, chases him, slaps him, laughs because she thinks what she did was funny, tells her husband that she loves him and then has sex with him. OK, what was her motivation for any of this? She must has mental problems or something as I'm pretty sure no normal woman does this stuff. Anyways this movie is just awful. Demi Moore's acting is really bad and Woody Harrelson delivers the worst performance of his career. It's so bad that it makes his role in Semi-Pro look Oscar-worthy. Also the plot is really ridiculous. The idea of a woman agreeing to have sex with a man for a million dollars is one of the worst premises I've seen for a movie as it's just ridiculous and implausible. The worst thing about it though is that I don't even think we see them doing it. All we see is Demi Moore telling her husband that she did it and I was all like "You mean you didn't even show it? What a tease!" Thats like making a movie where the plot revolves around a guy planning to blow up Mount Everest and not even showing the explosion for it. I mean I'm not trying to sound like a pervert or anything, but if you're going to make a movie about a woman agreeing to have sex with a rich man for a million dollars then at least show them having sex.

Really the only thing that saves me from giving this movie the lowest score is Robert Redford's performance. See this is why I think he's a great actor because even when he's in movies that aren't so good, he can still give a very good performance. Anyways this is just a really bad movie that really doesn't have anything interesting to offer and it's just as terrible today as it was back then.

"Happy?"
"Seventy-four casualties, an apartment block leveled, one dead terrorist? Yeah, happy."
"We have some fucked up barometer for success, don't we?"

It's an entertaining movie and Robert Redford and Brad Pitt were both very good in this movie, but in the end it's your typical spy movie and it's nothing really more than that. It's kind of lacking in suspense and the whole movie could've been better as the movie is nowhere near as good as the actors in this movie. It's a decent watch, but I won't remember much of it in one week.

"That's murder they're talking about in there. And if they condone it, how are you gonna turn around and tell these guys why they're locked up?"

This is a pretty underrated movie. It has this plot that while I wouldn't say it's original, it's the kind that hasn't been in too many movies and it's done very well. It's got some very good dialogue, great acting and I just loved the overall direction this movie took. It's a great movie and it's far from your typical prison movie.

"You're the Democratic nominee!"
"You make it sound like a death sentence."

This is the second movie with Robert Redford I've seen that involves politics and I have to say that I enjoyed this much more than All The Presidents Men. This movie actually takes something boring like politics and makes it look interesting. It's also very funny at times and the satire for this movie is pretty dead-on. It's another one of Redford's unfairly overlooked movies and it's definitely a movie more people should see.

"Wind's right, but he'll just run soon as we step out of these trees."
"Trick to it. Walk out on this side of your horse."
"What if he sees our feet?"
"Elk don't know how many feet a horse has!"

This was a fantastic movie. It had a simple, yet fascinating story, Robert Redford delivers an amazing perfomance and plays a great character, the cinematography was amazing and it was overall a beautiful movie. I loved this movie so much that I had the urge to add it to my DVD collection as soon as it was done. That's how good it was.

Thanks to the giraffe for putting this one on my radar as it was a classic movie. The weird thing is though that this is a movie that you'd think would be considered a classic movie by now, but it isn't as not a lot of people have seen it and it didn't get the best of reviews from critics. It's too bad as it was a very good romance story for its time and it also has good acting and part of the script was written by Francis Ford Coppola and after seeing this movie I could tell that this is the kind of movie that he would write. It's overall a pretty good movie and it's easily a classic in my book.

"Kid, there's something I ought to tell you. I never shot anybody before."
"One hell of a time to tell me!"

You didn't think I was just going to end the month without seeing this movie, did you?

This movie was just as great as everyone has been saying especially people I know in real life that have told me this movie is great. I'm not going to go too into detail with this one as chances are you already know how good this movie is and everything has probably been said already, but I'll just say that Paul Newman and Robert Redford made a great team when it comes to movies and their characters and the chemistry between them is what made this movie great. Every scene in this movie was nothing short of fantastic and overall there wasn't anything I didn't like about this movie. I loved every minute of it and it's even better than The Sting.

"That's the problem with heartbreak, to you it's like an atomic bomb and to the world it's just really cliche because in the end we all have the same experience."

This was a pretty boring movie. There isn't much happening in this movie, but at least it had something to offer unlike those other "nothing of substance happening" movies that I despise. At least this one does have believable acting and it did like some of what this movie had to say. The problem is that these characters felt like typical every-day people that I just didn't get to know enough to care about them. Also for a movie that's part comedy there were maybe a couple lines in the movie I found funny while the rest made me wonder what was so damn funny that had the characters laughing. I think the main problem with me and this movie is that I don't drink and I never will, so I just couldn't relate to this movie. There are a few decent moments in this movie, but it's overshadowed by the rest of this movie which was just tedious and boring. It's clearly not for everyone and your enjoyment of this movie will vary. It's worth giving a try, but be warned.

This was an odd and unusual movie, but I enjoyed it. It had a decent story, some good characters and I just like what this movie had to say. I wasn't highly impressed with this movie, but it's still a good movie.

"Look, if you bought Stones tickets and Jagger didn't play Satisfaction, how would you feel? Would you be happy?"
"No."
"No! You'd burn the place to the fucking ground."

I've actually been wanting to seeing this movie prior to it being on Netflix, but since it's on there now I decided to finally see it. It's a really well-done movie with lots of funny lines and the father and son relationship in the movie felt real. I especially have to give props to the child actor in this movie as the way he reacts to stuff in this movie is exactly how a real child would've reacted to in that situation like that one scene where his father wants him to clean up something instead of throwing it away. This was overall a very funny movie that's also realistic and I just liked the overall plot of the movie. It's not perfect as it has a couple problems. It was mainly the ending being abrupt which I just thought the place it ended at just didn't feel right, but other than that I loved this movie and it's another reason why 2014 was such a good year for movies.
