I watched this movie a few times growing up. I loved seeing Pippi's silly antics and interesting ways of looking at things (like that game where you can't touch the floor, I did that). Also, her horse, Little Old Man, is pretty awesome.

In middle school there was an alien obsession. This movie along with the X-files and other shows help spark this interest. I enjoyed Independence Day and it was one of the movies I watched more than I can remember. One of the things I remember best is how much I enjoyed the characters. It is a character driven movie and part of it led to my enjoyment of it. It also helped along my interest in the paranormal (but not aliens).

This is still one of my favorite animated movie even years later. It also helped to launch my love of dinosaurs. I just love this movie, period. Don Bluth for the win!

The opening scene did it for me. I remember watching the movie just for the opening sequence in which the viewer is flung through the australian outback and into the yard of our leading human. While I wasn't so crazy about the original movie, I adored this movie and still do. I loved the characters and thought Jack was awesome (though a meanie) and Bianaca and Bernard were too cute. An amazing adventure with quite the cast along for the ride.

This is one of my all time favorite movies. I loved it when I was little and to this day its one movie I can watch repeatedly and never get tired of.
Yokihana's rating:
I watched this one several times growing up. It was a touching film for a younger me and one I haven't seen as an adult. I love the characters in the film, with shadow being my favorite. Oddly I don't remember a lot about this movie except enjoying it and watching it a lot. Maybe a rewatch is in order.

The sequel to one of my favorite movies. I remember loving the first part of the film when Marty goes to the future and not really liking the fact he goes back to the 50s for some reason. Still, another high like and film I still adore as an adult. Also, hoverboards are awesome!

I watched this several times growing up (in part because my brother enjoyed it) and it is a cute movie. I enjoyed all the characters (except Darlene, I thought she was a brat, well they all are). Twas a nice film, but one I can't seem to get through as an adult.

This was and continues to be an animated film that has a special place for me. It's based off a true story too and its a film that will pull on you. Growing up I had a fondness for several movies featuring dogs and this is one of them. The sequels aren't too awful either.

Yokihana's rating:
I loved and still love the Tiny Toons. While I never really got into their adult inspirations, this was one of my favorites growing up. The movie was one I watched over and over because I just couldn't get enough of Buster and Babs (come on, we know you two love eachother, even as a kid I saw that!) Plucky's misadventure and all the other incidents. Now to watch it as an adult.

This is a movie I've seen one too many times. It's not a horrible film, but it always felt dry to me and a rip-off of Charlottes Web (which I love). I even distinctly remember in 5th grade being bored watching it.

Twister (1996)
An overshown movie growing up. My mom has an obession with natural disasters so we watched it. At school, it became one of the popular films to show when teachers wanted a free day/had nothing to do/testing was done. It's not a bad film, but there was a point when I was litle that I memorized the lines because I had seen it, unwillingly, too much.

It Takes Two (1995)
Ah the Olsen twins. Growing up, I saw them a lot in Full House, the Mary Kate and Ashley videos (brother loved them) and a few of their movies, most notably It Takes Two. It's a cute film, albeit an average one. As a child it bothered me and it still does, but what is with the children working in a junkyard? I mean, did the neighbors think it was ok...why wasn't it reported? Really.

I loved this movie as a child. I loved the idea of having toys come to life and being able to hangout and talk to them. It was a powerful film too because I was the same age as the main character and we were studying Indians in school. Actually, I had a student not too long ago reading the book and it brought back some good memories.

Yokihana's rating:
I adored this movie growing up, I even brought it in to show in second grade when we were studying penguins. It was cute, entertaining, held a great cast of characters, and was just an all around great film. It's a sadder film in parts (no spoilers), but one that is a definate watch for animation fans. I also learned a few years ago its an anime. I feel like a dork for showing anime in class at 8 years old.

Pete's Dragon (1977)
I loved this movie growing up, in particular because it blended real life with animation (a love of my childhood). I loved the dragon and I watched it just to see his interactions with the world around him. It also helped spawn my love for dragons. I need to rewatch this one.

Yokihana's rating:
This is one of my all-time favorite animations. I recently rewatched it and preceeded to watch it again. Some movies never age. Side thoughts; Webby's wish for her animals being real worried me as a kid because I always feared it would happen and here it did! Also, the ice cream sundae wish I am quite jealous of.

This is one of my favorite movies. Growing up, I watched this movie almost religiously and I never grew tired. I had a love for animal movies growing up and Charlie still has a special place for me as a character. As I write this "You Can't Keep a Good Dog Down" just popped into my head. Some films have that special flair and stay with you.

Fantasia (1941)
It's Fantastia, enough said. I loved the stories and music and I remember rewatching several in particular. At one point, my best friend and I named characters and made stories from them, we were that obessed with it. The devil still scares me though *shutter*

Like most little girls, I had an obession with Disney, especially Disney princesses. Ariel was probably my favorite and I sang "Part of Your World" quite often. It's a beautiful film with amazing music, a great storyline and it has something we can all learn from.

Yokihana's rating:
This is a film that as a child didn't grab me as much as it does as an adult (I have watched it back to back, which says how much I do love it). It's a masterpiece, plain and simple. But one you have to be an adult to completely understand. Also, is it just me or did anyone else like the Beast as a Beast a lot more? Oh and that transformation scene, as a kid it made me swell with happy tears and I have yet to watch it without. *sigh*

This is another film that got watched a lot for me as a little girl. The sad thing was I never really liked it that much, but it was a film my brother did so we watched it together. I did always feel for the dad though.

Ghostbusters (1984)
Growing up, everyone loved Ghostbusters. I remember my music teacher banning the song because it got played so much. This is a tie for my favorite movie with Beauty and the Beast. I love all the characters, but Peter was my favorite for his cynism and whit. This needs a rewatch soon.

I loved this film growing up along with its sequel. My aunt had/has a giant stuffed fievel so I would always bring him out and watch away! I adored fifel and really felt for him after he lost his parents and struggled to find them. Two side thoughts;

The museum at the end-ok, it's creepy, but where can I find something like that?

Some films lose their spark when you watch them as an adult. For me, this was one of those :(

Aladdin (1992)
I can still remember first hearing about Aladdin when I watched Beauty and the Beast and loving it. This is a personal favorite and one I never get tired of. I wanted to be Jasmine, I LOVED the music and often rewound the tape again and again to hear songs like "Prince Ali". Oh and Genie was amazing, plus he was voiced by my favorite voice actor ;)

Yokihana's rating:
Batman was one of my favorite superheroes gorwing up, if not my favorite. He had something to him that was different from superman or spider-man. This film is fairly dark by kids movie standards and it disturbed me in some ways (the joker is a pyscho!) Wow, until now I'd forgotten how dark it was. A great film, but dark.

Yokihana's rating:

With Batman: Mask of the Phantasm done, let's go to something more light-hearted, like Care Bears. Wait, this is the one with the book, it was kind of creepy too. Still, a fairly solid film, but I liked the sequel better. I loved the Care Bears growing up and still do (I collect 'em). I still have my banged up VHS tape even, which shows my love for it back in the day.

Yokihana's rating:
I can still remember when my mom got this for my brother and I. This is a movie my brother and I share a lot of memories with. I remember plenty of summer days and afternoons watching this and us laughing over the scene where Genie is Pochantas jumping from an airplane (it's dumb now, but back then it was hilarious). I loved this movie, but the storyline inconsistency still bugs me.

Yokihana's rating:
I wasn't a fan of the wild west (even as an adult), but there was something about Fievel going west. I loved the characters and that we got to know Fievels family better in this film. A fun film and a memorable experience.

Growing up I adored this movie. I don't like baseball, but this film shone over that. It was one of the few films we were shown in school over and over that I always looked forward to. It's a hilarious movie and Christopher Lloyd, one of my favorite actors, is in it. Enough said :)

Yokihana's rating:
My mom took my brother and I to see this when it first came out. It's a decent film and it also spawned my love for Mewtwo. We were caught up in the Pokemon craze and this just fueled the fire.

Yokihana's rating:
A personal favorite as a child and adult. This was another animation mixed with live action film and I loved it. It was funny, whitty, had an amazing cast of characters and for someone growing up at the time, it had pretty much all my favorite cartoon characters.

Yokihana's rating:
Growing up, there are three things girls obessess over; cute and happy things, princesses and horses. Well, Rainbow Brite has all three. I remember wishing I could be Rainbow Brite, if only for her horse, Starlight and to ride in style on a rainbow. This is a really good series and its a shame its out of print/not printed. Come on Warner!

Casper (1995)
My brother adored this movie growing up, so it was often a movie he picked when it was his turn. It's not the worst film (kudos to throwing in the Ghostbusters scene). But, it is a darker and sadder film. How casper died, the whole death theme. I'd forgotten how dark some of the movies were.

I remember the first time I saw this in second grade...I cried in class. It's a sad film in some ways (main character does lose her parents who didn't really care about her). But, its a story of growth and finding in yourself the ability to save another. It's a sadder, but powerful film that continues to live on into adulthood.

Conquer it, or it will conquer you! I loved this movie so much I begged my grandmother for the game (which my brother and I played almost as much as we watched the movie). It was an adventure and one of struggle in all the characters. But, in the end...well no spoilers here ;)

I remember coming home one day after school to find my brother watching a new movie my grandmother had just bought. That movie was Toy Story. This was another film, like Jumanji, we went crazy over. We both ended up with a huge Buzz lightyear doll and I had a woody, then we got the computer game and you get the picture. Amazing film (as well as its sequels!)

I grew up loving the Flinstones cartoon so when the liveaction film came out we had to watch it. It's a decent film for what it is. It was neat, just like in the cartoon, to see 'how a caveman' would do things we normally do like wash dishes, drive etc.
Yokihana's rating:
Macaulay was a household name growing up having held several successes including the Home Alone movies. I loved and continue to love this movie. We see a few problems continue, but Kevin is wiser and witter than ever.

Space Jam (1996)
This was an awesome movie growing up. It had basketball (which I played back then), Michael Jordan and Bugs Bunny and the gang. There were plenty of funny scenes and the story (while slightly dark), was pretty solid. I think I watched it one too many times as now I can't see the appeal I had when I was little.

Snow Day (2000)
While most of the movies I saw growing up were well loved, there was one film that I remember soley for not liking. Even as a kid, I thought this movie was dumb, boring and the plow driver a reason to wince. My brother loved it, so I watched it with him, but never again!

I remember when Pocahontas came into theater it timed itself just as we were learning about the pilgrims and Indians in school. I had an obession with Pochantas growing up, as did several other friends. We wanted to be Pochantas and sang "Colors of the Wind" obsessively. I even still have the toys somewhere and my fondness for Pochantas has never died. I still sing Colors of the Wind even.

Richie Rich (1994)
Another Macaulay movie I loved. Who wouldn't want to be friends with Richie Rich? Not only was he a cool kid, but he had a lot of stuff too. I remember that as much as I liked Richie, it was his Butler Herb who I loved. Oh, Herb.

Being a bookworm as a child (which only grew as I got older), The Pagemaster was the perfect movie. It was cool to see the different stories come to life such as Moby Dick and Gulleivers travels and I enjoyed finding little segments of stories I loved. For the young bookworm, this was THE film.

The Lion King (1994)
The Lion King was one of the rare films I got to see in theaters. I can still remember the advertisements that went on, sitting in the theater and falling in love with the songs and characters...and closing my eyes during the scene where scar and Simba fight. I really got into this movie and got quite a few toys, stuffed animals, bedding and clothes with the Lion King. It still holds a special place for me, as evidenced by the giant 4ft stuffed simba and Nala I have.

The sequel to one of my favorite movies! I loved this movie, but some things bugged me. I thought Simba was different, the fact there were lions that agreed with Scar baffles me to this day and who WAS Kovu's father? I felt this movie created plot holes, but I still loved it.

Hercules (1997)
I LOVE Hercules. I can still remember the first time I heard about Hercules. I was on a trip to Louisiana and the ad popped on showing the scene where Hercules talks to Zeus about being a real hero. Granted its not as good as other Disney films and sometimes I wanted more, it's based on Greek legends. Growing up I had a fascination with Greek and Egyptian culture and this only helped spawn it. Plus, the song "Won't say I'm in love" is pretty awesome.

Home Alone (1990)
Growing up, Macaulay was a household name. Home Alone is a movie that still merits a 'at least once a year' watch for me and with good reason. Kevin is a brat, but you understand why he is (talk about a dysfunctional family). As a kid watching this movie, I remember thinking "wow, doing all that on your own?" When he faces off against the bad guys after rigging his house, I couldn't help but think "awesome!" and my silly 4 year old self took it to heart and strung string all over my room. Oh, it kept out my parents, but created a mess and a grounding.

Watching this movie as an adult, it changes a bit. I still feel bad for Kevin and sympathize for him. I'm still amazed that an eight year old did all he did and some things make more sense (as often happens when you watch a movie later as an adult). Bottom line, amazing movie and possibly one of the movies that affected me the most growing up.

Hook (1991)
I stayed with my maternal grandmother as a child a lot. She didn't have a lot of movies, but one she had was Hook. It wasn't enough to have it at home, but I enjoyed watching it at her house too. I loved the story, got scared at parts (RUFIO!), but just loved the color and life. Oh and it had my favorite actor ;) I loved the imaginary food scene, the training and then when Peter finally becomes Pan again..! I will say that Peter's story of how he got to Neverland made me cry as a kid. Seriously, that's so sad..

Regardless, personal childhood favorite and one that continues to stand the test of time for me.

A list of movies that I remember well from my childhood. Growing up I saw a fair amount of cartoon and liveaction movies and many of which I still have specific memories of (for fondness or not so fondness).

A side note, as I remember movies I will be adding them to this list.
